@EliteJino underdogs more, because they deserve it. the rappers i grew up on, all the late 80's & early 90's greats, kept it much more realer than rappers today. they were havin fun with metaphors and bein creative with their intellect. admit it, most of the shit today is about violence, sex, drugs, clothes, hoes & cars, PERIOD. bring back that real true positive hip hop vibe, when done right, is much more powerful than macho BS, i miss that feeling. but unfortunately, hip hop is infact dead RIP
@LASVEGASGHETTO I completely agree with you. And about what you said about Pac I agree. He is a great mc, but his popularity completely outweighs that of numerous mcs who have nearly or equal amount of skill on the mic, like Guru, Rakim, KRS ONE, Kool G Rap, Nas, you know it seems like people think Pac is the only good mc. If you ask a newschooler who is the best mc, they'll instantly say Pac to avoid backlash. Its like people only say Pac because hes the most popular old school mc,
@LASVEGASGHETTO I agree with everything you're saying but its like, either you know about music like this or you dont, there is no in-between. Its like this sort of music chose us, with it, it carries a very delicate message that is way to apparent and blatant for others to simply negate, the old school brothas knew what they were doing, they created an artistic form of expression from the soul that carried a legacy on their backs, yet today idiots beef over who sold more records?
@LASVEGASGHETTO Its not only the rappers, its the labels that entice this sort of dumbing down, the media shares and packages the garbage only to willingly sell it to our children as "just entertainment". If you ask me, it isnt even about music at all, it seems like they just want to destroy peoples lives an further entice total retardation. They even have the audacity to call their garbage material hip-hop, rofl, they are literally shitting on it by saying that.
@LASVEGASGHETTO So after a few generations, what are you left with, a naive and mentally limited populous that knows no better and will literally do anything to the hand that feeds them, thats where Big Brother steps in to clean up the mess. Fuck it, since we're deep lets get deeper. The problem doesn't start at the artist, label, media, or the fan, the problem is the Rothschild Tribunal, that owned Reuters for 200+years, which in return owns all the media and entertainment outlets.
the modern garbage despises eternal music such as this because they are simply stupid and dont want to hear real shit because it combats with their belief system, the way they carry themselves, and everything they have been taught in their little pathetic lives thus far, this is beyond their comprehension... RIP Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal because these are the words you manifested in me. The true way of going about things is through peace, compassion, and most importantly awareness.. 1Luv
maybe the best ever....seriously...proably the best mc in hip hop...never will there be anyone nearly as dope as guru...RIP REAL HIP HOP...love ya...one of the best hip hop singles of all time...
Man 90's and late 80's were so much more intricate in rap and hip hop. You don't hear as much instruments like shakers and drums, and trumpeting as you do see in tracks like this. All the actual raw creativity is condensed and just easily laid into stuff. Like current rap isn't catchy unless there is a large amount of piano even used, and even that can get boring.
@NBALegendary That is got to be the hardest question in HipHop Music - you've forgotten J Dilla and Marly Marl as well.
Anyway, for me just it would Dj Premier... But only just .. Marley Marl's early work within HipHop music has to be respected .. So does the work of J Dilla and Pete Rock...
But Dj Premier...good grief.. the stuff he did with Jeru Da Damage and Gang Starr was magical
My mom got me into Gangstarr, back in '89, when I was 7. "I like that Malcolm X looking guy. "(RIP Guru) LOL! Thank you ma! She wasn't the hugest hip hop fan, but she knew good music when she heard it. I feel so privileged growing up on this.
@easssyeddy you really want some phonies to jump on this. let the masses do what they do. if liking old skool went mainstream it'd get yuppied out and lose it's realness. you'd have to weed out the bandwagoners.
"I go for glory, I'm takin inventory".... This joint is so epic it's ridiculous!!! RIP GURU. Peace to Guru and DJ Premier. Together, they brought an element to hip-hop that alot of artists COULD NOT DELIVER! Peace & Blessings.
The majority of hip hop on radio nowadays is a load of autotuned garbage. I'm only 15 and I'm annoyed that I missed out on the years when hip hop was like this, when rappers actually put some thought into their lyrics. I attempt to bring back true hip hop like this, with my music and open everyone else's eyes to the greatest genre on earth! Please support me.
@rickylascaze001 LITERALLY LMAO!!!! U KNO WHAT,,, THE KID FROM EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS REALLY DOES LOOK LIKE LL, I THOUGHT THAT WAS HIS SON. BUT I DONT KNO BOUT GURU.
I knew that I liked this duo when I first heard this song. But little did I know they'd end up being my favorite group of all time. If you listen to each successive album you hear them maturing until by the end of their run, they were masters of their trade and sound.
Wow art , just true art, the rhymes, the musik, the lyrical slaugther but also the music vid. damn! everything seems so perfect and thought thru in this project - gotta say ain't nothing much bigger than this when it comes to real hiphop
guru had to sell his soul.. to tell the young what he said about ManiFest and to teach the truth, but most poeple didnt listen. so he died in 2010 the year of "Manifestion". Guru got up in 1988 when he made this song and then died the year of the meaning 2010. "Words that I ManIfest"..
I grew up with that kind of music, today i'm teaching my kids what real hiphop is all about. Real Mc's, where it all started. Believe me my kids give it more respect then anybody else !
Samples "A Night In Tunisia" by Charlie Parker. (The band is Charlie Parker - alto sax, Miles Davis - trumpet, Lucky Thompson - tenor sax, Arvin Garrison - guitar, Dodo Marmarosa - piano, Vic McMillan - upright bass, Roy Porter - drums)
ONE OF ALL-TIME CLASSIC CUTS IN HIP-HOP'S "GOLDEN AGE." Remember hearing this all throughout a weekend that I visited NC A&T University. Cats were all ON that c.o.n.s.c.i.o.u.s tip back then, and this jont KILLED 'em. Premier is fiyah on them tables, too.

If you ask me, it isnt even about music at all, it seems like they just want to destroy peoples lives an further entice total retardation. They even have the audacity to call their garbage material hip-hop, rofl, they are literally shitting on it by saying that.
fukwaynecampaign2 5 months ago
@LASVEGASGHETTO So after a few generations, what are you left with, a naive and mentally limited populous that knows no better and will literally do anything to the hand that feeds them, thats where Big Brother steps in to clean up the mess. Fuck it, since we're deep lets get deeper. The problem doesn't start at the artist, label, media, or the fan, the problem is the Rothschild Tribunal, that owned Reuters for 200+years, which in return owns all the media and entertainment outlets.
fukwaynecampaign2 5 months ago
the modern garbage despises eternal music such as this because they are simply stupid and dont want to hear real shit because it combats with their belief system, the way they carry themselves, and everything they have been taught in their little pathetic lives thus far, this is beyond their comprehension... RIP Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal because these are the words you manifested in me. The true way of going about things is through peace, compassion, and most importantly awareness.. 1Luv

Pete Rock influenced JayDee and 9th Wonder's sound/style. Listen to joints like "The Main Ingredient" and "Carmel City". The samples...the drums.
Dilla would be like 4th on my Top 5.

KingVirmire 7 months ago

I knew that I liked this duo when I first heard this song. But little did I know they'd end up being my favorite group of all time. If you listen to each successive album you hear them maturing until by the end of their run, they were masters of their trade and sound.
