I've been keeping tabs on Square for awhile. I think it will be great for vendors at conventions. Say someone wants some of your swag, but ran out of cash getting food? Well now they can still buy some, albeit you lose 3% to square's processing. Its a good device, great idea, and I'm excited for it to release.

@rgrmatt69 I don't think it's a horrible idea at all. Not all restaurants do separate checks, and depending on the size of your party, it can make for a huge task for your waiter. The app can also benefit those who are selling items that are not in a restaurant... the possibilities for use are really endless. This is a payment app, not a restaurant app. :) Hope you reconsider your stance!

@mari1ee Are you the developer or something? Let's be pragmatic though. Square has a extremely small market share in relation to PayPal. Of that small market share, how many friends both have an iPhone and Square? I see a small market for this app with kiosk/portable vendors, but since PayPal is garbage and horrible at satisfying customers, I think if Square can get a VC and a few major retailers on board, it could be profitable.

Btw, in hindsight, I think that if I had to do this episode over again, I may not have chosen a restaurant scene, but instead, a scene where vendors collect money at a farmer's market or flea market. That might have made more sense in respect to how the app is used.
