  • Horrible audiences :O

  • I think I have listened to this 25 times today.

  • My god, isn't humanity amazing - what beauty we have created..

  • @niamh029 Agreed! The crafting of these acapella pieces is an astonishingly remarkable skill.

  • I love these people. I have a cd of 10 of their songs. :) I listen to it just about everyday. <3

  • like like like:)

  • OMG! wat TOF!

  • The late great flute player Frankie Kennedy with Altan was the first to put these two tunes together in this way. Only the first tune, a slow air, is actually called Dobbin's Flowery Vale. There are lyrics to it--it's a traditional Irish song from County Armagh. The second tune is a reel played at a slow tempo that's known by several names, including Eddie Moloney's Favorite and The Drogheda Lasses. I hope Rajaton gives Altan credit for the arrangement.

  • nice

  • I was lucky enough to experience even this performance live. As every concert held by Rajaton it was overwhelming. Such virtuosity is hard to find nowadays. And I just have to brag: managed to get tickets to the extra x-mas concert - YAY!!!

  • das soll mal jemand aufm larp spielen...

  • what I would pay to hear this live. Please come to TN!!!

I listened to it in Vocal, a few days ago, and it just gets me everytime becasue it's just so beautiful.

I always forget theres no instruments, because the guys do the bass so well.

  • @s00nce That sounds like a really great experience !

  • @ralphyboy25 so educate me....who are they and where are they from? (not going looking after asking...:) )

  • @laelamarie1 Rajaton is a Finnish a cappella group. Another one of their songs (on my Favorites) is "Kulkue" or "The Procession" at:

I'm sure you have heard that one before.

  • I thought I agreed with @xXxPeasinaCanXx... On second thoughts, however, I think I prefer the version on 'Boundless' (2001)... Still, Rajaton is always amazing! ♥

  • @PlienxXxPandaSmiles Hey you're right! he does look like neil patrick harris in this performance! haha

  • Äärettömän kaunista... Iho kananlihalla. Rakastan Essin ääntä! Myös muilla todella kauniit äänet, mutta heitä saa harvemmin kuulla pitemmissä sooloissa. :)

  • I saw them on their Australian tour with Idea of North, I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. It was so powerful.

  • this is pretty cool.

  • My ears are unworthy of that bass sound!

  • Beautiful song

  • Rakastan sinua

  • Super gefühlvoll gesungen, ich mag es...

aber schaut doch auch mal Vokalensemble Tinnitus nach diesem Lied....

  • wow this is beautiful, i've never heard anyting like it.

    so great

  • @scarletwinter97 Altan does this, also: Frankie, on the flute, when he was still alive.

  • SUPERLATIVO!

  • thanks for posting this! love it!! :)

  • WOW

  • So exquisite, so beautiful.

  • Love this song! And this is one of the best video's of it.

When and where did they make this recording? Looks like a few years ago.

  • @kaelasa

    Kulttuuritalo, Helsinki, Finland

  • @Dendron88 Thanks!

  • @kaelasa The best version I have ever heard was when they toured Asia with The Real Group, The Idea of North and an American male vocal group. I got to be in a room with them with 6 other people, just sitting across a table from them when they sang 'Butterfly' and I got teary and goosebumps - they are magical musicians and wonderful people! I don't think the concert from (Korea?) is for public viewing though - and not on YouTube.
