  • love da fact dat she performed for da season wit her big belly

  • this video was de bum ...................you ent see fayann winin with her big heavy-t belly

  • we goh see who win tonite!

  • I'm sorry...with all that is going on in the world right now, you all seem petty. Can we try and just enjoy the videos? If you don't like...as my girl fay-ann would say...bite meh!!!

  • Why all of all u dont shut ayo scunt and comment on the womans excellent performance shit man

  • I find it funny reading these comments...why our WI/Caribbean ppl always arguing over what came where, and who is better than who...Does it really matter? Do you see the Hispanic Culture doing this...nah. They stay together and rep there culture full of pride....I don't even know why I took the time in posting this b/c ppl will do whatever foolishness that possess them

  • @Marimen85 Yes, Hispanic war amongst each udder too! Used to live in Miami and ah got de full story! Fuh rell, we gotta get over de differences. Dah is de beauty ah de West Indies!

  • rinidad is the land of carnival and soca....and jamaica is the land of reggae and dancehall......no other places will ever have those titles 200 years from now they will still be on top.......also when carnival ,labor da,y caribana etc come around i dont see ppl saying oh, he/ she not trini, or bajan or gt etc so i cant take ah wine......so stop with the arguement..... enjoy the music!!!!

  • And Grenada is the isle of spice!!!!!!!!!

  • yes or "the spice island" as i know it from a little youth..lol

  • this is not to say there wouldnt be great reggae/ soca artists in other islands etc or hit songs , but a place where something wasnt created will never have the strong culture or heritage as its birthplace....like rock and roll, and hiphop both created in america, but it exists all over the world and there are great foriegn artists ie- the beetles, but the music will never prosper as it does in america where it started the roots will be stronger than in a place where it was adopted.

  • my 2 cents (got tired of reading after page 5)

T&T is the mecca of soca, calypso, steelpan and chutney, i believe that is what makes carnival and i believe it also does in all the other islands as well, whether they adopted it or not, so credit must be due to T&T.... their artists will always be the top its their culture and what they created......

  • JA is the land of reggae and no other island will ever touch JA when it comes to reggae or dancehall, again they will always have the best reggae artists and songs, as they created the music and culture.

  • ii tink dis is wen she wuz pregnant wif her daughter..one day i wuz listenin to d radio in my momz car and d man who wuz announcin sed..fayanne..woy...i hear d belly gone dong..me n my mom wuz crakkin up

  • Why all the hating? we are ALL from the Caribbean..we should big up each other and not teach other down..ONE LOVE to ALL my WEST INDIAN PEOPLES

  • i think yall need to analyse the st8ments n stop assumin i am h8n n listen to the facts(read or waeva)...i think we tooo quick to say that critical opinions are "federationish"...i in no way am seeking to divide the C'bean...i think that by accepting substandard material which happens in all c'bean countries in some sector we are in FACT going bckwrd...do u think i wud ever say that BARBADOS is the film centre of the c'bean or the reggae town...no no no...as i can admit the truth

  • Lucha, I stand corrected on Gabby & very sorry to have offended, so now I give you not 1, but 2 more...Kevin Lyttle (turn me on, hit WI & globally) & The Baha Men (Who let the Dogs out)!

Arrow a 1 hit wonder? Besides Hot, Hot, Hot, he had Long Time, Soca Rumba & Groove Master, which all hit US & UK Best Seller lists. Tizzy hit throughout WI..Kassav hit globally, including Japan. Short Shirt "Tourist Leggo" is what caused T&T to ban foreign music from winning road march in 76. Come again?

  • yu are actually making my point...ONE HIT WONDERS...and u dont even kno it...just soo u kno ne body is a hit in japan...many unrecognised bajan artistes do well there so u need to come again

  • she won?? wit dis???

  • Now, Just for the fun of it...10 hitmakers who are not born in T&T, Barbados or Jamaica (for all who r looking 2 respond, I said BORN, not LIVE :-)...add in your 2 cents! 1. ShortShirt - Antigua 2. Arrow - Monserrat 3. Eddy Grant - Guyana 4. Mighty Gabby - SVG 5. The Burning Flames - Antigua 6. Kassav - French Antilles 7. Tallpree - Grenada 8. Onyan - Antigua 9. Tizzy & el-a-kru - Antigua and last, but certainly not least... 10. The Mighty Sparrow - Grenada! Dat's ten!!
  • Gabby is a bajan 1st things..Sparrow was based in Trini...Eddie Grant was based in Bim....those dont count...arrow is a one hit wonder...the burnign flames were big....the rest are not hit makers in the CARIBBEAN...maybe in their respective countries but now in the CARIBBEAN..

N.B how dare u say that Gabby is from SVG...he is a born and bred Bajna from Bridgetown...dont ever make that mistake again...1nce again i'v proven to u that you cannot fins 10 hitmakers outside of Bima nd Trinidad...

  • just fyi, sparrow has long BEEN a naturalized TRINI citizen though and claims trini...

  • calypsonians, so why shouldn't I? The fact is, they resang a song and had a hit, as so many other artists have...why is that a low comment?

My problem with alot of this chain is it has gotten away from the music, and how it has grown from the influence of ALL of our cultures...Ragga Soca? Impacted by Jamaican Reggae & Indian music. Soca & Calypso created through a melange from all the islands. We need to stop the crap, enjoy the music and be proud of what we develop as Caribbean people.

  • u also need to give credit where it is due..unless u can do that we will never grow as islands...cuz you will not focus on what you are REALLY good at

  • The Merrymens first international hit (Bum Bum) was borrowed from of Lord Jim (Antigua). The long and short of it is, we will never come together as a people, until we learn to respect and acknowledge each others contributions to our culture and uplift everyone as a whole, instead of trying to put other cultures / islands down as you beat yourself on the chest (Trinidad & Barbados leads the world, and everyone else are mere stragglers in the game)

    Peace & Respect

  • i think if u are lookin for upliftment u shudnt start wid the low comment u made about the Merry Men who are NOT calypso singers but folk neway...i think u need t see the real problem is these others no acceptance that soca and calypso were cre8d in both Barbados and T& T and therefor we have had time to perfect...time of which some of the islands like SVG needs so as to produce QUALITY ppl and stop praising crap...FACT!

  • if u say ur comment wasnt low then why of all artistes u selected a Bajan folk group to say they borrowed...y not tlk about the Baha Men who borrowed who let the dogs out...that seems more relevant to our conversation...I am really tryna get yalls point ya no but it does not register because ur facts are very skewed

  • REALLY??? The MM's were chosen because I was listening to the original song as I was typing. How the Baha Men borrowing from A. Douglas (YES, I know) becomes more or less relevant is beyond me,

Look at the start of this chain. You're not getting the point because you don't WANT to. The point is we ALL are one Caribbean, & all contribute to making it strong, beautiful & musical. Stop downplaying people, their nations and their contributions, and they won't raise up on you. DONE!

  • I SO proud da i come from d caribbean..Big up trinidad!! and grenada

  • trini-bago is boss!

  • Antigua any day..we have some great soca too

  • GRENADA ALL DAY

  • TRINI is the BEST so FVCK all those against......we are known around the world as the MEGA OF SOCA

  • All the islands have their unique styles & that variety is what makes the Caribbean a gr8 place. All this big & small island crap is such backward thinking, you can have a big island & 1/2 leaves in poverty so whats the point. & I agree with the person who said the other islands music have more flair lately, I like HEAVE T BUMPBER (09) and GAL FARM TUNES (08), someone from Grenada have done the reply to HTB, its gd, d guy said SPICEMAN CAN MASH UP THOSE ST. all gd no hating.

  • Y all the hate.....I am from tirinidad living in Canada and I love vincy soca...every year each island have there winners and loosers as far as hit soca song....and st vincent doing the damn thing too....NO HATIN....

  • i love the soca from trinidad especially this here from the queen fay ann can't wait to have her live so we could mash up the place

  • who cares it doesnt matter where the music is comming from we all carribean so why class each other we have to treat each other as one nation and learn to love each other instead of dividing over music.....one love r.i.p michael jackson

  • i wish we lived in such a Caribbean...but until each island learns to give the other its due.that will never happen...in the USA u dont hear ppl in NY tryin to say that they Crunk better than ATL...Soca originated in Barbados and T&T so obviously we gonna be consistent...Jamaica is the land of Reggae FULL STOP...AGREED tho RIP MJ

  • i am an Antiguan and i love soca music. i listen soca form any caribbean country once its good. lil rick, ricky t, machel, faye-ann, destra, zoelah, sherwayne, wck, Alison hinds, blaxx, Suder blue, Patrice roberts,Bunji, iwer, Antigua own Claudette peters, Tizzy, Red Hot Flames, these are all great soca artiste who is making soca large........................world wide

  • who is Tizzy and who is red hot flames...in the antiguan community they may be relevant but that fact remains that the best come from Trini and Bim...nothing yall say can change that

  • To Give Such A Splended performance And Being Very Pregnant At The Time Is Super Stardum...Big Up Fay-Ann Love u Tunes Gal and The One That Name Super Blue Mad Lyrics Mad Mad Mad Mad!!!!!

  • lol who say vincie have best soca lol way dem dey? every person ga say them island is the best in something jus like how i feel anu have the best soca bands...its all opinoun lol but trini do da da dam ting anu next lol ja me neva hear soca song out dey lol slu eeeehh they can dance and vincie idk bout u...

  • for all the people saying heavy-t is NOT a groovy, um what exactly do you define it as then? it certainly not a power soca! how is it not a blasted groovy? the tempo is slower, more melodious--all characteristics of defining a groovy song. i think y'all confused with energy and hype--don't presume that judges weigh energy the same way in groovy as in power and they most likely don't. the criteria is different! thus the faster songs go--the further they are from groovy in actuality.

  • c'mon vincies...i ainno wa yall does call best carnival...the best soca does come from Barbados and Trinidad wid some songs from de rest of islands...its a proven fact...the biggest names are Allison Hinds, Machel, Edwin, Destra Fayann, Bunji & Lil Rick and Rupee

  • well.. to that comment im from St. Vincent and Trinidad ..every islands have there own carnival that they call the best yes bajan have great singers too but its like u saying we are only recognized because of dem an that its not tru we have Jamaica, St. Lucia, Grenada and etc they have good soca down there sometimes more than any other islands in the west indies so u should kno wat u talkin bout b4 yuh buss off yuh mouth

  • listen who/whatever...the fact remains that the quality is non comparable...apart from a few hits islands like SVG do not really produce much and i would kno as i used to vacation there reg. I they need to improve their craft before they walk around saying they are the best. SLU has some good soca over the years and Grenada is similar to SVG in quality...fact is the better festivals are T&T Carnival and Kadooment...if u doan like it suck salt!

  • dis so not true-u got 2 retink wat u said-its either u doh no wat is good music or u jus tryin 2b a hypocrite-cuz its not only bajan &trini dat got big tracks-like d vinci said there is grenada, st.vincent & d rest & 2b honest some of d music from trini & bajan is total stupidnes-u guys aint better dan nobody, especialy trini, dey r jus follow ups,so shut it bout dat, cuz u aint making sense, there is no hate on my side, jus stating d facts,we in d caribbean r 1 people, lets not class each other.

  • ur obviously not exposed to world class music as are many of yall...yall think that cuz a song is popular in grenada or antigua or wherever that these ppl are GR8 ...i'mnot saying yall dont have a hit here and there but there is NO mainstay artiste among them...that is a FACT...they can strive to be as gr8 as the artistes i mentioned from T&T & Bim and they might get there but they arent there yet....the FACTS OF LIFE

  • Bajan,

Maybe YOU need to relearn the facts of life. Lord Shorty, the reputed father of soca, has said that he took his sound from Eddie Grant, a Guyanese singer. Machel Montano style of singing? Burning Flames (aka Onyan & The Red Hot Flames) is who he learned / took that from. Trinidadians used to come to Antigua for Carnival in the 80's (when they were still "chippin" to groovy music), and ask why our music was so fast, and how we must come from South Africa, mek we a jump so!

  • Eddie Grant who is not based in Guyana but lives and works in BArbados and is a gr8 fren to the Mighty Gabby....yall need to give credit where it is due...stop undermining Faye Anns right to the title....stop tryin to make pp belive that SVG cud have ever contributed more to the artform than the homelands of Soca/Ragga Soca n Calypso...when u acknowledge that u might learn a thing or 2.i have never said the other islands have not had hits.but there are not 10 hitmakers from the other islandsFACT

  • Lucha...

Stop defending before you actually READ what I said. Eddie now lives in Bimshire, but hails from Guyana and spent most of his adult life there and in England. No one is undermining Faye Ann. She is a great singer and composer, and comes from a powerhouse family of music. There is nothing low about the comment regarding the Merry Men. That song was created and written by an Antiguan, who composed and won the road march with it in the mid 60's. The MM classify themselves as

  • we are dealing with soca tho...and i think ur the one not reading properly.. a hitmaker is not the same as a 1 hit wonder... a lot of the names u listed were 1 hit wonders and I am aware that there are soca hits from other islands...a hit maker is like Machel, Fay Ann, Bunji, Rupee, Edwin Yearwood etc.

  • yall so blinded from the truth u are missing the point of what i'm sayin...either that or yall ain intellectual enuff to understand...I'm not sayin that sumtime bajan got sum crappy soca...the fact remains T&T and Bim has the best soca music CONSISTENTLY. I not sayin that st. vincent never had a hit but not CONSISTENTLY SO..and that girl yall sayin shudda beat Faye Ann didnt stand a chance...PURE FACTS

  • yuh know it is wat it is she won and no one can prevent that!!FIRE!!!!

  • even though u were pregnant u still moved and showed them wat u got great performance!!!!also calypso rose did her thing

  • i am not a fan of soca, BUT THIS SONG IS FUCKING COOL!

  • the judges of this competion duh know one thing bout soca. Fay ann was good but did not deserve first benjai is d boss he should of won, but nonetheless congrats fayann

  • meh lady..meh soca queen...fayann u deserve everyshit...me cya wait to see how ur piki gonne come out a super star..me jus luv all ur tunes dem 4 dis year....

  • i loved it, this whole performance was bessss

  • Comment removed

  • fayann did well this carvinal and she deserved to win the Power Soca after being pregnant. BUT Heavy T Bumper is not a Groovy Soca and she should have never made it to the finals with that song, on disrespect it just my view.

  • great job fay. d title could of go anyway btween fay, benjai, kerwin, biggie or shurwayne. benjai had d crowd but he was foolish to come alone no presentation points. honestly shurwayne maxi spoilt it i cudnt even hear him.

  • Comment removed

  • damn am a Grenadian and i love this song but big up Faye-Ann and her baby girl also bunji garlin Grenada and T&T forever

  • U DON KNOW

  • i love faye ann....she is definitely what soca in the caribbean needs.........big up to all de soca queens from all de islands in the mighty caribean

  • sorry I missed this great performance but wait till year year much respect!

  • A well-deserved win for Fay-Ann! Congrats to you! This song was de best groovy soca song that night and it was performed the best - with the best presentation! Everyone at the National Stadium was ecstatic when she was declared the winner!

  • zola's performance was good but come on dis competition was entitled groovy soca monarch not groovy r&b monarch

  • i love fayann but she didn't deserve this victory..........zola deserve to place higher cuz she performed better than fayannn......them trini need to be more fair even shurwayne did way better than fayannn, plus y did they have international soca monarch for when them trini only allowing their own to be in the top 3 and top 4 its not fair.....them trini never like to support other countries artist but everybody else does support dem

  • @socaqueen21 Quite frankly, I think Zoelah was good, however Fayeann's experience and commanding stage performance made her glow! As for Trinis in the top 3, our experience outshine EVERYONE and we are deserving, don't hate! You need to get familiar with the criteria for judging b4 criticizing. Trini supports the Caribbean; it is on the Trini stage that the producers scout out the talent in the various competitions. You are so blinded by HATE for Trinidad and Tobago that you can't feel our LOVE!

  • calypsoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ROSE!!! FAYE- ANN!! ur toooooo much...I LOVE U. WOMEN RUUUN TINGS 4 TRUE!!

  • Fay ann deserves every victory bestowed upon her this year!..... especially as an atolment for cheating her last year in the finals... "cyah mash up d system!!!"

  • Though i agree wid ya'll down there, it was a gd performance but not one deserving first place.........if u all take d time to really watch an compare other performances it had others that was much better than hers..........An for my part SHURWAYNE WINCHESTER cuda cum first

  • Though i agree wid ya'll down there, it was a gd performance but not one deserving first place.........if u all take d time to really watch an compare other performances it had others that was much better than hers..........An for my part SHURWAYNE WINCHESTER cuda cum first

  • pll i love faye ann..but this was not a winning performance...heavy t bumba is not a groovy soca at all..what about zoelah...if this was a winning performance then tizzy's perf. was exceptional and deserve to be placed in the first 3...there was such good perf from the islands..why call it int'l when ur not/don't want any one but trini in 1,2,3 positions..we need an int'l panel of judges..don't get me wrong i'm a trini..love mrs alvarez...but heavy t bumba is not a groovy soca

  • fay ann, shurwayne, benjai and zola had the best performances that night.. no doubt about it

  • might be my imagination or poor eyesight, but Faye-Ann is reminding me of a young Queen Ella Andall in the white dress she's wearing.

  • 2009: The Year of Fay Ann...God bless her and her family.

  • Zola is a prominent, talented singer from St. Vincent. she performed in dis yrs soca monarch, 'wine up on me'. Come on ppl, pay attention!

  • She also gave us...Go down low..I want yuh jook and go down low, jook and go down low, wine and come up so wine and come up so...

    Zoelah has a great voice.

  • mash it up

  • From a full size heavy t bumper - girl you did your thing, big belly and all ... job damned well done ... much love, praise and respect to you Mrs Lyons-Alvarez. Looking forward to Road March Results as well!!!
