@Yves12234 295 will give u abit higher fps, but it might shutter as its a dual gpu card. gtx 480 is single gpu and new also new shader version etc. i would go with 480. but now a better option would be 570/560 and oc as high as 580.

and of cource new patches + new nvidia drivers will get you more fps

you get tearing if you get fps lower than 60.. so without vsync you wont see tearing

you better optimise the settings to have a higher fps

yes the 480 is better than the 5870, on some games, gta iv is one of them....it has been proved that intel-nvidia systems perform gta iv much better than ati-amd systems.....I'm not a fanboy,I'm a bit pissed, since I also use an ati myself...

no, gtx 480 is the best damn card in the world, i don't know why people say that 5870 is better, it's close but gtx 480 is the shit, they cranked that sh#t up, ya know.... I wanna buy gtx 480 in a few months, but i'd like to see how it works, but there aren't alot of gameplay videos with gtx 480, so it's real good that this video is gtx 480 plus gta 4, this video is deffinately worth uploading to the utube

indeed GTX480 smokes the HD5870 but for the small gain i get and paying a lot more cash,the noise,getting hotter, needing a more powerful power supply i don't think it's worth it but if you have lots of cash then GTX480 is the way to go but else you're just wasting cash and you should have bought ATi

@teckim No way when we're talinking about hawx or gta4. Those two REALLY uses alot of cpu power, so if you see anybody with same specs, only a 2600k, it gonna be around 10~15fps more than ya. That depends alot, but those 2 are cpu bound.

5870 gives better FPS in GTA4, should have got a 5870 then, next time go ATI if you want to play games the way they are meant to be played ;]

i've tested both and the 480 smokes the 5870 in this game. infact, the 5870 was terrible with this game, stuttering every few seconds making it unplayable. type "5870 gta stutter" into google and you'll see it's a common problem.

i think the new shadow algorithm is excellent compared to the old one. granted it weighs alot heavier on the framerate but that's to be expected since it looks alot better, imho.

@S0briety The new shadows don´t look anything special and now objects like characters and cars look like they´re floating a few inches over the ground. This is a step back, I get better graphics and performance in Gta4 and you should be doing 100fps with that pc of yours :-P

meh, the old shadows looked like they'd been done with microsodft paint, lol. not sure how you know what pc i own? i'd be lucky to get 15 fps with everything set to low on my current setup, though.

@S0briety hehe, I assumed you were the video poster. Well, highest shadows in gta4 look very good in my 9800gt and gtx260, definitely better than on my hd4770. Maybe you have an ati card?.
