I agree...it was just a flange...his playing really does not scream Eddie VH at all...Vito Bratta (White Lion) is a direct Eddie ripoff...listen to that and you will see the difference.
@individrus If the only influence that you can hear in Nuno's playing is EVH then you really need to listen to a lot more guitarists. Try some non-rockers like Carlos Medovia and Jose Filliciono for starts (might not have them spelled correctly)... Or Hendrix himself if you can only handle listening to rock...
@kenroy916 I don't believe he's saying Eddie is bad. They're just saying EVH hasn't progressed since his hey day, and that Nuno is by far the better guitarist. Nobody is saying Eddie is bad. But, I don't believe you can really call Extreme a VH ripoff when their singer was part of VH at one time.
Absolutely one of their best songs. Love the harmony vocals on the chorus. Great stuff. Contains a lot of elements sorely lacking from today's rock music.
The first time I heard this was in the parking lot while I was in summer school, trying to pull up a weak English grade. You're not supposed to enjoy summer school, but that summer I did. <3 this track and this album.
LOL wow this album is ancient. This first album of theirs was loaded with incredible riffs, grooves, and solos. Not to mention the vocal harmonies. Their Van Halen and Queen influences could definitely be felt. Too bad the general public only remembers them for "More Than Words". Just like Aerosmith and "Dream On".
...and then the world didn't want to hear good musicianship and talented players anymore. Bad timing...1989. Kurt Cobain and the Seattle grunge and LA and San Fran punk scene take over. Anger and sorrow and heroin induced "rainy nights and cloudy skies...I wanna kill myself" songs come out in 1990. Grunge. Some great grunge tunes...don't get me wrong...
wow, Van Halen anyone? this song kicks some ass. Wish I woulda given this one a chance in '89... why I didn't I can't remember as I did Dangerous Toys, Junkyard, a whole bunch of others. I want that kid's shirt!!!!
This video was filmed in and around Hammerjacks in Baltimore, MD. Once a great night club, now just part of the parking lot of Raven's Stadium. R.I.P. Hammerjacks.
Always liked this song.I don't know why they don't play more stuff off of the first album. The only thing they do is Play With Me.And we all know that's because it was so popular from Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure. The only time Extreme plays Kid Ego and Mutha live fully and not in a medle is when they play festivals or open for a big act.Watching Waiting was another great song off of the first album. They should have released that as a single. It would have been a hit.
@defleppard741 Yeah I know that but unless they are opening up for a band in an arena and have to play a greatest hits show or if they are doing festivals, then they play it in it's entirety.Otherwise on their own they only play it in a medley of songs off of their first album.
hell yeah!!! The first time i heard this song it made me stop in my tracks. The intro is frikin great! Nuno was a sweet guitarist.... what am i sayin he still is... right?!!

Never a big fan of their first album, but this was one of the better songs. Still, Pornograffiti was when they hit it big.

Intro riff sounds like Lay It Down by RATT, but the flanger screams UNCHAINED!

Listening to the guitar sound in the intro (especially, with the flanger) its obvious where Nuno got his inspiration:)) -Eddy!
But I love Nuno dearly...he s just amazing
