Just because ive never played the game, only quake 2 on the N64, how do you look around in this game?

This arena was my all time favorite on the dreamcast and always will be. I love the music, its the first song and arena i think of on the dc version. Golden memories playing online on 56k internet haha, GLITCH!!!!!

Yes, but the system's processor is probably too slow.

actually I've heard carmack (doom and quake father) saying that the dc could run doom 3, but it needed redesigned levels because of the limited memory.

The Voodoo 2 may be able to run graphical intensive programs on a rig with 3 times the RAM the Dreamcast has and open GL support.

I love how Q3A is a cross platform, which means if you have the certain patch by id and get a certain mappack, you can play on the pc version against dc users, epic win =D

it runs on a quake 3 engine they use the same editor and have the same look to them the original quake 3 wasn't too great because they had to make it work with slower computers so the detailed it less and made its textures lower quality alice is also a good example too but it was ahead of its time it was too detailed

I remember this game on the DC, this had to be the absolute best PC to console port the dreamcast and possibly ID's best console port to date. No other game other then this one has a true PC feel even when limited to 4 players it still holds that PC feel to it.

Dude, there are servers till up for Q3A DC..unfortuantly I never got to experience DC In it's prime so I never experienced Unreal Tournament DC Online :(

I saw this game on their future release section of the old school page. When it came out, it wowed my world for several days. Then stupid sony and the GTA series. Because, I bought my Dreamcast from Blockbuster used. So they ripped out the network adapter and replaced it with a jumper pack long before I bought it. My DC is offline only unfortunately. :|

I think there's been a misunderstanding... the dialup 56k modem (I think it's HT-300 or something) is cheap, but the Broadband adapter (the good one), HT-400 or 401 I think) is expensive ($100 and up). But both can be purchased online pretty easily.

I disagree... I thought the Deathmatching in it was top notch. Quake2's SP was long and boring (way below par for 1998!). I always felt Quake1 (despite the music and graphical improvements) was just a weak (less memorable) version of Doom/2.

Quake1 was full polygon 3D (GLquake was a 3d accelerated patch, and Quakeworld added the first internet play), plus you could jump and aim your gun. It could also have more than 4 players online. But yeah, other than that it was kinda crappy. People said MP was fun, but I never played it online. The source ports for Doom/2 make it as advanced as Quake1. Quake/2 were just too bland and reptative for me (Q3 had great music though). Q3 was great!
