Okay Geographer, a few things.

1) Giving the Guantanamo prisoners Constitutional protections is not a plea from democrats to think about all those poor terrorists. You're missing the point of the issue entirely. It is a proven fact that we have locked up INNOCENT PEOPLE in camps like Gitmo, while at the same time suspending THEIR rights for a trial. For the life of me, I can't understand why a person would RESIST making sure we got the right people.

Mainly because the Gitmo detainees fall into a category that does not exist. They are not in the US nor are they US citizens, so they do not get Constitutional Rights, unless you are of the opinion that everyone on the planet should have the same protections under the US Constitution? As a U.S. citizen who has served the nation, I take exception to the idea that our rights should be handed out so serendipitously.

2)The reason why some dems are trying to prosecute Bush is because of the METHODS he used to ensure we have not been attacked (the anthrax attacks totally don't count though). If we are to app;u them equally, then Pelosi needs to be taken away to jail for her violations of the Logan Act in her unauthorized trip to Damascus, which Bush told her not to do. The Logan act prescribes penalties for anyone making such trips with the intend of shaping US foreign policy outside the executive branch. How does this unequal application of law live up to your standard?
