  • This song is hauntingly beautiful.

  • Clearly this is amazing music.

  • I listened to this song for days without stopping...

  • another 20 years could pass and i will be 60, i will still love this band and be glad i grew up with this!

  • I heard Aliester Crowley is in this song, but what part?

  • @my9thtime

You can hear the recordings from the poem "At Sea" throughout the song. It isn't the complete poem, but it's there.

  • @my9thtime I think its the recitation at the begining

  • @my9thtime

Aliester Crowley is the sample of the man speaking at the beginning dear. It is in regards to his Golden Dawn work.

  • Greater than your GOD....

  • "Man is so infinitesimally small - Man's music is so infinitely great"

  • Sucks they'll never play the states.!! God damn they inspired a ton of bands!

  • this is actually two songs mate: at the gates... and paradise regained, you should correct the title i think : )

  • Si yo alcanzase a ver el fin del mundo, sería la banda sonora esta canción. Es maravillos, tortuosa, bella y terrorífica al mismo tiempo. Una de las canciones de mi vida.

If I see the end of the world, this song would be his OST. So wonderfull, hollow, pretty and frightening at the same time. One of my life's songs.

  • @Docentehistoria

Tienes razón . Cuando yo la descubrí , me pareció la muestra mas acabada de la belleza delicada e intensa .El misterio , el terror y el abismo. Sueño con una chica que disfrute de esta rola tanto como yo

  • This is easily one of the most important albums to come pout of the Uk in the late 80s, definitely top 10 , fucking phenomenal!!!

  • This was my favourite gig ever, how fucking proud I feel to have been here on the guest list, this gig was ace, this song is nephilim at there finest pink floyd moment, and totally underated, what a superb band, live you could not touch them, the atmosphere was electric, and for all the pricks that took the piss fucking WATCH THIS and eat your cockney predjudice, you middle class journalist scum.

  • This album makes me feel things I can't even begin to comprehend...

  • I've listened to this 4 times today already. Amazing song.

  • There is something so otherworldly about the Nephs in their "Elizium" era. It's as if they had created their very own niche in music history. Enchanting, haunting, eerie - you name it, I listen to it. What a stunning piece of beauty!

  • 4 ppl just misclicked dislike button,no point to calling them names.

  • So goooooood song

  • Don't know how I ended up here. But I must ask myself why I haven't listened to this song for so long time. It's still as great as it always has been!

  • Greatest song ever...

    Cheers from Romania!

  • 4 dislikes?!?!!! you idiots.

  • So......... Absorbing.....

  • Incredibly beautiful. This is music.

  • In her my elf dissolves, a grain

Of salt cast careless in the sea; My passion purifies my pain..To peace past personality.

Love of my life, God grant the years

Confirm the chrism ...rose to rood!!!! Anointing loves..asperging tears

In sanctifying solitude!!! Men is so...

  • gorgeous!! <3

  • he is so handsom and single but he is a father naneedj.info

  • One of my favorites songs of Fields...

  • This is Aleister Crowley speaking at the start

    Research.....

We are the sons and daughters of the fallen angels

  • The late eighties was the best period for the true Goth sound. Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, The Mission, The Damned (in their Phantasmagoria period).

I've never experienced better rock music since.

  • I'm still remembering the epic line. How can you want something that isn't in either sphere? Good is subjective. I think I said, I don't want to die.

  • this song touches me sooooo deep.

  • Never heard of them before... But I like them

  • Now all is clear. Now i know where Tiamat has took influences from

  • this is like the doors

  • amazing stuff

  • If Pink Floyd was Gothic rock, maybe.

    Fields of the Nephilim

puts out the most amazing music

I've ever heard in my life.

  • Well you could say that FOP focuses on the darker more gothic side of Pink Floyd.

  • Chills down my spine!! Carls voice is just amazing...

  • the greatest gothic rock band ever

    LONG LIVE THE NEPHILIM

    Cheers from Portugal

  • the greatest musical composition known to me, and I have many, from Mozart to Heather Small

  • Its not very complex compared to a classical composition but its very atmospheric.

It Brings Pink Floyd to mind.

  • its a music from the actual fields of the nephilim...

  • This isn`t rock, it is pure emotion from the deepest corners of a soul

  • what's the name of the first track on the 1988 album?

  • It's called 'Endemoniada' and its a class song too.

  • Long live the Fields of Nephlim!

  • Soo intense...

that holds my heaven and holds my hell

    love of my life

    man is so infinitely small

    man is so infinitely great"

  • Epic indeed, this is Godliness.....Wrights guitar in this, is a thing of post apocalyptic decadence ..............................

  • Godliness indeed.... it seems to have all been forgotten...

  • Epic song

  • julian73de it is polish :)

  • I'd love to be able to play that guitar solo, it must be one of most beautiful pieces of music ever made

  • "Miłością mego życia, Bóg nagrodził lata

    Olejem namaszczony, na krzyż wyniesiony

    Bierzmowaniem miłości, kropidłem łez

    W uświęconej samotni

    Wypełnionej moim niebem,

    Wypełnionej moim piekłem"

  • is it polish?i dont understand a word, but its very good that you translate it

  • Do dziś...

    Niebo

  • "Lśniące jej światła mój okręt prowadzą

    Wypełnione moim niebem,

    Wypełnione moim piekłem

    Miłości życia mojego

    Człowiek - tak nieskończenie mały

    Człowiek - tak nieskończenie wielki"

  • EXCELENTE!!!!

  • such a great band.. and such a fantastic song.. they do indeed deserve much more recognition for their work. Takes me back to my youth.. Despite moving on to other music i still own pretty much all of their official releases and quite a few bootlegs on vinyl... I'll never sell them!

    "Elizium for the sleepless souls"

  • i've loved this track since my dad made me listen to it. Were this the group who alwayz seemed to be covered in dust or was it talc?

  • dude it was flour

  • I saw the Nephilim in 1991 at the Ritz in Manchester - I went to the bog afterwards and Carl McCoy, Nod et all all. (in slow motion) walked past me - its something i will never EVER forget. I blame them entirely for my alcohol addiction/cigarrette abuse for the last 21 years! King love them still... (this vid must have been taken on that tour?)

  • thats really cool m8, i sense our all sweet companion...melancholy

  • these guys never got the recognition that they deserve. Having lived in a masonete underneath them when they first began , I have followed them all over the country and they just got better and better everytime I saw them. Tony the bass player has created some great bass riffs and noddy the drummer sets the enthusiasm with the guitarists. All in all if you get the chance to see them do it , you will not be disappointed . Cant wait till the next gig. buy the albums and crank them up

  • 4 all people out from HR(croatia).try to listen Mizar.great band from Macedonia

  • This song have something special 4 me and a litlle part in my heart.CROATIA loves U

  • If cruel fate had a soundtrack this would be it.

  • you dont so much go to a fields of the nephilim show, more sort of experiance one

  • it is clear in the bible what the nephilim means what are you scared of? freemasons?

  • Yes we know fallen angels..Your point being

  • sexfiend81.. So why are you looking up a band you dont like..The fieds are far better band than alien sex fiend ever were.

  • anyone who knows the Nephilim and what they aim to acheive with their music will be blown away by this ;] awesome track by a great band. spot on quality video nice post :)

  • that's because you know crap about the Fields.

The entire album was one long song, taken out of order or not played str8 through it lacks something.

  • Nephilim kick ass! (It does sound like an intro though.)

  • non si può vivere senza i Fields of the Nephilim.

    Nephilim for ever.

  • Long live to McCoy, the Great!! In Spain we had Heroes del Silencio, a Fields bad copy -but anyway I like them too-.

  • You might also love Opened Paradise, Sons of Neverland, Voices of Masada & NFD. They all have a Nephilimesque sound.

  • nice choice of bands! It's a pity most people get stuck to the big bands and don't try to find out new stuff...

  • Entrancing,captivating,breathtaking,..sometimes words fail to describe, the beauty...music for the heart and soul..!!

  • Man! Do you have the rest of this concert? I would love to see "Blue Water" live!

  • I do indeed, I'll see what I can do.

  • @Patriarch86 it´s called "visonary heads"..

  • "Earth Inferno" is a crown of FotN's opus, and "At the Gates of Silent Memory" is one of it's most precious jewels.

    Fantastic performance!

  • This live version can be found on 'Earth Inferno' LP/CD, and also on DVD complitaion of promo videos and two gigs from 1988 & this one from Brixton Academy, London 1990.

  • I just have to get this on CD.

Is it from the album 'Elizium'?

  • Yes

  • Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but this is indeed from Elizium, which is an incredible album. There is not one bad song on the whole album, and its one of the very best goth rock albums of the 90s.

  • Elizium album is the gate of the mysterious place of my hearts....so beautiful, so mystical, full of wishdom...so clear, like the stars...

  • Elizium to jedno z największych muzycznych osiągnięć ludzkości!!! Ta płyta jest WIELKA!!! Kocham tę płytę, tę muzykę!!!

Elizium is one of the greatest music achievements of the humankind !!! It's great!!! I love that album, that music!!!

  • I love this Song!!!!

    Ich hoffe meine Nachbarn auch

    Play it loud!!!!

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • Unbelievable album, everytime you listen to eat you hear new stuff, really grabs you by the bollocks.

  • this (Elizium) always gives me a feeling of some kind of katharsis... every time it ends I feel like borng again (several times a day ;) If not FOTN, I'd left this damn planet long time ago. I think "they" are telling us something (spectacular) using McCoys' mind and voice. our simple human ears hear "stand on the platfomr" but our "hearts" - our souls feel... well, some kind of heaven, I think. I know I sound weird. I just can't express it properly... words are not enough. LOVE U ALL HONESTLY!

  • Its a stunning album no doubt. I always seem to be completly mesmorized by the last two songs 'Wail of Sumer/And there Will Your Heart Be Also'. I wish that they were even longer, because I've never heard any other rock songs that are as breath taking and as evocative as those two.

  • Love of my life, God grant the years,

    Confirm the chrism;

    Rose to Rood;

    Anointing Loves,

    Asperging tears,

    In this sanctifying solitude;

    That holds my Heaven,

    That holds my Hell;

    - A.Crowley

  • I hope my neighbours like it, lol. Play it load for max effect.

  • Elyzium, what a great album!

  • Amazing! Great musicians!!

  • Carl McCoy's voice is one of the most earthy, primal, sensual, and yet outer worldly and sensitive. His voice and the music travels through dark dimensions of the spirit with strength, beauty and yet without self-pity. That's what I feel makes FotN so powerful.

  • just found out that they are back, gutted i missed them at the forum (london) if i had only found out earlier :-(

roll on the next london gigs...i'll be there & all on the strengh of this very song...love it

    popadop

  • this is what they call in the eighties "art rock", eerie, melancholic, resonating

  • I love his voice so much, and the way he sings. I think it's that stuff that someone likes and someone doesn't. And I always feel enthralled, when I hear this song.

I like FOTN! Thanks for uploading it!

  • The drums and bass are absolutely amazing. The guitar lines are as if David Gilmour joined Iron Maiden, and that can't be bad. I think freelowper7 was looking for Fallout Boy videos and found this by mistake. Forever Nephilim

  • Just because someone likes something you don't they are sad people, tosser.

  • lol. Carl McCoy has the greatest voice ever little boy!

  • Simply AMAZING. I have no other words. *speechless*

    Thanks for uploading it.

  • one of the best songs ever written.

  • Wise words.

  • This was my second live seen group ever, it was on the tour wher FOTN were the opening act for New model army! It was this adorable night when I fell in love with both bands :)

  • This shit is the "Bollocks" why the fuck can't anyone record stuff like this anymore,

Fuck Pop idol and all those cunts.

  • No one's ever recorded stuff like this before them and no one will ever record stuff like this after them : except them.

  • What a way to go out though with an album like that, shame though witha breahthrough album like that think of what else they might have done.

The offshoot bands including thr new fields aren't much good. Are any of them too stupoid to realise this.

  • The Best video clip do Fields

  • They sound live (early, with the original line-up) even better than on previously recorded releases!

  • Wow, sounds almost too perfect to be a live recording.

  • It shows how good FOTN musicians are live.

  • Thanks for the info, WolvesInferno. I called FOTN 'gothic metal', but I'm not sure this really covers it. They're just out there riding their own very dark range like no-one else is doing it. How about I call them 'frontier gothic'? When I first saw the film 'Hardware' I was mesmerised by the opening sequence. I wanted the whole film to be about the zone tripper character. It was only later - much later - that I learned that this was Carl McCoy! (Search YouTube: 'Hardware M.A.R.K. 13: Intro')

  • Ah often say, the best bands ever played was always impossible to be categorized, such as Tom Waits, Current 93,Nick Cave and of course Nephilim. These are the members of my everlasting panthenon.Sorry, ah am drunk as hell...

  • Plastered or not, Dam1el, you're totally on target! Nick Cave, The Nephs, even Johan Edlund of Tiamat, just do what they do and go wherever they need to go to bring the stuff home. I've rather amazed myself here: even after months of watching other music vids, this particular one still stands as my all-time favorite. Enjoy your glass!

  • spookysaurus:

FotN are Gothic Rock, not Gothic Metal at all.

  • You're right! Thanks.

  • Sadly their new stuff is little more than dark metal. I doubt it's even McCoy singing for that matter. As a fan, I only consider their old stuff to be the *real* FotN material.

  • how fcuking brilliant was that, this is the only song i've heard from them....i hope the others are just as good...i'll give them a listen, right after i've heard this again.

i love the music in this, it should have gone on for another 20 mins....brilliant stuff.

    popadop

  • Popadop5, the only thing I know that's as good as this is something else by FOTN. Try 'Requiem' on their Mourning Sun album. Does anyone have a video of this number?
