  • I love this man...he is so kind and generous, and such a wonderful guitar player. Listen to good music...it's good for your soul....

  • This is one of the BEST songs EVER! Compares to John Lennons music. I wish this was our national anthem!

  • just saw him perform this song a few hours ago! He put on a hell of a show!

  • Does this man love and follow Jesus, if he believe.

  • what guitar is that?

  • @brewjake it's a jerry jones electric sitar guitar

  • If we are were all blind would we be any different?

  • just saw buddy tonight in columbus. he played this song and it brought tears to my eyes... there's not much more to say. he is a legend

  • Legend.. such a heavenly lyric.. incredible.

  • I saw buddy live at the blues festival in portland, oregon. The story behind the song is: he was 17 years old, poor living in a busted up house in the south. he was watching his mom comb her hair in a broken mirror. he says" mom , your so beautiful" she responds " beauty is only skin deep".

  • Dick Chenney and George W. Bush disliked this video

  • LOL strange guitar! O:

  • The song is great and he's great. . He influences me in so many ways. . .

  • This man is greater than Prince and MJ put together...

  • Perfect song, perfect vocals, perfect melody, perfect instrumentals...Perfect!!!

  • One of the best performances I've seen on Dave's show...This song has all the elements of a great song...Beautiful lyrics, beautiful melody, beautiful instrumentals...Buddy Guy is brilliant!

  • respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's not about racism, you idiot -- it's about brotherhood, mutual understanding and the love of your fellow man -- the opposite of racism.

  • @carshagify It's about why racism is bad, you douchebag full of diarrhea.

  • This song is about racism, obviously.

  • He's amazing. I have seen him live a dozen times -- sometimes by himself, sometimes as part of a bunch of musicians. He is amazing. Fantastic musician, great showman, and a smile that makes you smile too. Also it's nice that he makes music that is good (not just great music (which it is) but I mean good in that it is good, godly, tells a good message). (okay, I am a bit nerdy). I just wish that he would get some radio airtime. Can't wait to see him again.

  • eine einfach chilige musik

  • He is good people. Very enjoyable.

  • God bless Buddy...

  • yesterday, april 18th, my parents got me tickets for my birthday (april 13th) to a Buddy Guy concert in kelowna, it was my first concert that I have ever been to, 74 years old and that man can still rock a guitar like no other, he loved us Canadian fans and wanted to play all night for us, all I can say is thank you Mom and Dad for raising me up with classic rock and the blues, what a great 17th birthday present :)

  • This is such a great song

  • A song so moving, it almost puts "What's Goin' On" to shame. I saw him perform this song in Erie the other night and it moved me to tears.

  • Can't wait for the 7 th of april in Montreal again Buddy !

  • @liliannejo I hope you enjoyed it. I saw him in Erie.

  • Buddy is playing a Jerry Jones Coral Sitar, a reissue of the old Danaelctro Coral from the 60's.

  • brilliant.thanks

  • I've seen him live and he puts on a show like no other, I could go see him a hundred times and never get bored. This song is just great, I just wish real music like this could get spread like the pop songs today are.

  • Nobody does it better than Buddy...Great song, great vibe, great singer...Is it just me or does Buddy not look like a black version of the Dalai Lama?

  • it all comes down to just one simple rule, you treat everbody the way you want them to treat you

  • I had the great honor to watch this great man live...

  • Had the pleasure to see him do this one live a while ago. His organ player's a hoot, too.

  • I would love to sit down and have a conversation with this man..hope you live forever Buddy....

  • CONGRATULATION

  • idol.. for the rest of my life

  • I want Buddy to adopt me

  • this song is fucking awesome! and the album too.

  • I believe he plays a Rogue STR-1 Pro Electric Sitar Guitar on this one.

  • we are all the same

  • Buddy is my personal blues god. He's in really good company~~I have a feeling Buddy and Eric will be joining up with SRV to form their newest band..."Raptured Not Captured)...and I'm sure it will be a smashing success!!! By the by,....If you get to heaven and want to go to the music section...and ask for your favorite genre...just .how far back does their Classic's section go? :)

  • WTF?! the guitar sounds so bad!!(not in a good way)

    still loved it

  • Just saw him at Bamajam Saturday night. They are a tremendous band and buddy is as talented as advertised. I worked my way right up to the front row right in front of him. It was an unexpected religious experience for sure.

  • If you've never heard true music at it's best....you've got a huge gift from God to us....Mr. Buddy Guy~~~~~~~~

  • this sent shivers down my spine when i saw him live at Blues n Roots festival in Perth. Amazing!

  • IMAGINE when we all 'get it' like Buddy sings:

    I've been around a while

    I know wrong from right

    Learned a long time ago

    We all gotta be careful

    How we treat one another

    Skin Deep

    Underneath we're all the same

  • buddy inspired me to be who i am right now and part of it is a blues guitarist.

but i dont think i will ever be as good as buddy

  • One of Buddys best!

  • how does he get that guitar sound?

  • Buddy is as smooth as black leather...I love this song...It's beautifully sad and peaceful.

  • Amazing !

  • Buddy sang this at the Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia at Easter, just the greatest, absolutaley fantastic.I was hoping that someone would put this song up.Many thanks.

    Peace and love

  • One of the best ever!

  • 2 things : 10/10 for the music, 11/10 for the lyrics

  • Great song for you Buddy. Thank you for it.

  • @captjack6874

    You're welcome =)

I wish I had more footage, but that's all, folks!

  • Buddy IS the Guy!

  • Buddy guy is the best ever!!!

  • Yes Yes Yes. Mr Guy was fantastic.

  • Totally agree with holddastud10

  • saw Buddy and BB King perform in NYC on friday. BB is slipping a little with age, still great though when he sings. Buddy rocked the show though. We all felt that that based on how they performed BB should have opened for Buddy, but because of his legendary history, of course, that would never happen.

  • I hope they will play in Europe sometime soon.

I missed Buddy in 2008 and I regret it a lot..

  • @RickFreeloader And you should. He was fantastic in Norway.

  • saw him 2 days ago in his club. Seat only 20' away. Great show. He never fails to deliver a true heartfelt performance.

  • If you haven't seen Budddy live, you have missed a genuine great performance.

I am born and raised in SF, CA and in the projects, so I do understand. We really are all the same. And I am white.....

  • Buddy sounds great when he slow things down and doesn't do that screeching thing.

  • fabulous rich tone on that unusual guitar, it must have seymour duncans or hotwired lace something or other...anyone know where i can get one of these...SO I CAN GIVE THE SHOP A WIDE BERTH..!

  • What guitar is that?

  • @tom36450 - it's an electric sitar. It's hard to make out the make or model in this video. You can sort of see the sympathetic strings on the upper side - they are not fretted and vibrate on harmonics of the regular strings that Buddy is fingering. Google Coral Sitar.

  • Buddy you are great and smooth as Tennessee whiskey!!!

  • what a beautiful song.. speaking as a 20 year old guy from england, as long as great people like buddy guy are around to inspire people like me, the blues will never die

  • When american music companies tried to stamp out Rhythm and Blues in the late 40s and 50s British and Irish teens took up the slack then produced their own brand of blues like Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, Peter Green, Gary Moore, Clapton, even Thin Lizzy. All partly inspired or derivative of the originals.

  • @ApexBozo amen.

  • buddy is one of the nicest people you could ever meet hes learned lifes lessons well and hes not bitter he came to the horse shoe here and i met him he signed my guitar great guy

  • what kind of guitar is he playing?

  • looks like a Jerry Jones Master Electric Sitar

  • amazing song and an amazing musician.

does anyone know where i can find the tabs but not just the cords. help with this would be greatly appreciated. thanks

  • what a good sonng ,awesome,,love it.

  • A song to listen to with the heart and let the soul move along to the beauty of its words. I want to teach my dear child this before she develops the attitude that still is the prision of the deep south. No matter what is said the attitude is still here and it needs to change before we can become one nation under God with love and care for all not just a select group.

  • I SEEN EM AT GATHERING OF THE VIBES 2009 you can see the video on here he did this song and i actually did cry it might have ben the acid and the E but trust some crazy feelings goin on there

  • shivers....If I could cry, I would...this was something outstandingly nice to me

    Addie

  • Buddy Guy is still as smooth and mellow as ever...That performance gave me goosebumps...This man truly is one of the greatest blues singers and guitarists of all time...Thank you Buddy!!!

  • I just go through seeing him at the Bedford, TX blues festival. Man, can he put on a great show

  • I never get tired of listening to him sing now this man can song.

  • Have to love it! SINCE I WAS THEEEREEEE!! On the show that day! And now I am a Buddy FAN! :-D

  • I have seen this man 7 times. I try and see him every time he comes near my town. Now before I say what I'm about to say, I'll tell you this. I've seen Clapton, BB, Cray, and a few more, and more than once. And every one of them are impeccable performers. I love them all. But none of them can touch the heart and soul that this man, Buddy Guy, puts in to each and every one of his performances. He is without a doubt.....my favorite Blues ARTIST ever!!!!!!

  • I have also seen them all along with the Stones to Pink Floyd and none put on a show like Buddy.

  • I just love this video this man have just the most wonerful voice that I have heard in A long time just amazing.

  • Saw him at the Hollywood Bowl last night July 12, 2009 and he is most amazing in person ...his new album Skin Deep is really worth the money... he is bawdy and funny and sincere...and a real gem! Deservedly in the Hall of Fame... I feel honored to have seen him perform!

  • yeah different people do have different tastes, if you don't like this song, you have pretty shitty tastes.

  • Buddy, You're the MAN !

  • @vintagezigg He gets that sound because of the bridge pick-up and the materials used for the body and the neck.. I'm sure it is not wood.

  • @RickFreeloader

He gets the sound on purpose, it's a SITAR (related to the traditional Indian Sitars, this one is a SITAR brand, actually).........and the neck IS rosewood. I'm not sure about the body, but I believe it's maple.

  • @RickFreeloader Actually, Rick, he's playing an electric sitar. Notice the harp above the strings. The twang comes from a resonator above the bridge. The only pick up is a single coil at the neck. I played that particular model a few months back, it sounded cool, but I never thought it to be applicable unless to add a little flavor in songs, and I was right, but Buddy uses it so well.

  • @RickFreeloader The sound is like that of a sitar. Buddy's instrument has sympathetic resonance strings, looks like an autoharp, above the six strings. The Turtles used one. George Harrison played Sitar, & is responsible for importing this sound into pop music. Ravi Shankar, his teacher, lives in Encinitas, CA. These instruments were made in the 60s&70s.

  • @hinsongerald Thanks for the info!

    Hasn't Ravi passed away?

  • @RickFreeloader

No he hasnt. And if you're thinking he is old, watch his concert in Sydney played on his 90th birthday. He's more alive than most of us youngsters wallowing under the dead layers of commerical music and political correctness.

  • @anhelo911 great news! Who has passed away recently, and was linked to the Beatles and to Indian music?

    Gotta find the Sydney concert!!

  • Skin Deep, Whu-huuu!!!! What a Pretty Song & so very True!! I am very familiar to being skin deep

  • Makes me proud to be a Chicagoan!

  • Makes me proud to be a decent human being.

    Keep 'em comin' Buddy.

  • great song

  • wow, gives me chills!

  • I LOVE Buddy Guy!

  • One leg to the east and one to the west. I'll go right up the middle and try my best. Yes, surprisingly vulgar. However he was good. Saw him a few hours ago.

  • Saw him at CPCC in Charlotte, NC last month. He was surprisingly vulgar in some of his jokes, but it added an element of comedy to the performance. He is the king of the blues, and if he ever comes to your town, please go. The amps were 20 feet tall, and he played solos while walking through the crowd. He put on a hell of a show, and I will never forget it. Thank you Buddy. After all these years, you are still the king. Skin Deep. Underneath, we all are the same. So true. Thank you.

  • omg what an............imdavidual guitar

  • This is such a great song! Lyrics are so true! Buddy Guy is awesome! Beautiful share, thanks so much!

  • Saw him in New London CT last night. He's incredible. You would never know he's 72 years old. He moves around like a 20 year old. His voice is loud and strong and he has awesome vocal control. If you have the opportunity to see him, GO! You won't regret it.

  • im seeing him on thursday but what songs did he play??

  • I seen him in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the best. You will not regret going to see him. He played his guitar at one point in the concert like he was a child in a candy store and smiled the whole time. George Buddy Guy is the KING OF THE BLUES..........iF YOU DISAGREE THEN YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE NOT SEEN HIM IN CONCERT AND YOUR OPINION DOES NOT COUNT.

  • different people have different taste..

  • Saw Buddy in Atlanta best show I have ever saw and that includes pink floyd the wall Buddy is pure music

  • what guitar is that he is playing?
