JUST MISSED!!! Henry Mancini's "Moon River" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 but spent exactly a half year in the Top 100 {26 weeks}!!!
You know, you look at the actresses today and then look at audrey hepburn. These so called actresses today cant do a movie without some point taking off their clothes! My god do I miss Audrey Hepburn! Could carry an entire movie without one stitch of clothing coming off.
It's called "class", my friend and Audrey had within every fiber of her being. Some "actresses" today couldn't spell the word class if you spotted them the last three letters of that word. RIP, Audrey!!
ZSUZSI, olyan bájos ez a film, ez a dal és persze Audrey. A mi szüleink biztosan nem láthatták '61-ben. Akkor a mozik szovjet filmeket vetítettek Európa közepén.

Seriously, Men's Health named Jennifer Aniston the most beautiful woman of all time. Thanks for this video of the great Audrey Hepburn. Men's Health can consider this our collective feet right in their dumb ass.
Fascinating. I used to sing it in 1963 at the highschool´s chorus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We even recorded an album with 12 songs. One of them, this one. Fascinating.
I was very fortunate to have the incredibly rare opportunity to have sung this song with 99 other kids at Carnegie Hall in NYC as a 100th birthday for composer Johnny Mercer when I was 14. This has been one of my favorite movies along with with my favorite song. If I ever were to become a Hollywood actress, I would love to give the audience the same feeling I feel whenever I watch Audrey Hepburn.
Truly one of the all time greats. The wonderful Audrey Hepburn at her absolute peak,George Peppard never looking more handsome in his finest performance,a top notch supporting cast, great direction by Blake Edwards and one of the great tear jerking finales of all time when the cat is discovered in the pouring rain accompanied by one of the most memorable of all Oscar winning songs by the great team of Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer
What a Master of music...... He was from my hometown, Ambridge, Pa. As a little girl, I played all of his albums and will always cherish this wonderfully gifted man that God Blessed us with & thank Him for such fond memories that bring so many of my loved ones back to me in memory when I sing them. Music like Henry's will always hold a very dear special place in my heart. Thank You Mr. Mancini. We all miss you as well as the movie industry, I'm sure.....
This was the theme song for our senior prom. The words are perfect for graduation. I have danced to more versions of this song than I can remember, but I still like Jerry Butler the best.
@7855waldo Oh jeezus, shut up with the drama you freak. What is it about You Tube where people think they have to be oh so fucking dramatic with their comments?
@DesignRec I put the same question to someone last summer who claimed to be a well-known trainer (of horses).
Not only did I later discover that he was not who he said he was (no big deal), but he had the balls to pretend that by asking that question, I was attempting to get information that would lead to identity theft (his).
I hope that answers your question. But if it doesn't (& it shouldn't), I'm a few days shy of age 60.
GOOD THING SHE SMOKED SO MANY CIGARETTES ENOUGH TO KILL HER - CAUSE IT DAMPENED HER BEAUTY ENOUGH TO LET THE WORLD KEEP SPINNING - IF WE HAD SEEN THE FULL FORCE OF HER, THE WORLD MAY HAVE STOPPED ABOUT 1961........
A kid in my class told this girl who had an Audrey Hebpurn folder in the iconic black dress from the movie "Who the fuck is that?". She yelled "THIS IS AUDREY HEPBURN AND SHE HAS MORE CLASS IN HER PINKY THAN YOU WILL EVER HAVE IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE." couldn't have said it better
No,, this movie is proof,,that at certain times in history, magic can happen. To me this was the beginning of the end for N.Y.C.,,just as Rome became a shithole so goes N.Y.C. ,,R.I.P. new york city.
You too are right, there's no one who can equal or surpassed the perfect beauty of this woman, I envy her leading man and husband, joke. Wheeewww. PERFECT!
I am 48 and from Chile. I grew up watching her movies in black and white TV. Later in VHS and DVDs. She is perfection to me. She is the measure of beaty for every other women I have ever met. No actress today has her beauty, class and presence. Never saw a neck so beautiful as hers. Hers eyes can melt the coldest heart. A real Queen...
Kid Koala does an awesome version of this for his mother, for taking him to buy his first turntables and remembering her listening to this on the long drive.
Capote, once sold the rights to the book to Paramount Pictures, would have preferred Marilyn Monroe in the role of Holly Golightly. Barry Paris recalls having heard Capote, once: "Marilyn was always my first choice to play the girl, Holly Golightly". When Hepburn was chosen in the cast, Capote accused Paramount of having bypassed on all fronts.

Why are you even typing the words "hip hop" under this fabulous thread. Oh god: Please do not compare Henry Mancini to a Shade Smoozy or a Dirt Big Sniffa. I'm glad I was born in 1959
@Badwsky the reason he mentioned "hip hop" is because a lot of "hip hop" draws from music of this era not to mention from henry mancini. Im in my twenties and if it wasnt for "hip hop" i wouldnt have songs like this on my playlist. its because of "hip hop" a lot of this music is introduced to people and kept alive because of it. thank you "hip hop" for introducing me to music like this.
KingMyron23, I'll take you to my time travel to the60's...wouldn't it be nice? Everything then might not be all nice and happy, but good old things make us so happy, why? Why?
There is no other song like this ever written. I was fortunate to hear this song played daily, for weeks, over the loud speakers at Whittier High School in 1962.
@EffLabels - The 'good ole days' weren't always good. It's true, there was a certain level of romance of times past, but all was not perfect. In some ways we have regressed, but in others, we have progressed.
@EffLabels Well you would have to fix a lot of things for that to happen. You would have to reverse multiculturalism, political correctness, affirmative action, and a whole lot of guilt, the pornographication of society, costly and immoral wars, fear, decadence, hedonism, apathy, over-population, and god knows how many more things.
@EffLabels Sorry bro. Yes, yes it is, but there are many, many, many positive things everywhere you look. ESPECIALLY if you look for them. Mainstream and non-mainstream knowledge.
Actually we are at the precipice, things are about to change, way beyond anyone's imaginations or experience. Have a nice day ^_^
Todays female movie stars seem to pale into insignificance when measured up against Audrey Hepburn. She was impossibly beautiful and elegant. I cannot think of anyone today who can hold a candle to her.
@CatAtomic99 She wasn't a prostitute. I've both read Capote's book and seen the movie more than once. She was a woman who was trying to land a rich man with her "charms." But she was no prostitute. She merely took a few favors and then bailed out. She would only sleep with a man she really loves.
@CatAtomic99 Yeah my mom had to tell me because I was so confused at the way she was acting. But then agian I was 17 and Ive always been pure at heart so I dont always pick up on those types of things.
no matter how much i love hip hop, rock or country you name all of em but one song that will always put my heart at ease and rain down my tears is Moon River. wish i lived during the 60s. :)
@KingMyron23 KM, I was in my early 20s when I lived in New York in the early 60s. It WAS thee time of my life. It will never come again. Everything was alive. The neo-folkies were trying to change the world. Middle Greenwich Village from Waverly Place down to West Houston and bounded by 6th Avenue and Laquardia, with Washington Square as a massive concert gathering place, was alive. That was the hippy part of it. The locale of Holly Golightly would be Lexington Avenue about 36th Street.
@KingMyron23 Right on, KM! Out of all the BAT actors, Mickey Rooney is the only survivor. Mancini, director, producer and writer Capote all passed away. I had a romance going during my last year in NYC. Lovely woman and I got married later on. She looks like Jackie Kennedy and is an actress. We've made some movies to cable/video together. No big screen. But still worth it.
@KingMyron23 let me tell you... this film was showing on the airplane during a flight after my world was falling apart.. a relationship came to an end and normally I wouldn't have started crying .. but what can I say?
Questo brano è un capolavoro assoluto firmato Henry Mancini. E' la Musica come questa che dovrebbe essere diffufa con ogni mezzo perchè questa musica verrà suonata e amata fintanto che esisterà l'essere umano.
My favourite song of all time!!! It always makes me feel better, no matter what. B at T is also my favourite book and Audrey Hepburn my favourite actress...I know...obsessed much...:P
LORD I LOVE THIS SONG....THE DREAMS OF MR MULDOON is now out on AMAZON KINDLE @2.99.The publishers said this book would make a great film.If you like The Wizard of Oz you will love THE DREAMS OF MR MULDOON.Best wishes.
This song brings back so many fond memories when I was a child. My mom would always play it on the radio and hum it while she was taking care of chores in and around the kitchen. I always pause and listen to the song as an adult, to this very day. My dad enjoyed the song as well. It reminds me of a more simple time. It remains a treasure and always tugs at my heart. I love rock 'n roll, but wish there were more songs like this.
JUST MISSED!!! Henry Mancini's "Moon River" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 but spent exactly a half year in the Top 100 {26 weeks}!!!

For those of us not fortunate enough to have been a live when this movie premiered, take my word for it, it had the impact of an atomic bomb.
Critics couldn't think of enough words to pay it proper homage.
And today, it stands up, time & changing tastes not having tarnished it a bit.
God bless America, a place where such magic can be created.

Perfect song and a perfect woman...(in my eyes she is the eternal beauty...highest perfection what human can reach or achieve)
cateran100 8 months ago 20
The melody is classic - but I just realized how brilliant the orchestration is, too. Harmonica for the melody - perfect choice.

Todays female movie stars seem to pale into insignificance when measured up against Audrey Hepburn. She was impossibly beautiful and elegant. I cannot think of anyone today who can hold a candle to her.
juscurious 8 months ago 29
@juscurious britney spears and hilary duff are so much classier.

She's a prostitute in this movie, isn't she? I didn't really pick up on that for the longest time.
CatAtomic99 8 months ago
@CatAtomic99 She wasn't a prostitute. I've both read Capote's book and seen the movie more than once. She was a woman who was trying to land a rich man with her "charms." But she was no prostitute. She merely took a few favors and then bailed out. She would only sleep with a man she really loves.
finnemccool 8 months ago
@CatAtomic99 Yeah my mom had to tell me because I was so confused at the way she was acting. But then agian I was 17 and Ive always been pure at heart so I dont always pick up on those types of things.

@Glinkaism1 Wow. That's what you call life! nowadays pssh u cant even imagine...
Thank you for sharing your story, hearing a person who lived during the 60s is just amazing,
lucky you lived during great actors era, what a sight to see!
KingMyron23 7 months ago
@KingMyron23 Right on, KM! Out of all the BAT actors, Mickey Rooney is the only survivor. Mancini, director, producer and writer Capote all passed away. I had a romance going during my last year in NYC. Lovely woman and I got married later on. She looks like Jackie Kennedy and is an actress. We've made some movies to cable/video together. No big screen. But still worth it.

@Glinkaism1 Wow simply great. You had and have a great life! Wish you a wonderful day and so on. You must be an old tough charismatic man.

Questo brano è un capolavoro assoluto firmato Henry Mancini. E' la Musica come questa che dovrebbe essere diffufa con ogni mezzo perchè questa musica verrà suonata e amata fintanto che esisterà l'essere umano.
