The TSA sucks, at Chicago O'hare, a TSA agent told me I would be fined $200 the next time I forgot that a water bottle was in my bag...if I did not have to catch a flight I was late for, I would have filed a complaint.

The problem with the TSA is that it exists. What will you say when you need a TSA card and submission to a background check to ride in a subway car, board a bus, leave you home after curfew? Nothing?! When I enter a courthouse, I pass a metal detector, and maybe have my suitcase checked for an explosive. So this individual was questioned by TSA and other law enforcement agencies as CNN stated at 1:25? Also, has anyone consider the possibilty that all that cash could be used to bribe an airport employee past the security checkpoint to do harm? I think it's interesting that he was even questioned about the cash. Clearly it has no bearing whatsoever on flight safety, and the amount does not even meet the threshold for financial institutions' federal requirement to report, not that it's relevant.
The question should never have been asked by the TSA agent in the first place.
They have a responsibility to verify that there is no presence of items that threatens flight safety, and that is where their rights to invade our privacy end.
The somewhat twisted irony is that he was stopped and harassed for carrying paper money... which happens to be printed by the fed unconstitutionally. Audit the fed and teach these airport guys that we have rights as citizens of the u.s.

I listened to the whole recording. The two clips here pretty much sum up the whole thing. Bierfeldt asked them about a dozen times what his rights are and if he has to answer them under law, and they never answered that. They were all assholes. Hopefully this becomes a big news story so something can be done for all the moronic "security" measures TSA takes. The whole nail clipper ban and limit on carry-on liquids are just a couple examples.
With society in the US obviously and eggregiously closing down on all possible fronts, lifetime citizens being forced to ask permission from the government to take a day trip into Canada or mexico, for instance, it's amazing to me that people are stil trying to get into the US these days.

If the airlines did it, then it would not be unconstitutional, but since the government is doing it, the Constitution applies, and they need probable cause and a warrant to search you.

The TSA sucks, at Chicago O'hare, a TSA agent told me I would be fined $200 the next time I forgot that a water bottle was in my bag...if I did not have to catch a flight I was late for, I would have filed a complaint.

The problem with the TSA is that it exists. What will you say when you need a TSA card and submission to a background check to ride in a subway car, board a bus, leave you home after curfew? Nothing?! When I enter a courthouse, I pass a metal detector, and maybe have my suitcase checked for an explosive. No nail clippers confiscated, no bottle of water disposal, and certainly no unlawful detention because I have large sums of cash in my pocket.

I think it's interesting that he was even questioned about the cash. Clearly it has no bearing whatsoever on flight safety, and the amount does not even meet the threshold for financial institutions' federal requirement to report, not that it's relevant.
The question should never have been asked by the TSA agent in the first place.
They have a responsibility to verify that there is no presence of items that threatens flight safety, and that is where their rights to invade our privacy end.

I listened to the whole recording. The two clips here pretty much sum up the whole thing. Bierfeldt asked them about a dozen times what his rights are and if he has to answer them under law, and they never answered that. They were all assholes. Hopefully this becomes a big news story so something can be done for all the moronic "security" measures TSA takes. The whole nail clipper ban and limit on carry-on liquids are just a couple examples.

My child sprained her arm & my sister in law put some spray on it to numb it. The next day we went through an airport screening & my child "beeped" so they took us out of line. She took off anything that had metal on it, including some bracelets. She kept beeping so we told the screener that she had been sprayed with some numbing spray the day before. The screener got all suspicious, asking "What was in that spray?!?!" Finally the idiots let us go. What were they gonna do next? Cut open her arm?

Way to go Steve! We definitely need to stand up for our rights and liberty - what's left of it. I think we are going to see more and more folks start standing up against the oppressors. None of their damn business why you were carrying cash.

I am usually totally humiliated every time I have to go through a TSA search.
If the airlines did it, then it would not be unconstitutional, but since the government is doing it, the Constitution applies, and they need probable cause and a warrant to search you.
The TSA should be abolished, and airlines should be allowed to conduct these searches.

Careful which powers of Government you go after, some my look like one thing but actually another. If your Family was being held hostage by jihadists would you want a nice, nice person to plead with them or a rouge S.O.B ignoring orders from some bureaucratic kiss ass to go shoot them all before they cut your families head off on pub TV? Majic.... I think ya kinda have to get over the whole government fear mongering fight terrorism BS. There is simply no useful purpose for DHS or TSA. Unfortunately it is mind sets much like yours that allow this nonsense to continue. Considering you have volunteered for the Sheriff dept and DHS you are now at odds with a great percentage of fellow travelers. Maybe your on the wrong side ! BUT the NDE was enlightening and VERY interesting.

I'm just saying there are two sides to every story and What did this guy act like when TSA got interested? That's a human thing, and then Fear mongering? There is a lot to be afraid of. Not just terrorists that is true! But "Whom ever it is" Illuminati or "The Man" Someone IS using this time of turmoil to establish a Nazi like hold over our country and may others in a NWO thing? But there have been warnings of this for years! Apathy has lead us here not "The Man" Some of "The Man" is us!

Exactly what are the odds that you or any one of us is going to be put in this scenario? Slim to none, unless of course you go out of your way to put yourself in a situation likely to get you targeted. Foreigner, do not hate us per se...they hatew our governments foreign policies. If you want to change their feelings about us, then push for policy change and non-intervention in other nation's affairs. It's not our job to force our beliefs on other nations, nor is it our right to do so.

I think the pocket Constituion is what caught TSA's attention.
I believe this airport was in Missouri right? That's the State that got into trouble for handing out memos to Law Enforcement to be on the look out for "Homeland Terrorist". Any Ron Paul supporters carrying copies of the Consitution.

By the way I do agree the TSA agent was an Adam Henry, But the attitude started on the other side and then the issue is just human to human.

I see your point. And it could be taken that way. I would'nt want to tick off a State Trooper at a road block.However,if I knew that I was legal, no DUI, or Speeding etc. I would get a little upset if the Trooper asked me to hand over my wallet. And then asked what I planned to do with my money.That's crossing the line. First,tell me if I've broken any laws. 2nd, read me my rights. And 3rd treat me with the same respect and tone of voice that a U.S. soldier has to when dealing with POWSs.

I don't believe in senseless lawsuits either...like, "Gee, there was no label warning that this paring knife could cut me; I sliced my finger while cutting apples--please give me three million dollars for pain and suffering." But a suit to arrest the unconstitutional power of the government is not frivolous; the courts of our country were designed not only to try criminals and mediate civil disputes but also to check the powers of government. Im ALWAYS on the secondary inspection list. my DHS first responder ID help? "No". if they let This upstanding American go how does it look when they detain a Baby killing scum bag Arab Al Queda gentleman. Stop these chicken $hit no nation zealots I'm I'll wait the 15 extra minutes -search me. That's why I show up 2 hrs early. Lets fight the real fights not TSA.

Actually, they forcibly opened the box and found that there was only cash inside. They had no cause to reasonably suspect Steve Bierfeldt of anything, other than a dubious "report" issued in Missouri (where he was detained) that lumped all Ron Paul supporters and other Constitutionalists into the "terrorist" category. Protecting us from Al Qaeda has feck all to do with detaining an American for carrying cash. To paraphrase Ben Franklin, what do you want--essential liberty or temporary security?

TSA Security is basically the equivelant of MALL Security... I don't believe in senseless law-suits and the waste of court time, BUT, obviously that TSA guy was a douche. Bravo to Steve for clamly and intelligently asking the kinds of questions we ALL as Americans should ask if put in that spot.

The TSA is a tyrannical organization which needs to be disbanded. The Authoritarian nature of this bureaucracy will NEVER be amended to respect the civil liberties and rights of Americans. As long as the TSA is allowed to survive the abuses of Americans will continue, unabated. And, as you have seen, the TSA "official" word was that it basically investigated itself and found itself innocent of any charge, and that it even had the right to continue these Fascist policies.

When "regular people" try to stand up for their rights, the media demonizes them as a nut. But let the ACLU get in on it & they suddenly find impartiality. It's like they are saying only the ACLU or the gov't knows what the people's rights are & that regular people are too stupid to know. The reason for "freedom of the press" is that "the press" is supposed to be the ally of people in defending our rights. Lately, you'd think they are working for the other side... or their own agenda.
