This design is actually quite brilliant, as it not only fills the "cheap and easy" niche, but it provides a framework for weather protection which only larger vehicles have been able to accommodate so far.
@KonClueZhen Not the inventor but the owner of the company, he bought the company after the segway was invented and being sold to the public. Jim Heselden bought the company from the inventer Dean Kamen . Heselden was on a path next to a cliff that was off limits to foot traffic, so the device was probably not really at fault. Do you blame an aircraft crach if the pilot owns the company but had little or no flight experience?
@KonClueZhen If the guy knew what he was doing, yes. But its about as ironic as a car dealer dieing in a car accident. But I get your point, just wanted to point out that the inventor had better sense then to drive on a crumbling cliff, while the johnny come lately probably needed training wheels. (considering the design, that would really looked weird.
@candr Yes, more than moderately hysterical looking. Regardless... A person who owns the company, whether they bought it, were given it, fell into it, etc... Dying on a product they create, that is presumably safe/flawless, regardless of the circumstances... is ridiculous. Like, I'M supposed to be fine... and YOU died?!
OH I bet you a dollar I could crash it! LOL Can't crash? Meaning what? If you drive it into a brick wall, nothing happens? Stupid waste of taxpayer money. I guess they're going to build it in a plant they build in Mexico, like the new one they just built after they got their bailout money? 500 million for a plant, built in Mexico, to build GM Chevrolet Camaros. Remember that next time you're looking to buy an "American" car from Gubbment Motors.
I would drive one if they added a gas or propane powered generator to the design so if it runs out of power you can switch over to the generator for longer trips.
people in rural areas may drive up to 50 miles one way to get to work and this only has a range of 20km or 12.4 miles so around here it would be impractical without a alternate source of power.
I agree with you!!! We are sooooooooooo behind on cars tech... it's already pass for flying cars... Now is time for auto-flying cars that will take cross-country!!!.
Ultimately once someone figures out a way to trick gravity and make a vehicle think it's going downhill all the time, our energy challenge will be meet, at least in this area.
A great promise, meanwhile, for parks, and places where this type of vehicle will be most appropriate.
@emforty2 what if your a robot and require a kilowatt of electricity to run for 10 minutes, and your bike gets crushed after it's first use taking 10 minutes? your bike now used a kilowatt of electricity in it's lifetime
it uses a gyroscope to mantain perfect balance, so it's virtually impossible, although there are certainly going to be some casualties involving drifters
Really, what good is it? Is it supposed to replace walking? Because it certainly isn't something that I'd venture out on the highway in, nor even the city streets.
Wait a sec, you think they have developed this in the past few months since the bailout? You seemingly have NO idea how long it takes to develop something like this.
Plus, maybe innovative products like this is what's going to save the company. Not another 4 door sedan.
here's what you all don't get. They are not saying this is the thing to own. They are trying new things and new technologies to find our alternative to the everyday gas guzzler. Maybe if you opened up you mind you would see that.
Hmm... Icy condidions? Steep Hills? Especially downhill? Will it go up steps? - cool if so. I think I'd feel safer on by bicycle, but I'd love to give one a short try. Stephen, Cambridge, England
I like the 2012 Pelosi GTxi SS/RT Sport Edition... its awesome (copy and paste the name) and check it out youtube.... the motor was designed by Al Gore!
I agree 25 billion and we get the electric rickshaw . But lets call it the Obama Buggy. General motors the Bernie Madoff of the car industry (watch your money disappear)
Now this I would buy... but only if they ban cars on certain roads and maybe at certain times. Give these little things their own lanes and the advantage in traffic and I would be in one of them, even though I own a car. They will probably be a fuel saving wonder and therefore should be cheap to run. Best for transport to work for sure. Who needs to lug 1 ton of metal to work every morning when i could hop into this and get to work quicker because i would have a dedicated lane!
Lets see...GM and all their great cars + Segway and the billions of those "transporters" they sold add them together and get this AMAZING thing! Two wrongs do not make a right. This is pathetic.
this is like an electronic wheelchair w/ a frame around it!!! yeah ok so if they made it impossible 2 crash than wht if sum humungo hummer or escalade or whtevr runs ovr it?! not so safe now is it?!?
For those of you who think this GM is junk, well, while I might agree, I also think cars/SUV's/etc. in general are glorified living rooms on wheels. More junk, costly infrastructure, dangerous, bad for the environment and sprawl.
Kinda lacks any cool factor. Dean Kamen "inventor" of the Segaway, probaly looking for an evolution of that stupid human transporter.
Best advice, skip the human transporter and just make it some kind of robotic delivery device. That way nobody feeling will be hurt as insults are thrown it's way as it is pittering down the street. Might even look cooler without dork human inside feeling selfconious.
What is your problem? That is not the same! In a motor cycle you could either be thrown or jump off, plus you where a helmet. This death trap I don't see anyone where a freaking helmet, andI by the looks of this sardine on wheels no front counter to make it from flipping frontwards or backwards on hard breaking. Which in turn the other drivers of regulalar size car from running over that small piece of shit.
This will be the first car ever to include a tofu holder, DVD player that only plays independent and arthouse movies, your choice of a rainbow or PETA bumper sticker, and a lifetime of mocking from your freinds and family, I hope you go bankrupt GM
@bluecrew08 well...actually this is a brilliant use of the bailout money. Segways run off a magnetic force....if we can make cars that run off magnets then we have created a car that uses no crude oil or creates any emission....This is called progress!
This is what the folks in San Fransisico want the rest of us too drive. It would be ueless going up thheose hills. As for coming downhill , the video doesnt demonstrate the brakes. If you want too mae an impressive video be the first person too descend Lombard street in this thing and live .

cool idea, great idea, bad quality video, and has the hallmarks of sinclaire C5 written all over it!!! most likely will follow the same path as the C5. unfortunately the world isnt as eco friendly enough yet to be seen driving in something like this. these kinds of cars will probably be more common place in a generation or two from now.
I've seen the tesla option, the ev1, the motoized wheels. Now I get it: you people are right!, this is a joke from GM to keep trying to sell SUV's. They are making time. Maybe they will get serious in 10 years when there will be no gas.
Has anyone heard the actual price of these machines? I keep hearing 1/3rd the price of a standard automobile. A standard car could be between 10,000 and 25,000 dollars. A few years ago Oldsmobile had a gas burning 3 wheel car that looked better than this thing and the price I heard at that time was $1,500.00 I guess it didn't catch on.
Great to go to the office. I think a production model should be completely covered, full extras and air bags. Besides, right now it is safer than a motorcycle. There should be a video with a sudden brake.
why does it say u cant crash this PoS? if its going 35 miles an hour.. and suddenly a kid JUMPS infront of that pOS guess what U JUSTCRASHED. f'ing LOL~~~~ uncrashable HAHAHAHHA BAWHHAHAHAH
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! excelente invento!!! felicitaciones a todos los que trabajaron en este vehículo, ojalá sea tomado como ejemplo y comenzemos a utilizar este tipo de transporte que no contamina el medio ambiente. :P
I cant wait till the government takes over GM like they did AGI, then they can outsource stupid engineering like this from people who havent a CLUE! Oh, by the way Im sure it still will cost around 25K for the base model.
I'd ride that thing to work since I'm not far from my job but that's about it. I kind of wish I had one now since my boyfriend moved out here from NYC and never had his license. It'd be a good way for him to get used to driving without learning in a huge van.
If I was still living in Chicago I'd probably use it a lot more. It'd help if the thing had some storage so I could take it grocery shopping.
"PUMA has sensors all around it that prevent it from crashing into anyone...it said it was impossible to crashed"...............You have never met my wife Einstein

I cant wait till the government takes over GM like they did AGI, then they can outsource stupid engineering like this from people who havent a CLUE! Oh, by the way Im sure it still will cost around 25K for the base model.

たぶんリカバリ出来ない状態にまで後傾させない為だと思う。
これがタイヤでは無くシューだと走行抵抗が掛かり過ぎ転倒する可 能性が強くなるからかもしれない。

This car was invented years ago by Mr. Garrison.

LeslieElite, this version differs from Mr. Garrison's on one key feature. It doesn't involve any anal damage
