So the states first went into Afghanistan to find Osama Bin laden, and then they stayed there to help promote democracy, and now the states have to stay there to... fight the soviets? To help the Afghani people? To defend the security of the united states? She really didn't clarify.
What she fails to realize is that our cut-and-run strategy after the Soviet-Afghan war was advocated by the CONSERVATIVES who didn't want to spend any money to rebuild the country.
Christine O'Donnell and Sharron Angle are the epitome of today's Republican Party. Die-hard, Damn-the-facts right-wingers who are filled with anger but have no real idea of what they're mad about.
It would be a horrible mistake to put these folks in power.
Are we sure Christine isn't a Blonde? Because, DAMN! She sure acts and sounds like one. There's just no getting around it, Christine O'Donnell is without a doubt the dumbest dumb person I have ever had the displeasure of hearing speak. She should crawl back into the hole she came out of and leave us, the American people out of her fantasy world.
The GOP has been reduced to racists, witches, homophobics, people who dress like Nazi's for a hobby, a woman who says you can trade 2 chickens for a visit to your doctor, Lunatics, morons, and Mormons.
@1911arthur Unfortunately the dumbest 1/3 of people in the country absolutely love these ignorant jackasses because their mindset is "Wow, their just like us!"
What bullshit, the mediator didn't give Coons an opportunity to respond and point out that O'Donnell is so ignorant about the situation that she isn't qualified to comment on the topic.
@GrandArchitect3D Wins what? She couldn't win running for DOG CATCHER.
She's an idiot.
The people of Delaware, are a lot smarter than that. Delaware, has over 500,000 registered voters of which 259,000 are Democrats and 180,000 are Republicans, with the rest as other.
O'Donnell, in the primary, got a whopping 5% of the total vote! She has absolutely zero chance. The math just isn't there. Do the math.
I've handicapped over 200 elections without EVER a miss.
Hello...McFly... F***! For your god's sake get a frickin' education woman. The Soviets' that you fought in Afghanistan don't even exist any more. Moron!
Talk about keeping fear alive, this woman really wants to show that she can go that extra mile.
reading the comments, and you guys calling O'Donnell moronic are being really shortsighted. She was referring to the secret CIA funding and covert ops to support the Mujahadeen freedom fighters. And by not finishing the job, She was talking about the fact that after the Soviets left we turned a blind eye to the Islamofascists like the Taliban taking over the country while we left our Northern Alliance friends high and dry.
@d00mie74 I hate this woman she is a mental midgit. However, you are correct and so is she. We financed and supported the Mujahadeen in a sort of proxy war against the Soviets. We left them flapping in the wind when the Soviets withdrew. We needed to finish the job then and today.
@redfistaor nope. what she said made no sense. We were supporting the mujahadeen, the forefathers of the Taliban. The job was finished once the Soviets withdrew. There was no other job to finish unless "Finishing the job" means killing the people we had just spent years supporting. She is likely confusing the Gulf War with war in Afghanistan.
@meeg2005 "Finishing the job" I could only assume means stand up a functioning government and get the on the road to peace. However, many hawks see that as wiping out the Taliban and all militias. The best way ahead is to bring in the moderates...kill the extremist and Al Queda and get a legit government up and running. That road is a long and hard process. I am not another "war-without-end" hawk, but leaving it now is repeating the past mistakes.
@d00mie74 wrong. we supported the "islamofascists," as you call them, in their fight against the Soviets. There was no one advocating for turning our guns on the very people we were supporting through 1990 until recently, and they're attempting to rewrite history. Her comment made no sense.
@meeg2005 Check your facts. The Taliban was a student group that arose from the southern madrasas. Although some were Mujahadeem during the Soviet occupation, but not all. After the Soviet retreat, the US could have stepped in the Vacuum and helped the Afgani people establish a free society. Afghanistan did have a democracy prior to the communist coup and Soviet invasion. Charlie Wilson(D-TX) proposed to do just that. Instead we did nothing, and the Taliban seized control.
@d00mie74 Mujahideen (Arabic: مجاهد muǧāhid, plural مجاهدين , muǧāhidīn, = "strugglers" or "people doing jihad") are Muslim fighters.[1][2] . The word is from the same Arabic triliteral as jihad ("struggle").
Eventually, the seven main mujahideen parties allied themselves into the political bloc called Islamic Unity of Afghanistan Mujahideen.
@meeg2005 Let me finish for you, IUAM was comprised of 7 power groups. None of those groups were the Taliban. One group, Islamic and National Revolution Movement of Afghanistan, split and fell apart in the early 90's during the civil war. The Taliban arose in 1994 with Pakistani ISI sponsorship and was comprised mostly of Afghan refugees who were recruited from madrases. It's all on Wiki, dude. The CIA never supported the Taliban, the US never even recognized the Taliban gov't as legitimate.
@d00mie74 Again, nothing you've said contradicts anything I said. They were the same PEOPLE who created the Taliban once the soviets had left. Mullah Omar, the supreme leader of the Taliban was one of your beloved Mujahideen. Perhaps you're trying to argue that Mr. Omar suddenly became a muslim fanatic only after the U.S. stopped supporting his people. Ya right. The "islamofascists" were freedom fighters when their enemy was the USSR. Now that the enemy is the USA, they are an evil menace
@meeg2005 All apple are fruit, but not all fruit are apples. Not every Mujaheddin were radicals. Most were a legitimate resistance to a foreign conqueror. And after the soviet retreat, there was a civil war between the moderate muslims and the fascists muslims. That is a fact of history.
@d00mie74 USA used all of them without any inquiry or other form of fanaticism litmus test. As long as they were killin commies they were A-OK. Give them stingers. And trust me, they see themselves as a legitimate resistance to a foreign conqueror right now. So again, what is O'donnell talking about when she says finish the job? The job was to eject and weaken the USSR.
@meeg2005 And I'm not trying to contradict you, I'm trying to correct your warped view of the history. Real history is never as simple good guys wear white hats and bad guys wear black hats. Unfortunately, that is exactly what your comments are suggesting.
@arakhachatran According to Wiki, which I know isn't the best source on the internet, the Taliban originated in the Pashtun areas of southern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. It's recruits consisted of Afghan refugee students recruited in Pakistani madrasas, teachers, and some small unit commanders of the mujahadeen. It was sponsored and supported by the Pakistani intelligence community.
@d00mie74 WIKI CAN SAY so many things...It is a source of mass-desinformation. Everyone can edit wiki. If Bhutto declares all over the world that Taliban was created by CIA why shouldnt I trust her. ANd Osama is a CIA agent. Yes, they did fight USSR with USA support as Mujahedeen's did. Actually it was Pakistan who was fighting with USSR. Thats why Pakis were getting immigratio papers and food stamps ASAP when they were in USA. But after you said Adeiu to them they began killing you!
@d00mie74 And after all of this USA wanted Russians to go back to Afghanistan and take part in this stupid operation;. Dumbasses. Guess what- we will never ever to go Afghanistan. Afghanistan never belonged to anybody, they always fight. We didt go to Afghanistan to kill them. We built schools for them. their students came to study in Moscow for free. The base Baghram where your aircrafts land today is built by Soviets.
@arakhachatran Wha...? Your first sentence about Wiki made sense, which is why I SAID it wasn't the best source on the internet, however, the statements I made can be verified thru other sources. The rest of what your talking about is a bunch of BS. Really, I don't know what else to say. Other than to let a reasonable person read the comments and make their own call, but really I don't know what your talking about and I don't think you do either.
@d00mie74 A typical republican red-neck's propaganda -KOOL AID! U are gonna drink KOOL AIDE after you realize that you lost November 3 with your masturbating witch
@d00mie74 The Salangs's moutainous road was built by Soviets. They only benefitted with Soviets presense. Nevertheless their islamic parties were destabilizing soviet republics of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tadjikistan. YOu know why? Coz the Northern provinces are indded populated by them. What they did. They used to bring and distribute drugs in those republics. Thats why we invaded Afghanistan. CIA was behind and is still behind of drug distribution
@d00mie74 And this cunt wants to go to "finish the drug job" there. Finish your hand job, you anti-masturbation bimbo! The only thing that unites uncivilized Afghanis, those cavemen is the heroin. For the rest. this is an artificially created country of 100 tribes that keep fighting for centuries. Thats why USA is there, to make profits of those drug deals. Afghanistan never belonged to anybody. The Britons realized that long time ago. The Soviets invaded to civilize them.
3. The soviets invaded not to civilize but to threaten Western Oil supply lines coming thru the persian gulf.
3. The whole CIA-drug conspiracy has been talked about for years. The fact is that the drug trade finances criminals and thugs like the Zetas and their equivalents around the world. Take your conspiracy theory's back to Alex Jones and Jesse Ventura.
@d00mie74 There were no pipelines passing through Afghanistan. And Afghanistan is far far away from Persian gulf. In order to destabilize Middle East Iran-Iraqi war was enough for the Soviets to keep the oil prices high. No need to invade that Stone Age dessert named Afghanistan. Again, we went there in order to expel American drug warlords and religious fanatics. They liked messing up with our Central Asian republics.
@d00mie74 Afghanistan was a part of Persian Empire thousands of years ago. There is no such a thing as Afghani people. Alex Jones or Jesse Ventura did not topple Taliban. It was GW Bush-idiot who removed Taliban from power. And since that the heroin production has only flourished.
this is what Gorbachev told BBC weeks after I wrote to you. Try to find the interview and watch it. Gorbachev on BBC about Afghanistan. This is one of the analytical videos.
@arakhachatran A failed communist who says he couldn't win so nobody can win. Sorry, dude, but I'm not convinced. Leftists always say you can't do it, you're just not good or smart enough. That's what happens when you surround yourself with intellectual cowards. People like that allowed the genocides of the 20th century to take place from germany to rwanda. The truth is 1 man can change the world. And a group of individuals working together can achieve anything.
@d00mie74 U can make a veggie steak, you can invent a flying car, but you will never create a peaceful and civilized Afghanistan. And your country knew about that. Nevertheless they invaded Afghanistan for moneylaundering and drug trafficking. Good luck. As USSR collapsed after that war, USA is going to do the same.
@d00mie74 She didn't articulate it and that is why she sounded moronic. It definitely was a failure on the part of the Reagan Administration to permit the establishment of a Theocracy which was apparently encourage by Pakistan, our erstwhile Ally.
@rystube1 Actually, it wasn't just Reagan. It was Pakistani intelligence agencies who created the Taliban. And that was from 1992-1996. Mostly Clinton years. Granted Bush 1 could have done more to support Massoud, but so could have Clinton. Stop trying to put on one faction. We did it together as a country. Both parties. conservative and liberal politicians.
in her IGNORANT and ILLOGICAL mind it's a "politically correct" statement to reference the FACT that we've spent over a trillion dollars fighting these wars....she's a fuckin fool...a cookie cutter clone of sarah palin...FACTS that are inconvenient to her political argument are "politically correct" statements....its a new BULLSHIT tactic that was created by right wingers on fox news....even most republicans talk about how much the wars cost...but now that's off limits to fools like her
I think when the government hacks who ruin all our lives get together and play golf, one of their favorite pastimes must be laughing at 'We the People' for electing officials that just keep getting dumber. And dumber. And dumber. I'm sure they have a real good laugh. Then they go bomb something and distribute more crack. I'm sure they appreciate the laugh, O'Donnell.
it's no surprise that palin supports this airhead....she's one of those people who is so dumb that she's scary....her ignorance is dangerous to this country
Not really. 911 cost the U.S. about $210B in the attack. So no, considering Pakistan, loose nukes going off in a major U.S. city, the war and establishing a stable government is a bargain. Saying different is just uneducated and politically correct. If everyone is saying it can't be done then I'll eat my words. What happened to Obama's 16 month exit during the debates, or the Democrats timetable bullshit on Bush. Obama wins and the Dems are all we'll let Obama decide.
@coffeenuts44....WTF are u talking about...obama's timetable was for iraq...and we did proceed with the withdrawl on schedule....you're just throwing random shit out there
She said: "We need to finish the job against the Soviets." WTF????? And I doubt if this wacko even knows we were funding the Mujahadeen! That would be WAYY over her air filled head.
What the fuck are all you moronic people talking about?
The "job" is establishing a functional government in Afghanistan, we were fighting them, i.e Russia, to a tune of over $500 million a year, CIA ops, etc. And no we didn't finish the "job", we pumped billions into it and walked away when the soviets finally pulled out.
@coffeenuts44 We did that because that's exactly what the plan was. We had no long term strategy going either time we fucked around there. If you're worried about stabilizing the country, funding and arming terrorist organizations would have been your first choice.
@coffeenuts44 oh yeah because rightwingers like ronald reagaon & co. were ALLL about "nation-building." Enough revisionist history. The job WAS finished. USSR collapsed.
When I hear Christine O'Donnell talk about somebody's lack of support for a war as if it is a threat to the "security of our homeland", I can't help but think of Joseph McCarthy. I only wish we still had an Edward R. Murrow to take care of this latter-day fascist.
Christ, I hope she runs for president!! I didn't think you could come up with a dumber comment than, I can see Russia from my house. She just wants to be a star, like we made Sarah Palin one because of her stupid comments.
Umm a couple things: 1.) we were never fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan. we may have funded the Mujahadeen, but we never fought the Soviets. 2.) What does she mean when she says "we have to finish the job against the Soviets"??? There haven't been any Soviets FOR 20 YEARS. *facepalm* this broad is very very STUPID.
The Soviet Union is dead, and the mujahideen sent them packing! What job did we not finish?? Learn a bit of fucking history, O'Donnell. What a fucking cheap shot to use as if it's somehow relevant to 2010. This is exactly why this woman is unfit for office.
@ETericET wait let me get my Canadian citizenship first... OK lets bomb the fuck out of these fuckers!!!! IF YOU DONT LIKE JESUS AND SPEAK ENGLISH TNE FUCK YOU THESE COLORS DONT RUN!!!!
@ETericET in all honesty at the moment russia would probably shit all over the US right now they may not be unified currently like the days of the USSR but they would be pretty quick against the US, not only are there just some people in power who only "tolerate" the US theres also a rather large fundamentalist and general muslim population in eastern europe. China's not quite at the point but they are getting damn close and why make hamburgers if the cash cow's shit is still green?
@Raphael2885 I was just joking hopeing to bring some thought. As far as China goes, they didn't shoot down one of there own satilies for nothing. The US star wars program so far has been able to hit nothing. Let the far right keep thiniking that war is the solution to all problems and the US can attack anyone they want. Rome fell the same way.
im sure she means that we didnt finish the job by rebuilding afghanistan and making sure that it would not become a haven for terrorists and islamic extremists...right?
Chris Coons pretty much has that look on his face the entire time that says, "Is this bitch seriously dumb?" God, I hate to sound sexist, but she's a dumb broad who brought back intelligent female politicians about a few decades (along with Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann).

reading the comments, and you guys calling O'Donnell moronic are being really shortsighted.

@d00mie74 Oh Yeah, she has depth, plenty of historical undertones, I got it now. ")
TPAUSA 1 year ago
@d00mie74 I hate this woman she is a mental midgit. However, you are correct and so is she. We financed and supported the Mujahadeen in a sort of proxy war against the Soviets. We left them flapping in the wind when the Soviets withdrew. We needed to finish the job then and today.
redfistaor 1 year ago
@redfistaor nope. what she said made no sense. We were supporting the mujahadeen, the forefathers of the Taliban. The job was finished once the Soviets withdrew. There was no other job to finish unless "Finishing the job" means killing the people we had just spent years supporting. She is likely confusing the Gulf War with war in Afghanistan.
meeg2005 1 year ago

Her comment made no sense.
meeg2005 1 year ago
@meeg2005 Check your facts. The Taliban was a student group that arose from the southern madrasas. Although some were Mujahadeem during the Soviet occupation, but not all. After the Soviet retreat, the US could have stepped in the Vacuum and helped the Afgani people establish a free society. Afghanistan did have a democracy prior to the communist coup and Soviet invasion. Charlie Wilson(D-TX) proposed to do just that. Instead we did nothing, and the Taliban seized control.
d00mie74 1 year ago
@d00mie74 Nothing you just said contradicts anything I said.
meeg2005 1 year ago
@d00mie74 Mujahideen (Arabic: مجاهد muǧāhid, plural مجاهدين , muǧāhidīn, = "strugglers" or "people doing jihad") are Muslim fighters.[1][2] . The word is from the same Arabic triliteral as jihad ("struggle").
Eventually, the seven main mujahideen parties allied themselves into the political bloc called Islamic Unity of Afghanistan Mujahideen.
meeg2005 1 year ago
@meeg2005 Let me finish for you, IUAM was comprised of 7 power groups. None of those groups were the Taliban. One group, Islamic and National Revolution Movement of Afghanistan, split and fell apart in the early 90's during the civil war. The Taliban arose in 1994 with Pakistani ISI sponsorship and was comprised mostly of Afghan refugees who were recruited from madrases. It's all on Wiki, dude. The CIA never supported the Taliban, the US never even recognized the Taliban gov't as legitimate.
d00mie74 1 year ago
@d00mie74 Again, nothing you've said contradicts anything I said. They were the same PEOPLE who created the Taliban once the soviets had left. Mullah Omar, the supreme leader of the Taliban was one of your beloved Mujahideen. Perhaps you're trying to argue that Mr. Omar suddenly became a muslim fanatic only after the U.S. stopped supporting his people. Ya right. The "islamofascists" were freedom fighters when their enemy was the USSR. Now that the enemy is the USA, they are an evil menace
meeg2005 1 year ago
@meeg2005 All apple are fruit, but not all fruit are apples. Not every Mujaheddin were radicals. Most were a legitimate resistance to a foreign conqueror. And after the soviet retreat, there was a civil war between the moderate muslims and the fascists muslims. That is a fact of history.
d00mie74 1 year ago
@d00mie74 USA used all of them without any inquiry or other form of fanaticism litmus test. As long as they were killin commies they were A-OK. Give them stingers. And trust me, they see themselves as a legitimate resistance to a foreign conqueror right now. So again, what is O'donnell talking about when she says finish the job? The job was to eject and weaken the USSR.

d00mie74 1 year ago
@d00mie74 dont lie. late bhutto stated that taliban was created by amurkans
arakhachatran 1 year ago
@arakhachatran According to Wiki, which I know isn't the best source on the internet, the Taliban originated in the Pashtun areas of southern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. It's recruits consisted of Afghan refugee students recruited in Pakistani madrasas, teachers, and some small unit commanders of the mujahadeen. It was sponsored and supported by the Pakistani intelligence community.
d00mie74 1 year ago
@d00mie74 WIKI CAN SAY so many things...It is a source of mass-desinformation. Everyone can edit wiki. If Bhutto declares all over the world that Taliban was created by CIA why shouldnt I trust her. ANd Osama is a CIA agent. Yes, they did fight USSR with USA support as Mujahedeen's did. Actually it was Pakistan who was fighting with USSR. Thats why Pakis were getting immigratio papers and food stamps ASAP when they were in USA. But after you said Adeiu to them they began killing you!
arakhachatran 1 year ago
@d00mie74 And after all of this USA wanted Russians to go back to Afghanistan and take part in this stupid operation;. Dumbasses. Guess what- we will never ever to go Afghanistan. Afghanistan never belonged to anybody, they always fight. We didt go to Afghanistan to kill them. We built schools for them. their students came to study in Moscow for free. The base Baghram where your aircrafts land today is built by Soviets.
arakhachatran 1 year ago

@d00mie74 The Salangs's moutainous road was built by Soviets. They only benefitted with Soviets presense. Nevertheless their islamic parties were destabilizing soviet republics of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tadjikistan. YOu know why? Coz the Northern provinces are indded populated by them. What they did. They used to bring and distribute drugs in those republics. Thats why we invaded Afghanistan. CIA was behind and is still behind of drug distribution
arakhachatran 1 year ago
@d00mie74 And this cunt wants to go to "finish the drug job" there. Finish your hand job, you anti-masturbation bimbo! The only thing that unites uncivilized Afghanis, those cavemen is the heroin. For the rest. this is an artificially created country of 100 tribes that keep fighting for centuries. Thats why USA is there, to make profits of those drug deals. Afghanistan never belonged to anybody. The Britons realized that long time ago. The Soviets invaded to civilize them.
arakhachatran 1 year ago
@arakhachatran
1. Afghan culture goes back thousands of years.
2. Afghanistan belongs to the Afghan people.
3. The soviets invaded not to civilize but to threaten Western Oil supply lines coming thru the persian gulf.
3. The whole CIA-drug conspiracy has been talked about for years. The fact is that the drug trade finances criminals and thugs like the Zetas and their equivalents around the world. Take your conspiracy theory's back to Alex Jones and Jesse Ventura.
d00mie74 1 year ago
@d00mie74 There were no pipelines passing through Afghanistan. And Afghanistan is far far away from Persian gulf. In order to destabilize Middle East Iran-Iraqi war was enough for the Soviets to keep the oil prices high. No need to invade that Stone Age dessert named Afghanistan. Again, we went there in order to expel American drug warlords and religious fanatics. They liked messing up with our Central Asian republics.
arakhachatran 1 year ago
@d00mie74 Afghanistan was a part of Persian Empire thousands of years ago. There is no such a thing as Afghani people. Alex Jones or Jesse Ventura did not topple Taliban. It was GW Bush-idiot who removed Taliban from power. And since that the heroin production has only flourished.

d00mie74 1 year ago
@d00mie74 U can make a veggie steak, you can invent a flying car, but you will never create a peaceful and civilized Afghanistan. And your country knew about that. Nevertheless they invaded Afghanistan for moneylaundering and drug trafficking. Good luck. As USSR collapsed after that war, USA is going to do the same.

@d00mie74 She didn't articulate it and that is why she sounded moronic. It definitely was a failure on the part of the Reagan Administration to permit the establishment of a Theocracy which was apparently encourage by Pakistan, our erstwhile Ally.
rystube1 1 year ago
@rystube1 Actually, it wasn't just Reagan. It was Pakistani intelligence agencies who created the Taliban. And that was from 1992-1996. Mostly Clinton years. Granted Bush 1 could have done more to support Massoud, but so could have Clinton. Stop trying to put on one faction. We did it together as a country.
