Are you seriously saying that because Obama is pro-choice that you're not surprised he doesn't respect the lives of others? First of all, there's no evidence he doesn't care about other people's rights, but more importantly, you pro-life people act as if the equation of a fetus and an independent person is self-evident. People who are pro-choice see a difference, which means being pro-choice has nothing to do with how a person respects individuals.
I don't get why you think it's such a big deal that you let someone who disagrees with the church speak there. Notre Dame is a school, and the president can be very inspiring to students, even if the students disagree with him. I don't know the facts of the arrest, but obviously if he was peacefully protesting he shouldn't have been arresting, but being a priest at a catholic school doesn't give him special status. The soundness of the arrest is irrelevant to who he is.
@LanceDirk I don't believe that the priest arrested was associated with Notre Dame in any way other than the fact that he was Catholic. Basically, he was warned by police not to trespass, he trespassed onto private property anyway, and was arrested. Peaceful protest or not, trespassing is trespassing.
This father Nathan in this video neglected to mention those few facts. His rationale seems to be that every catholic priest has the right to enter any catholic institution to protest.
One more thing. I find it quite ironic that you criticize Notre Dame for preventing a priest from expressing his opinion and that you say everyone has a right to express their opinions, but in the same video, you criticize the staff and students of Notre Dame for not doing more to prevent Obama from speaking. I agree with you. I used to work at Notre Dame High School here in Riverside, Calif. It's disgusting to me too most of the staff and faculty and sadly most of our students supported Obama in his presidency and his speech at Notre Dame.

Right on Father! Father Jenkins should be censored by his superior and, in my opinion, removed from Notre Dame University in any teaching fashion. Better this than for him to face Eternal Judgement.
OOps I subscribed because you seem like a really nice guy - your president has the Anglo Saxon rite to speak his mind - silence him and you silence America. Silence America and you silence everybody. Freedom of speach, thought, ideas, concepts is what makes every country great! Please accept my comment in a good way.
@flyingfisbeefilms I agree with you completely. He has the right to say what he wants. However, that only works so long as this priest has the right to protest what Obama says.
@flyingfisbeefilms I don't think so because for me being pro-life is not simply a "religious" view. The debate would exist even if we took religion out. There are countless heated debates amongst politics that have nothing to do with someones religious views. Even those that have resulted in people protesting political leaders speaking at schools (see Ahmadinejad)
Lol it's spelled pathetic for the last time. And Notre Dame is a Catholic School! Therefore it's not an issue of separation of Church and State it is an issue of contradiction of Catholic Social teaching. It is the fundamental obligation of the Catholic institutions to uphold Catholic teaching.
don't you know? there's no free speech on college campuses, especially private colleges... you have to "get permission" to protest. a great lesson to young Americans... :P
I think there's a right way and wrong way to do things and I don't believe the arrest of Fr Weslin was handled very well but let's look at it from this angle.
If I'm paying tens of thousands of dollars each year (not just thousands and thousands) I really don't want a bunch of people, priests or not, disrupting the over priced education my child is attempting to receive. Just because you're a priest does not automatically give you the right to protest. You need to follow policy first..
This world is so messed up and so are the people that defend the sinfull acts of this world. why though are good Americans just sitting on there butts and not doing anything about this. Abortion must be stoped, its just wrong, In the U.S. Constitution it clearly states that all people have the right to LIFE, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. does anyone know whays going on in this country or do they just not care.......... God Bless you Father and thank you for this wonderful video.
Yawn Another Illogical thinker in this video The priest and his group he was with did not get permission to protest on Notre Dame property. If weslin wanted to speak the the Staff on a one to one basis There is no doubt that they would have been happy to do so.
Instead he protests with a group of people that did not want to get permission so they could get arrested to STAGE an EVEVT and intentionally get Arrested.
Something similar is happening in Latinamerica, authoritarism against the poorest, the unborned. Catholic universities in Latinamerican also are loosing their true, are changing the true in order to relativism, antinatalism and the theory fo liberation (marxism), something that I see in USA. Jesus said I am the life, who believe in me will not die. We see in all the world the abortion, product of a culture of death, killing poverty killing unborned
go father!!! stay strong, and you are 100% right. i don't know where you are currently located, but i can promise you that in Texas at my university that we are fighting to close down our abortion mill and that we pray everyday for a nation that does not kill its own, whether through capital punishment, euthanasia or abortion. i appriciate your words and encouragement!!! thanks

What ever happened to "Thou shall not judge" father? By the way, you have the same rights as everyone else. A priest is nothing more than a man. It is rather vane to think you are better than those who chose something in life other than the service of god. By catholic standards you are a sinner for your comments.
Less than 1% of priests have ever committed pediophilial acts. Your statement is absurd, unfounded, and completely out of place.
Yes, I disagree with the priests who have done this. They should be removed of their office and put in prison for the rest of their lives. But those grotesquely anti-Christian 'priests' do not define the acts of the great majority.
Review all the versions of the video, not just the edited ones that start and end with moving musical scores and you will see and hear there were, in fact, attempts by the police/security to get these people to stop what they were doing on private property. Regardless of your view on the argument you had to see this. The people refused to stop, but kept moving forward, and in my view, did what they did so they could call this priest a "victim". There are other ways to make your voice heard.
Again, this was not PRIVATE PROPERTY! this was ecclesiastical property owned by the church. This priest had every right to be on such property regardless of what any staff may say. The only person who could stop this priest from being on that property is the Bishop. They aren't using any different tactics then Civil Rights protesters used in the 1960's... do you think they should have done it differently?
Oh there is a priest on youtube, well i have become spiritually distress'
there is a group on youtube that thinks animals dont have any rights.#These people make video's defending there right to abuse animals in a very disturbing way. I have tried to reason with these people but it hasnt worked. These people call themselves zoos. Oh the horrors these people need devine intervention. please say a prayer for them.
If it was not for the knowledge that abortion was actually a good thing in many many cases, I too, would call myself pro-life.
I would say that the vast majority of those of us who care enough about mankind/ womankind to take a stand on the abortion rights issue really are more pro-life then pro lifers. That is because we concern ourselves with what kind of life that 'baby will have after being born.
Pro and Life are only words with what ever meaning you want then to mean. I prefer to call those obsessed with fetuses going full term as anti choice, anti abortion. or just plain faith tarded.
I do not see how any gun totin , gay hating , capital punishment loving Republican can call himself pro life.
I agree. I however do not hate gay people nor am I pro capital punishment or the war. I believe if one is to be pro-life they must me wholly pro-life. I personally and strongly disagree with the murder of this abortionist.
I have given the whole business of having to deal with the extreme right anti abortionists a lot of thought, especially sense the failed protests at ND
Do you know how many abortion doctors were killed during Bush's presidency? NONE Why? There was still hope the conservative right Republican goverment might be able to change the law. Now there is little hope that will ever happen. That is making the real extremists even more desperate . These preachers preaching 'Gods will' isn't helping
Though I do not agree with the slaying of this abortionist I will say that I find it mildly amusing that you call this a war but then are surprised that there are casualties of war.
Secondly, I am not an ultra right extremist. I am very far from that. I am pro-life for sure but I am anti-war, anti-death penalty, etc. I believe for one to be pro-life they most be completely, totally and wholly pro-life in ever sense of that word.

The one thing you have to realize when you come on here sharing your views on abortion while wearing that collar, many people with mental health issues, like the man who killed the doctor, manifest their delusions as a closer relationship with God. You need to be careful in your zeal to stand up for what we believe is right , you are not inadvertently promoting militancy.
Well, if that guy who was running into that Church was carrying a picture of me in his wallet and the last thing he watched was my video then I am very sorry... however, I doubt thats the case.
Nothing I've ever promoted on my videos could even come close to encouraging the harm of another person pre-born or otherwise.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I am not finger pointing at you personally LOL. Actually I think you are as cool guy in spite of the fact you are a priest. I am making a generalization about the efforts of Fr Frank and John Corapi and people like Bill OReilly.
Don't get me wrong... a lot of those guys are in the game for the wrong reasons. Very few of them are willing to make a personal sacrifice to help another. All I really see out of a lot of the "pro-life" groups is showmen pomp. They like to walk around with caskets with aborted babies in them and argue and debate, etc... very few groups simply DO something and that is the problem. If more of these people were willing to stop judging and maybe adopt a baby the world would be different.
have you ever heard of Stand to Reason and Greg Koukl? I know that he has made a stand against abortion and has adopted 2 girls (in his mid 50's). Though you might disagree on some areas (or maybe a lot), I think it is important to let you know there are some out there that do adopt.
Contrary to what you read here from those of us who vigorously support a woman's right to choose and those on the hard right that believe terminating a pregnancy is the greatest sin on earth, There are a lot (54%) of moderate Catholics who might not personally like abortions are not so faith-tarded as to think they can make them go away. Even the popes silence on the ND Obama controversy speaks volumes that rational minds do not make the most noise
It does fit in with the coming test of the church, doesn't it? Is had been spoken of for many years. We will start seeing things we never thought we would. have patience, it will not be forever.
EelMan4 Both the school administration and the overwhelming majority of the student body supported the invitation of the president to speak at the commencement. The students and faculty who were opposed where not denied their right to free speech. The outsiders who protested outside the schools property were allowed to do so if they conducted themselves in a lawful and orderly fashion. Those arrested were arrested for trespassing.
They had been forewarned by campus security to retreat.
Do you have statistics to back up that the majority of students wanted Mr. Obama to speak? The administration is responsible to the Catholic Church and its Laws which they did not. Their personal feeling and morals (or lack there of) are not higher then the Laws of the Church which they work for are are obligated to. Finally, this individual who was arrested is a Catholic priest and therefor should be allowed, with out fear, on any Catholic property.
"statistics" LOL You didn't happen to watch the ceremonies did you? The group of seniors that went along with outside influences and boycotted their graduation could have held a conference in a phone booth.
As far as ND being a Catholic property, campus security were following Indiana state laws. ND a private Roman Catholic research university and not a church.
I really don't care about the president being allowed to speak or not, but an 80 year-old Catholic priest being arrested on a Catholic campus for protesting is just totally insane and outragous.
EelMan4 The arrest was filmed. Security were very pleasant with the old man and treated him with as much dignity as possible when arresting him. What I think is insane is, how the ultra right bend twist and cherry pick facts to suite there agenda.
I guess that comes from taking morals out of the bible?
The facts are its a Catholic university and he is a Catholic priest. As I stated before this priest should be allowed, with out fear, on any Catholic property in the world!
And yes the police and security were so pleasant that they broke his arm!
"And yes the police and security were so pleasant that they broke his arm" I wouldn't even think of accusing a member of the clergy of lying but I did an advanced google search and found no unbiased credible sources of your claims.
"priests should be allowed, with out fear, on any Catholic property in the world!"
Did you find anyone covering the story other then Catholics? I'd be surprised! This story has kept its way out of the media pretty well.
And no that is not my opinion. Ecclesiastical property is always owned by the Bishop (The Third Plenary Council (tit. IX, cap. ii, nn. 267-8) and therefor part of the Universal Church.
Be it a Church building or a university it is property of the Church. A Catholic priest, in good standing, does have access to such property unless denied by the Bishop.
Its worth noticing that there are a lot of media attention given to pro abortion killings; but, never really much given to pro life advocates getting murdered.
While I completely agree that something is very wrong with what happened with the priest being arrested at a Catholic University, this is just par for the course. The Roman Catholic Church opened this door back in 1965 when VII "opened the windows to let some fresh air in". I was working on becoming Roman Catholic until I saw that 54% of Catholics voted for President Obama. So what do you expect. It is sad and unfortunate but the house cleaning is coming.
If you're not working on becoming "Roman Catholic" anymore you can try the Western Rite of the Antiochian Orthodox Church! Although they probably voted very similarly to Latin Catholics...
Don´t worry in al the world happens the same. You know the social Doctrine of the church. My grandma, uncles ("catholics) voted for a candidate president who wants a law for abortion. They really don´t know about, the true, the Social Doctrine, the love to Jesus. In Spanish son medio catolicos, cuando les conviene, no conocen a Jesús y a María
I think it is great that these men of God stood up for their faith. It gives me hope! Hope that we, as Catholics (Roman, Old, whatever) and even Protestants can join together to protect life
President Obama didn't arrest the priest. Please do not scapegoat him.
Otherwise, these are words of encouragement. My opinion about the college allowing our President to speak are mixed, but I am very upset to hear about this arrest.
sevral teachers called the cops not the president did not have him arrested, but catholics have been arrested since queen elizabeths time.if you go to jail they force catholics in north carolina to listien to baptist preachers and do not allow catholic inmates the right to see a priest.
Private property or not, Notre Dame should not have adhered so stringently to its rigid rules on this occasion. Alan Keyes, Father Weslin, and the other protesters were just doing their job.
So while I respect the rights of private schools to do as they will legally, Notre Dame can and must be treated harshly by not just Catholics, but the Christian community as a whole. They had a choice, and they blew it.
It is a microcosm of the abortion debate, and a telling one at that.
I am a protestant, and I do not agree with all Catholic teachings (the death penalty is one--I am for it). But I am not completely oblivious to the implications of these arrests, and on the issue of abortion, I do not see why there is any question, especially to Christians.
I respect laws about private property, permits, etc. Law enforcement was doing its job. Notre Dame, however, was not, and that is why we saw a priest taken to jail that day. (continued)
i dont disagree with hanging a crimanal but i do disagree with the goverments take on obortion women do not have the right to ther bodies if someone is growing inside them (a unborn baby) the baby could be a great artist or singer what would happen if bejeman fraklin was aborted or dolly parten or arthea franklin or rembrant you never no these unborn babies could be famous one day,so why kill them.
I'm blown away too padre. The picture of that priest getting arrested stuck in my brain. ND is not a "Catholic university" and shouldn't be allowed to call itself that anymore. The Church is sick. I'm going Byzantine or SSPX.

OOps I subscribed because you seem like a really nice guy - your president has the Anglo Saxon rite to speak his mind - silence him and you silence America. Silence America and you silence everybody. Freedom of speach, thought, ideas, concepts is what makes every country great! Please accept my comment in a good way.
flyingfisbeefilms 1 year ago
@flyingfisbeefilms I agree with you completely. He has the right to say what he wants. However, that only works so long as this priest has the right to protest what Obama says.
FatherNathan 1 year ago
Thanks for replying but surely if we remove religion from these situations then then the problem wouldn't arise?
flyingfisbeefilms 1 year ago
@flyingfisbeefilms I don't think so because for me being pro-life is not simply a "religious" view. The debate would exist even if we took religion out. There are countless heated debates amongst politics that have nothing to do with someones religious views. Even those that have resulted in people protesting political leaders speaking at schools (see Ahmadinejad)
FatherNathan 1 year ago 3
You are right. You are "blown away" by Obama speaking at a catholic University.
I can see your point.
We can't have open minded thinking and tolerance at a religious educational institution.
How old are you? You look about 35, but you talk like a medieval peasant.

MrOffshore 2 years ago

How do Old Catholics consider present Roman Catholics?
RockyBalboa211 2 years ago
Something similar is happening in Latinamerica, authoritarism against the poorest, the unborned. Catholic universities in Latinamerican also are loosing their true, are changing the true in order to relativism, antinatalism and the theory fo liberation (marxism), something that I see in USA. Jesus said I am the life, who believe in me will not die. We see in all the world the abortion, product of a culture of death, killing poverty killing unborned

What ever happened to "Thou shall not judge" father? By the way, you have the same rights as everyone else. A priest is nothing more than a man. It is rather vane to think you are better than those who chose something in life other than the service of god. By catholic standards you are a sinner for your comments.
abadhiggins 2 years ago
Less than 1% of priests have ever committed pediophilial acts. Your statement is absurd, unfounded, and completely out of place.
Yes, I disagree with the priests who have done this. They should be removed of their office and put in prison for the rest of their lives. But those grotesquely anti-Christian 'priests' do not define the acts of the great majority.
2008805 2 years ago 2
Review all the versions of the video, not just the edited ones that start and end with moving musical scores and you will see and hear there were, in fact, attempts by the police/security to get these people to stop what they were doing on private property. Regardless of your view on the argument you had to see this. The people refused to stop, but kept moving forward, and in my view, did what they did so they could call this priest a "victim". There are other ways to make your voice heard.
okiechessking 2 years ago
Again, this was not PRIVATE PROPERTY! this was ecclesiastical property owned by the church. This priest had every right to be on such property regardless of what any staff may say. The only person who could stop this priest from being on that property is the Bishop. They aren't using any different tactics then Civil Rights protesters used in the 1960's... do you think they should have done it differently?

LiberalElitistMedia 2 years ago

LiberalElitistMedia 2 years ago
The protests failed because our government has failed to uphold the constitution.
FatherNathan 2 years ago

LiberalElitistMedia 2 years ago
Well, if that guy who was running into that Church was carrying a picture of me in his wallet and the last thing he watched was my video then I am very sorry... however, I doubt thats the case.
Nothing I've ever promoted on my videos could even come close to encouraging the harm of another person pre-born or otherwise.

I am not finger pointing at you personally LOL. Actually I think you are as cool guy in spite of the fact you are a priest. I am making a generalization about the efforts of Fr Frank and John Corapi and people like Bill OReilly.
LiberalElitistMedia 2 years ago
Don't get me wrong... a lot of those guys are in the game for the wrong reasons. Very few of them are willing to make a personal sacrifice to help another. All I really see out of a lot of the "pro-life" groups is showmen pomp. They like to walk around with caskets with aborted babies in them and argue and debate, etc... very few groups simply DO something and that is the problem. If more of these people were willing to stop judging and maybe adopt a baby the world would be different.
FatherNathan 2 years ago
Father Nathan,
have you ever heard of Stand to Reason and Greg Koukl?

EelMan4 2 years ago
EelMan4 Both the school administration and the overwhelming majority of the student body supported the invitation of the president to speak at the commencement. The students and faculty who were opposed where not denied their right to free speech. The outsiders who protested outside the schools property were allowed to do so if they conducted themselves in a lawful and orderly fashion. Those arrested were arrested for trespassing.
They had been forewarned by campus security to retreat.
AuShawster 2 years ago
Do you have statistics to back up that the majority of students wanted Mr. Obama to speak? The administration is responsible to the Catholic Church and its Laws which they did not. Their personal feeling and morals (or lack there of) are not higher then the Laws of the Church which they work for are are obligated to. Finally, this individual who was arrested is a Catholic priest and therefor should be allowed, with out fear, on any Catholic property.
FatherNathan 2 years ago
"statistics" LOL You didn't happen to watch the ceremonies did you? The group of seniors that went along with outside influences and boycotted their graduation could have held a conference in a phone booth.
As far as ND being a Catholic property, campus security were following Indiana state laws. ND a private Roman Catholic research university and not a church.
AuShawster 2 years ago
I really don't care about the president being allowed to speak or not, but an 80 year-old Catholic priest being arrested on a Catholic campus for protesting is just totally insane and outragous.
EelMan4 2 years ago
EelMan4 The arrest was filmed. Security were very pleasant with the old man and treated him with as much dignity as possible when arresting him. What I think is insane is, how the ultra right bend twist and cherry pick facts to suite there agenda.
I guess that comes from taking morals out of the bible?
Umisspelledit 2 years ago
The facts are its a Catholic university and he is a Catholic priest. As I stated before this priest should be allowed, with out fear, on any Catholic property in the world!
And yes the police and security were so pleasant that they broke his arm!
FatherNathan 2 years ago
"And yes the police and security were so pleasant that they broke his arm" I wouldn't even think of accusing a member of the clergy of lying but I did an advanced google search and found no unbiased credible sources of your claims.
"priests should be allowed, with out fear, on any Catholic property in the world!"
That is your opinion
Umisspelledit 2 years ago
Did you find anyone covering the story other then Catholics? I'd be surprised! This story has kept its way out of the media pretty well.
And no that is not my opinion. Ecclesiastical property is always owned by the Bishop (The Third Plenary Council (tit. IX, cap. ii, nn. 267-8) and therefor part of the Universal Church.
Be it a Church building or a university it is property of the Church. A Catholic priest, in good standing, does have access to such property unless denied by the Bishop.
FatherNathan 2 years ago
I'd be quite surprised, if his arm was really broken, that you lot wouldn't milk it for all its worth..
I am sure the old man is quite happy to be a martyr.
I would guess charges will likely be dropped anyway.
It was all likely done done as part of increased security measures needed in preparation for the Presidents visit.
Your protect plan failed. The president, the school, the students and RVW got through this without a scratch

It is good to see you back Father.

You shouldn't stop just because of people's mistakes. I feel the same way.

SeventhHanyou 2 years ago
