They have included this in their original beta release notes. It can incur when you add files to the WMP library and edit the tag data. It will not delete the whole file, but it will cut a few seconds from it. You seem stupid enough to just skip all the release notes and readmes, though.
People install beta fully aware of the risks. That's why any PC user with a clue will back up their stuff before installing a beta of an entire OS no less, let alone using it as their primary OS.
However I'm using Windows 7 as my primary OS, and I just chucked my music on my iPod, installed the hotfix, and put the music back on, not very difficult, and I get to enjoy a incredibly polished OS for a beta.

Windows 7 has the Vista feel because, guess what... it is Vista under the hood. However in Windows 7 they've made some key changes under the hood to improve performance like how resources and services are used. Drivers are now sandboxed, so if a driver crashes it doesn't bring the whole system down. Also Windows 7 will actually learn how to fix crashes that happen more than twice to avoid it from happening. Just a lot of things being added that are not cosmetic.

Let's say you did screw up and lost the mp3 files, you can use System Restore and go back to a previous restore point where the mp3 files were perfectly fine. Anyway, who here doesn't backup their mp3 or AAC files? I know I do.

To fix it you select all your mp3 files, right click, select properties and mark it as read only. Simple, isn't it and there's another alternate fix for it or you can just download the patch. Anyway, good try on this one Emeek, but it's a failed attempt.

Leopard is so good already, it would be insane to completely start over. Jaguar to Panther to Tiger to Leopard were all Puma 2.0, Puma 3.0, Puma 4.0 and Puma 5.0. OSX Puma was apples "OMG" OS.

I've been using the beta of Windows 7 for over 2 weeks now, and I havn't had a single problem. Hell, some problems are even going away (problems that I've had with XP, for example, the "paged-pool memory error" in Source games).
I have all of my shit backed-up on my external drive. So, it's all good.
I consider my Windows 7 beta to be better than a full-fledged OS. It works fine, no crashes, errors, only a few incompatibilities, and it's GUI is just sexy. Way nicer than the Mac's interface.

That isn't an error, buddy. It's a "feature". Quite frankly, most people can, and will, turn User-Account Control (the "cancel-or-allow" feature) off right when installing Vista or Win7.
Actually, our hard ware kept getting corrupted and we kept getting BSODs, plus our hard drive got wiped 4 times, plus viruses, plus corrupted system files. None of those things ever happened to my Macs.
BSOD is generally (99% of the time) a sign of faulty ram. Corrupted system files can be a sign of faulty ram... so guess what... you probably had faulty ram.
I would have to disagree about the whole faulty RAM, I've had more bsod problems with the motherboards, graphics card and sometimes the CPU rather than the RAM.
really? For me its the reverse. At least for motherboards I've found faulty ones to be doing stuff like random reboots and lockups (ie bad caps and stuff like that). Usually BSOD for me have been ram related - bad or just not up to spec and needing a voltage bump.
An OS has literally nothing to do with the corruption of hardware. And the only type of hardware an OS (this includes OSX) can corrupt or kill is the hardrive alone. But also explain what the variation of corrupt means?
...no fight, but just for future, if you start having a computer thats blue screening or kernel panicing a lot, RAM would probably be the first place to start looking. Basically the operating system doesnt or cant cause corruption. Thats generally hardware related. Mac or PC or Linux... it applies for all of them.

Let's say you did screw up and lost the mp3 files, you can use System Restore and go back to a previous restore point where the mp3 files were perfectly fine. Anyway, who here doesn't backup their mp3 or AAC files? I know I do.

To fix it you select all your mp3 files, right click, select properties and mark it as read only. Simple, isn't it and there's another alternate fix for it or you can just download the patch. Anyway, good try on this one Emeek, but it's a failed attempt.

I looked at the Engadget article that he was looking at and that bug would happen with edited mp3's. They have issued a fix for it. Plus there are work around's to keep the mp3's from being deleted.
It was related to a metadata bug. Bugs happen in beta, really it's the best to time to find it rather than being out in retail. Emeek, are you telling me Leopard beta didn't have any bugs in it, please tell that isn't true.

They will always complain about something. Number of mac users are way less than windows users but the majority of OS bashing vids on youtube are mac users bashing windows.
Either macs attract annoying personality types that just whine all the time or it attracts personality types that whine all the time.

But I will say I've met a few online and in person that are not bad. Gareth and Mr. Bit come across as very objective and fair.
In general though, I think Mac users go out of their way a lot more to throw insults than PC users which again is odd because the mac community has a much smaller install base.

Also, I've been using Windows 7 for 2 weeks now. Not a single crash, error, and only 2 incompatibilities (and seeing how it's Windows, we can easily find alternatives to programs that don't work). Windows isn't crash-prone unless you're an idiot who downloads MP3s on Limewire, and only a small fraction of PC users are these illiterate idiots.
We don't lose out data, we have a little thing called System Restore and Safe Mode. Works every time. Bloating isn't an issue (2 TB of storage). What now?

Vista is shit. Even SP1. A lot of the fanboys are still using XP. Leopard is better than Vista, that is for sure. What Microsoft needed was an entirely new OS, instead they decided to improve on Vista? Wow. I have the Windows 7 beta, and it is just another version of Vista that runs about as fast as XP.
Leopard is so good already, it would be insane to completely start over. Jaguar to Panther to Tiger to Leopard were all Puma 2.0, Puma 3.0, Puma 4.0 and Puma 5.0. OSX Puma was apples "OMG" OS.

I've been using the beta of Windows 7 for over 2 weeks now, and I havn't had a single problem. Hell, some problems are even going away (problems that I've had with XP, for example, the "paged-pool memory error" in Source games).
I have all of my shit backed-up on my external drive. So, it's all good.
I consider my Windows 7 beta to be better than a full-fledged OS. It works fine, no crashes, errors, only a few incompatibilities, and it's GUI is just sexy. Way nicer than the Mac's interface.

Actually, our hard ware kept getting corrupted and we kept getting BSODs, plus our hard drive got wiped 4 times, plus viruses, plus corrupted system files. None of those things ever happened to my Macs.

BSOD is generally (99% of the time) a sign of faulty ram. Corrupted system files can be a sign of faulty ram... so guess what... you probably had faulty ram.

I would have to disagree about the whole faulty RAM, I've had more bsod problems with the motherboards, graphics card and sometimes the CPU rather than the RAM.

really? For me its the reverse. At least for motherboards I've found faulty ones to be doing stuff like random reboots and lockups (ie bad caps and stuff like that). Usually BSOD for me have been ram related - bad or just not up to spec and needing a voltage bump.

...no fight, but just for future, if you start having a computer thats blue screening or kernel panicing a lot, RAM would probably be the first place to start looking. Basically the operating system doesnt or cant cause corruption. Thats generally hardware related. Mac or PC or Linux... it applies for all of them.
