  • @VonAyuma21 You need to check out the "Applied Theory for Guitar Players" video pack on guitarplayback(dot)com

It's currently on sale too and I promise that it will answer your questions on modes!

  • Santana plays Dorian and Minor Pentatonic often, the half steps in Dorian allow for the spanish style interplay

  • @GlediSound You can use any position really... Even though they share the same notes, it's the backing track that determines the color of the mode, mot the position you are playing...

You should check my "Applied theory for guitar players" bundle on guitarplayback(dot)com It explains everything! :-)

  • Hi David! Did you end up including a pdf in the older backing tracks like you did for "Minor Smooth Jazz"? if yes where do I find those notes on the site?

  • @sIash90 Hi buddy! Still in the process of updating all of them. I'll make an announcement on the Guitar Playback Newsletter when it's done. Basically all the tracks you bought will be automatically updated when it's done.

Sorry it's taking me so long!

  • @Wallimann it's alright. I can wait :D

    Good luck with Guitar Idol!!!

  • @sIash90 Thanks!

  • I'd like to know is this way of thinking is wrong:if we have an Am7 in the backing tracks we can use a Gmajor scale all over the fretboard(having the 'Dorian sound'),or Fmajor scale to have the Phrygian sound or the Cmajor scale to have the Aeolian sound and all the relative pentatonic of these scales. Is this correct?Thank you.

  • @johnnuanda

Hi I think you are absolutely right and the slight dilemma I have with this video is that at 36 seconds in we are really introduced to a B Phrygian mode from GMa. It contains all the Am7 dorian notes but if played as displayed gives a B minor tonality!(spainish sounding!). This is not a helpful short cut Walliman. It will leave people with holes in their understanding of modes. You skipped the Phrygian, Lydian and Mixolydian modes on your way to E aeolian....but I love your stuff!

  • @jazzattak You're right, but the chord change is so fast that the mood doesn't really have time to be established there. That's why I kept it under the Dorian mood. But yeah, I know what you mean! :-)

  • @Wallimann Thanks for a kind response..you are awesome , so keep posting!

  • @johnnuanda You could do that, but the thing is that this backing track is not just Am7. It has a Major 6th in it which is why it's Dorian. You could use the relative positions to help you, but you will still be in Dorian as all the notes you play are attracted to that Dorian vamp.

  • @Wallimann Oh get a life people! ;o) I would love you to create a more melodic track using that chord tonality at 0:36 and some other ideas, that could be a beautiful track there, a more melodic 'song' backing track. Maybe couple with that chord formation at 1:17. Love it.

  • What do you use to create the bass, drums and keyboards for you music? is it software or real instruments?

  • @diazluisdiaz Guitars are real most of the time. The rest is virtual. I use Addictive Drums, and Garageband for the rest.

  • na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na Wallimann ♫♫ You're awesome... this was really helpful.

  • @WencesWasHere Hehe! Thanks man, glad you enjoyed this!
