  • I truly enjoyed your presentation. It is a great thing that we continue to promote roller skating. Looking forward to seeing J S in New Jersey at Holiday this Oct.

Keep up the good work. Will visit often.

  • Video was great, brought back many good memories from 50's and 60's the best years of my life. Earl Neuman was great on the Hammond & the Mighty Wurlitzer. My partner was Carol S. Good friends Larry W, Sandy B, Fran W, Betty C, Marlene D, Steve A, Pete the B, Ken P, & Staff members Lil Davies, the Fievets, doorman with the twisted mustache, guards Carl & Sandy who kept me honest. Was at the rink every Friday, Saturday & Sunday night. 3, 5, 10, 17 & 21 never forget.

    Thanks

    Jim Kerner

  • great vedio and wonderful music.. Huge rink. Largest rink i ever skated at was Crystal Beach Ontario with my Mom--thanks for the memories, Bill R

  • @PRR5630 Thanks so much for your comments!

  • You are right about the floor at ROLLER PALACE!

  • What will bring tears to my eyes is footage of the Roller Palace in Mayfield Heights...... That rink IMO had the best roller skating surface of all rinks I've skated in.

  • I've got a APB on film/pics from RP. Bobby has actual session tapes on reels. We are going to convert them eventually!

  • Sister Jane and I learned to Skate at the Roller Palace. She is now the Director of figure skating for USArollersports in Lincoln, Ne. a former 3 time world dance Champion. Billy Mellert was one of the best, and yes the hard maple, rotunda, Cincinnati floor was superb. A little bit of floor powder at that time was all the Dr. ordered. I have friends who might just have some old archives 8mm , let me see what I can do. JPuracchio

  • Thank you so much and those that provided the footage and sound. My late wife and I skated, may I add not very well, at the Rollercade in the mid 60s. It was usually our date night. Have never seen any footage of the old place and this brought many tears to my eyes, remembering, the wonderful times we had there. Again thanks and keep the videos rolling!

  • I'm glad you had such a passionate reaction! That's why ROLLERrewind is here. I have the same feelings, tho I've combed thru this footage for hours! Thanks for the comments! Js

  • Jeez, that place looks HUGE.......

Cleveland must lead the nation in "great places that close down."

  • Yes...was at one time, the largest skating surface to be found! Thanks for your interest and comments! Js
