  • Thanks so much. I have a bad eyes for pattern. I look at a pattern and loved it but then i'm like "what pattern is this?" lol

I seen this scarf in one of my favorite music video and i always wanted to make it but i just didnt know what pattern it is but now i found it. 😁

  • Okay, so u knit the ones that look like knits and u purl the ones that look like purls, so ur really knitting the purls and purling the knits??HELP!!!

  • Thank you soooo much! Such a fun pattern :)

  • ooooooohhhh. thank you so much for this video! this helped SO much!

  • ~Whew~ I thought I'd never get this knit2 purl 2, thanks so much for showing the difference between the two, you are the first tutorial I have found so far that helped me to understand.

  • i seriously think i need an actual teacher for this...........

  • Thanks this was helpful along my new journey.

  • Hi, can I you make a video about how to decrease a rib stitch? coz I on my way to finish making my hat with fully rib stitches... is it possible? and how can i decrease it? thanks a lot...XD

  • Hi....I'm trying to work a project that says to first k1 p1 for so many cm then k2 p2 increasing EVERY stitch for an entire round and then on the next round k2 p2 again increasing EVERY stitch. Well, I'm not sure I am doing this correct for it to all look aligned with the ribbing. The pattern is called a baggy bolero on the Pickles site and I really would like to give it a go...Would be so appreciative to see a video on this. Can you help? Thanks so much. Patty

  • I love this so much because you explain everything simply and effectively, and the video angle makes it very easy to see what you're doing. Also, in some of the other tutorials, the person talking sounds like they think I'm retarded.

  • Your Video Helped me teach myself to make this scarf, and I was doing it all wrong, not respecting that you have to invert the stitch pattern when alternating rows. knit 2 purl 2 on one side, then begin purl 2 knit 2, and repeat :) My scarf <3

  • the ONLY vid that made me realize i had to move the yarn to the front to purl and in the back to knit!!!! i am so elated now it actually looks like something lol

  • what size are your wooden knitting needles? I'm a beginner and really learned something here. Thank you.

  • I am making a ribbed stick scarf and I am having a hard time on the first row. for K2, P2.

  • Thanks teacher , I confuse with the first row, why one side show nit but other side show perl.

  • i really don't understand this video because its not a mitten

  • you are an amazing teacher! I have been stuck on how to purl and do ribbing for SO long and even had many friends try to show me. I FINALLY get it. Thank you. :)

  • I am knitting a scarf that is K2 P2 (repeat), and I'm really struggling with the first row (after casting on). I seem to end up with more stitches somehow (I'm supposed to have only 24). What am I doing incorrectly?

  • Uh, I thought the side that looks bumped-like is the KNIT side... and the side that is smooth-v-like is the PURL side. And I knit and purl on the same side, I just knit 1 row, purl the next, knit 1 row and purl the next. And my work looks just yours. I'm a little confused. ??

  • Thank you for this video!

Is this just a double version of the brioche rib knitting? Also I wanted to ask, would this knitting method make a scarf curl? I've had a terrible time knitting a scarf in stockinette stitch and finding out halfway through that stockinette stitches curl. I just want to make sure. Thank you!

  • OMG!!! I finally get it lol! Now I feel like an idiot. Thanks for your help.

  • Hi! I have been using this technique with my latest scarf, but something is not right b/c all of the videos that I have watched using the rib technique have this nice accordion action going on... mine is just flat. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Someone please help =\

  • @summergirl26 you are not knitting the knits and purling the purls. This is very easy...if you K2 P2 on side one, when you turn your knitting you will P2 K2...you knit your knits and purl your purls.

  • @Gingerly4it WHAT?!?! *sigh* this is super complicated for me :(

  • how many cast on's did you use?

  • @megnras12 I dont remember, but to do ribbing it needs to be an even number of stitches you cast on.

  • @megnras12 As long as it's an even # if you are doing 2x2, it doesn't matter. Be prepared for it to shrink in width, so cast on more to keep the desired width.

  • thanks for that video - you explained and demoed it really well, and slow enough for me to see exactly what you were doing.

  • Are purl stitches supposed to be looser than knit stitches in ribbing?

  • @patricia67252 no they are not. It's your tension you need to work on.

  • I just had the biggest OOOOOOOOOH moment.

    Thanks!!

  • @herutura SWEEEET!!!

  • Can someone please help me? I'm doing a standard knit two, purl two, in circular knitting needles. I get to the second row and instead of seeing nice normal stitches instead are two normal stitches, and two backward stitches on my knitting needles - and so on and so forth. It's very hard to knit a backward stitch - two pieces of thread, especially considering how thick my thread is. How am I going wrong?

  • Thank YOU SOOOOO much!!! I have been knitting for only a few weeks and I kept trying to understand my book on how to do 2x2 ribbing. I attempted it several...okay lets just say lots of times..all to utter failure and much dischord. I looked for others online and they moved so fast and used such little needles I couldn't see what was 'actually' happening. This video was amazingly simple and easy to follow. Thank you!!!!

  • Thank you so much!! I've been trying to figure out to knit rib stitch for the past week, but your video helped me finally! You can imagine the mess I was making without this tutorial!!

  • Why is it that when i try to do the rib stitch, it still looks like the garter stitch? I don't know if its me doing the purl stich right or wrong. I'm just really confused.

  • hi Gingerly4it! thanks to your video i was able to sucessfully teach myself how to "rib stitch". I have 2 questions.........first,casting off in rib stitch is the same as regular casiting off....right? I learned this rib stitch to make wrist warmers, so my second question is how to knit close the wrist warmers? Any help would be great........video showing me how would be even better!!!! Thanks!

  • Hi,

I have a question.. can u please suggest number of stitches to be taken in order to make a male scarf?

I am making one for my husband and i want to know what should be the ideal length of the scarf, how many ribs to rake before you start 2 rib 2 purl.. and when to start rib again to start casting off.

Appreciate you assistance. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks in advance.

    K

  • Very helpful. Thanks for the videos. I found my problem was a simple error. I was not moving the yard in front to purl and in back to knit. If you forget this, it won't work! These videos are a life-saver.

  • same here!!! :)

  • Great Video, Thank you I've learned a lot. I was wondering if there is a way to keep the sides from rolling up when knitting a scarf with a stockinette stitch. I was thinking of sewing the sides with yarn, but not sure if thats a good idea..lol Well, thanks again for the great video.

  • you said that the knit stitch is the inverted V side and the plur stitch is the bumpy side. I was taught that the bumpy side was created by doing knit stitch. I'm just a little confused. Is plur the same thing as a stockinette stitch and knit stitch is the same as garter stitch? thanks for the video. :]]

  • I'm a bit confused. So when I get to the end of one side I end it with a knit stitch. When I switch over to the other side, do I start with a knit stitch or a purl stitch? Or do I start again with a knit stitch?

  • You need to understand what a knit stich and a purl stitch look like. When you turn your work you knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches.

  • @VALERWHEEEXD If you are doing ribbing and you have ended one side with a knit stitch, when you turn to the other side you will start with a pearl stitch.

Every stitch is the opposite of what it was on the other side. Hope this is clearer.

  • I have a question - is there a different way to cast off if you knit in the rib stitch? I'm trying to make a pair of fingerless gloves and I have four rows of rib stitch before I cast off, but then the opening isn't stretchy enough for their fingers like the bottom is. Any help? I'm not even sure if that's clear enough...

  • Cast off in rib stitch.

  • Thanks for posting up this video!!!

Would like to know what size needles were you using in this video?

    Thanks again :)

  • @angedejuillet I think they were size 10 needles if I remember right.

  • thank you sooo much this was really helpful!! :D

im new at knitting and i truly love it! whats the difference between a jersey knit and a stock-knit stitch? would you be able to do a demo on tuck stitch?

    thanks again, great work! :D

  • Thank you so much for this video! I've been having a lot of trouble with this, but you explained it perfectly and I'm just glad my ribbing actually looks like ribbing now! Thank you again!!

  • When you are doing ribbing and you knit a stitch when you turn your work that knit will look like a purl so you will purl that stitch.

  • Hi!

I was wondering, can i just work with ONE side only so its less confusion? Since On the right side, you knit the knits and purl the purls.....rite?

Thanks =) great video ~ you made it very clear for me!

  • No, you can not only do this on one side because your ribbing will not come out correctly. You have to knit the knits and purl the purls on BOTH sides not just the right side.

  • Great video! What type of yarn are you using? It seems wool has been the easiest for me, but I'm a beginner so any suggesstions would be great. Thanks!!

  • I think it was Vanna's Choice Yarn I bought at Joann's but I dont remember. I like using that yarn because it's not too pricey and its nice on the fingers. Dont get caught up in the expensive yarns especially since you are still learning, TRUST me on his one! ;0)

  • thank you for your great instructions. I'm making a scarf by knitting two and purling two but I've made a mistake. I unraveled a few inches but I can get it correct again.. HELP...I've worked so hard and now it's messed up. I must be putting the loops on backwards sometimes. Could you show us how to correct a mistake. Thank you!

  • Thank you! You make it look possible! :) Would love to know the yarn you're using? It's so pretty and I would like to use it to make my first knit scarf.

  • I'm glad you like the yarn, but I cant remember what it was. I think it was Vanna's Choice Yarn that I bought at Joann's

  • Thank you for this.

  • np, glad I could help you out.

  • That is a very pretty looking scarf - I'm going to give it a try. Thank you so much for your video! Nice job.

  • I'm so glad I could help you out.

  • i've been tring to find out how to change colors while knitting the 2x2rib stitch. but no body seems to have an answer. cou you make a video on how to do that?

  • Yes, I will make one showing you how to change colors and how to weave in the ends of your yarn instead of making knots to finish your project. :0)

  • WOW! This was exactly what I was having a problem with!! I was on a knittig FAQ and I never got the same answer, this makes it SO much clearer!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!

  • This is one of the best vids on how to do this, thank you for posting it!! I'm knitting a bulky baby blanket using this stitch...your video made all the difference for me!

  • I always have a very difficult time starting a purl row, if I do a couple of knit stitches then a purl it's no problem! Could you please explain how to do this?

    Thanks!

  • Thanks so much for this video. Ribbing was always really confusing to me but you really cleared it up for me! Please post more videos!

  • Thanks for posting this -- I wasn't sure how to go back and forth between knits and purls, but this shows really clearly how you bring the yarn to the front for the purl and then return to the back for the knit. Yay!
