Dustin and Ally, I love your style! I've only been learning blues dance for a bit over a year, and you both inspire me. I have to ask you this. And you don't have to answer. But are you two an item? And if so, how has that affected the way you dance together? Because you guys really click. I can feel it just watching you. But if you're not together, what's your secret to looking great and having me fooled? Also, I really love your videos and try to incorporate what you do. Write back!
Ha, nope we're just dance partners. I guess the secret is to have a dance partner that isn't your significant other. That way you can maintain "eternal" dance chemistry separate from the natural ebb and flow of romantic relationships.
I think blues dancers are at their best when their taking risks and trying things out. Great balance and connection at 2:20 ish. Lots of great stuff here -- kudos.
Do you guys have DVD's for sale? I'm in Fairbanks, Alaska and there is nowhere to learn this dance within 1000 miles or better but I would love to at least get started so when I'm on the west coast at a dance I'm not completely lost. .

Dustin & Ally, I hope you are still checking the feedback for this. Here in the UK I have been watching the creativity of yourselves and Mihai for a little while now, but just stumbled on this dance. Beautiful - absolutely beautiful. I 'm trying to get together with a few creative Salsa & Bachata friends to experiment a little - Here is a whole bundle of fabulous inspiration! Thank-you so very much and best wishes to you both.
@strungoutonsix This is Pussycat Moan, by Katie Webster, as performed on the album Two-Fisted Mama! (1990). It is based on Charlie Brown's Trouble Blues. (took me some research, that...)
My parents and grandparents dance like this! They're from the South, and they're going to get a kick out of this being some kind of dance style. A lot of people dance like this in Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia...I've never heard it called blues dancing...it's just the music and how you feel that guides the movement, at least that's what my parent's always said. My sisters and I grew up slow dancing like this with my parents around the house.
There were 2 moves I really like. The 1st was at 2:19. The 2nd was at 3:10. I love the spin across the body and into a slow dip. not a huge fan of the rolling on the floor, but I still loved the dance.
Absolutely amazing what you can convey without any words! I love blues dancing; I'm anxious to get to Portland sometime and learn a different style of blues.
Mesmerizing! I'm new to the blues dancing scene. I've been dancing East Coast Swing/Lindy for the past year and a half, but this has so much more feeling. Can't wait to go out dancing again. :) Amazing to watch!
Thank you very much! I agree that there's much more room for self expression in blues than other partner dances. You should visit portland sometime and attend the weekly blues venue on Tuesdays! Portland is known for having a more alternative blues style.
Wow! this was an amazing video to watch. I'm just learning to dance the blues now. Thanks so much for sharing your video. Loved, loved loved it. :-)
