Him dying off the island in the state that he did was a tragedy - like the rest of his life. I didn't mind it at all.

I totally called this. I think it was because of the way Locke looked at his feet when he landed on the island, but I never questioned that he was handicapped. So when it didn't show him walking or his legs in this entire episode, I realized that it was supposed to be a surprise. Didn't take too much away from the moment, though, since Terry O'Quinn did such a good job.

And then it aired. I've watched every episode the first time it aired ever since. It's hard to believe Lost is over.

Who knew seeing a man stand could be so powerful. This is the best scene of the first season, and I'm so satisfied that Locke got a happy ending. His farewell to Ben in the finale chokes me up.

Nothing else on television even comes close - this is easily cinema standard, easily. Actually, it's better put together than a whole host of films - the soundtrack, the direction, the cinematography, the writing...just a brilliant show.

You have to well up at this scene...Locke is such a brilliant character who, for all his many pains and dissapointments, experiences this moment of true happiness amongst the wreckage and despair...the Island has given him life again. Amazing. I love Lost!

This is an episode you really need to see twice. The first time, you're completely blindsided by the twist, because you never would have thought that Locke would be paralyzed off the Island. The second time you see it, you can see how they carefully set up the twist throughout the whole episode - such as Locke always being shown sitting down, and the constant references to his "condition."

I watch this scene again after so many years, and it still gets to me. The revelation of Locke's paralysis, coupled with his frustrations and the music - it's just powerful stuff when you see him walk again on the island.

Very powerful episode, probably the most moving moment i've seen on a television show in a while....... I love how everything plays out in this show, different aspects of the crash that make you go "Crap, how did I not notice that?!?" I remember watching maybe two episodes of Lost when it first came out on T.V. and I never really got into it until they released the first season on Hulu a few days ago.

this episode is still one of my favourites. as i remember the pilot and tabula rasa are brilliant episodes that blow you away with some of the scenes, but this was the one for me that dragged me in and got me totally hooked on the show.
