Thanks, Ireland1, for keeping the debate civilised and helpful. If not for the preamble about Ireland entering the space race and the unnecessary synthesised string orchestra backing, I'd like Patsy's version (I'm referring to the video kindly shared by skibberreen18).

I have to confess that as a former professional balladeer I like things simple and earthy rather than sugar-coated and over-sentimental.

@oxfordeddie balex let's get rid of this myth that luke kelly is the greatest ballad singer ever jim mc cann is a great singer i don't deny luke was good but if you know anything about talent you'll understand this man's voice is magical just listen to his version of the foggy dew as a professional muscian and an irishman it makes my blood boil when people underate this man as singer in his own right.
