MIke Kinsella is an amazing musician.. i love his music, his lyrics... AF is such an amazing band... my personal favorite above all other Kinsella's projects, its a shame it ended so early...
Little known fact about the song "Five Silent Miles" -- the title is in refernce to 1) the time signature (5/4) and the hi-hat riff that is a references to Miles Davis "In A Silent Way".
Just because they are simple, doesn't mean they are weak.. He gets his point across in suttle ways, so suttle a idiot like yourself couldn't even pick up one i.... Intriquet gutiar work, simple lyrics.. perfect combo..
i love this band. notice that alot of their songs has the word 'everything' in it, and its like in the end of the sentence/stanza... do you know any bands that sounds like or influenced by a.f.
Five Silent Miles was the only song I heard from these guys for a few years. One day it popped into my head and I tried to find some more music from American Football. I remember I put the album on for the first time while I was playing with some K'nex and being so mesmerized by the lengthy outro of 'Honestly' that I just had to lay on the carpet and exclusively listen. Now I seldom go a week without playing something related to Mike Kinsella on my weekly college radio program. This is great.
I can't believe, a nice touch to my heart =)

Wow, Mike tells the crowd to "shut the fuck up!" Oh, he has clearly calmed with age.

When Steve counts off, he sounds exactly like he did on the first few seconds of Never Meant.

I love Five Silent Miles and all of the songs these guys have done.
That's awesome that you spin this on a college radio show. Cheers!

I actually heard the intro to never meant on npr, as one of those clips they use to segue between things.

Hey shut the fuck up! Haha. That's so unlike Mike to do nowadays. He's way more funny about it and passive agressive.
