BTW, please forgive my defensive opening presentation, I certainly didn't mean to be rude or disrespectful, it is just that I consider myself as being neither a crackpot , nor whatever other terms you used, and although I am fueled by an hope and desire to believe or even see other life outside of our own that could be blamed for any hallucination, I assure you and anyone else, it most certainly was not, when I, and a friend, saw what we did in the sky one night. And I will still enjoy listening
With a telescope we can see great distances through space and time. We can bring our surroundings no matter how far away in time and/or space to a focal point somewhere amongst that grey stuff between our ears, that with the right attitude and imagination, is better than any space flight possible, without the danger and expense and by observing the electromagnetic waves that have travelled so many miles and years already to reach us, without waiting for a reply back from anyone sent to find out.
Someone takes a vacation to , say, Europe, and travels from country to country without leaving the confines of a train to eat the surroundings or drown in the landscape, yet arriving home they have fond memories of seeing wonderful things. Was it anydifferent than loking at it on TV? Yes, They were there right? With the eye they beheld and enjoyed a foreign place. So why do we need a spaceship to see whats on the other side of the galaxy when a telescope will do the same?Seeing is believing.
Nothing springs from nothing. If it did there would be evidence of it happening or still doing so. Life never began anytime. Just like time and space, life always has been and will always be. Like mould thriving and destroying a ripe orange, we as living organisms will gain a foothold somewhere and continue on as we have before , many many times before in this infinite everchanging recyclic universe. From dust to life to dust and back, around we go as life time and space coincide then dissipate.
It must be lonely being a narrow minded prisoner of your own mind, with everything you believe, restrained by numbers, figures, probability, preconcieved disbelief of something you know nothing of the existence of, i.e. alien presence nearby or closer, and before hearing your judgemental wisecrack insinuating my being a crank or weirdo, I too, thought you were someone worth listening to Mr Hawking. You are missing a big part of the key to understanding what it is you quest. Faith in the unknown.
@victor714ps3 I wrote the last entry first and the first one last. The rest is loosely arranged random thoughts that are very brief due to the restrained parameters here. 500 letters at a time is barely enough to get started on something. Then ther is no control over their arrangement. Can be confusing to read I know but hey, better than just keeping it to myself. My main point was that there is more to space than facts and numbers etc and cracking it will require a kinda leap of faith .
@victor714ps3 That is great. It is refreshing to find there are people, similar or otherwise, in appearance, and sharing similar thoughts or not, that we pass by each day in daily life, then along comes the internet, a place where we connect intellectually, a magnificent tool indeed. If we could convince all of the possible benefits of this tool if used correctly and not for lies and trickery, as some cannot seem to help doing, a whole new world will open to us.Right here at our fingertips.
Well I laughed at both his jokes, they didn't though did they? Bless him...he did a little smile but then looked disheartened when no one laughed.. ;( Poor Steve......
@Carl0sFandang1976 You can hear someone laugh right when he said it and he looked at the crowd. I'd imagine everyone was probably smiling but if they busted up laughing they might miss something that he says. I wouldn't want to miss a single thing he said if I was ever to meet him.
What if Stephen Hawking isn't really smart but he has an awesome autocorrect o.o
