  • Hope I'll have the chance to see this on the big screen someday.

  • This was together with Morran(called "The Groke" in the english dub) that what desturb my childhood...

  • What's scarier than this? Nothing. omg.

  • 1:15 BITCHSLAP!!

  • I have the biggest urge to go read Moby-Dick... But unlike Pinocchio vs Monstro, we all know that Moby-Dick wins :(

  • What happened to the kitty! =O! *cries*

  • Pretty sure whales can't sneeze

  • @sdrawkcab190 What did you just see????

  • I still have a phobia of whales, and now I know why. I remember being scared as hell when I watched this when I was little. Also, as a side note, the whale's head and mouth expressions remind me of the Xenomorph from the movie "Alien". Maybe Giger was inspired by sperm whale heads? Along with the very phallic look, of course!

  • i love how he says now he is mad....mad my left foot...he is fucking pissed!!!!!!

  • The most badass whale ever

  • what would happen if... MOBY DICK VS. MONSTRO that could be a good movie

  • I actualy jumped when Monstro opened his eye at the fish

  • Comment removed

  • cool...now, who wanna go with me at the sea? =D

  • My heart was beating soo fast

  • Ohh noo!! Kill free Willy!!!!

  • Holy crap... My whole adult life I've been a nervous wreck in deep water. When I can't see the bottom, I just imagine an enormous mouth looming out of the darkness to swallow me. Giant things in the water genuinely terrify me. And my wife asked me the other day what could possibly make me have such an irrational fear.

It was this scene. Without a doubt, a DISNEY MOVIE has scarred my mind forever. And from the comments I see I'm not alone. This is the reason I can never go diving or snorkeling.

  • @trontium5 I am the same... I had nightmares just after seeing this as a child, and then a phobia of whales for years after.

  • I love that scene at the end where Gepetto washes up on the beach. Really great animation.

  • 5.04 !!!!!!

  • ew...scary

  • i loved that cat.

  • What I don't understand is after Monstro destroyed their boat with his tail, why in the world did he go sooooooooooooo far away from them while under water then tried to charge them from such alooooooong distance on the surface of the water when he could have just came up under them after he destroyed their boat and ate them and ended it.

You don't think about this stuff when you are a kid. XD

  • this used to scare the hell outta me

  • i always wondered as a kid if the whale die and i still am

  • For some reason I was never scared of Monstro, even as a child, but characters like Malificent absolutely petrified me lol.

  • Why does the whale sound like Satan?

  • Gotta love that delicious accent from Argentina =)

  • this scene scarred my childhood...but i gotta hand it to the whale....he made one hell of a U-Turn at 3:39.... xD pretty impressive for a giant ass whale..lmao.

  • Whale fucking scared the shit out of me

  • its amazing of how when your a child disney movies are interesting but when you grow up they're scary as fucccccck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I was a child, I peed my pants upon seeing Monstro's... monstrosity. And now, as an adult, I still do. Except now comes the added connotation of...

"SWEET MOTHER OF HOLY-!" Eh, but you get the idea. Pinocchio was probably my favorite movie as a child. And it still is.

  • shit, why does it eat everything?

  • @QueenBonesofdarkness

Well could be that Monstro represents the growing consumption of our society's need to constantly obtain everything and everyone around us, that we will eventually destroy all folk as well as ourselves....(feel free to roll your eyes cuz all of that was BS)

Or maybe Disney just wanted to make kids be terrified of Whales FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES.

    You decide.

  • @Stryder687 Disney has come up with some crazy shit over the years. Like Maleficent the Dragon, the Queen from snow white as an old witch. Even though half of it is actually aimed at KIDS!! But what do you mean by 'the growing consumption of our society's need to constantly obtain everything and everyone around us, that we will eventually destroy all folk as well as ourselves'. I dont think disney was trying to scare kids about whales because they are beautiful creatures

  • @QueenBonesofdarkness Oh I was totally kidding about Monstro representing something, I was just having fun with pretending that he symbolized something. When really, he's simply a character or obstacle for our hero. And A SERIOUSLY FREAKY ONE!

because in general whales are freakin' awesome! Except the following

    Monstro

    Moby Dick

    And Free Willy...actually he's ok.

  • After this, I'm afraid to go whale watcing. I always think that the whale would accidently turn over the boat.

  • For those who are scared, he unfortunately comes back to fight three people in armor with keys.

  • @TwoFacedKid4

Honestly? I'd prefer being smacked in the face with Keyblades by Old men, Hooded guys, and Nobody/Heartless emo freaks, rather than feeling the horrible wrath of a Whale's Belly pummelling me FLAT on a tiny speck of land, and then getting SWALLOWED. I mean, Holy SHIT.

  • monstro scared me when i was little. i would hide during the ride at dinseyland when that part came

  • are they fuckin serious? a whale that big? and it eats ppl? wtf is going on?

  • so im not the only one with whale phobia eh? go dry land and the sky!

  • Damn, i gotta learn how to swim.

  • this changed my life. This gave me a huge phobia of swimming in lakes/seas when I can't see whats underneath me :S

  • @Shikazhi You too?! This part of the movie and the donkey transformation one is simply too creepy.

I haven't gone to the beach in almost a decade since I first was allowed to stay at home during summer holidays (my parents always go to the beach) - and I'm 19, btw.

  • One day when I have kids I will have this classic on the shelves for them to watch. We live in Maine and the worst thing I could do to my kids is make them watch this movie and then say "Hey, let's go on a whale watch." haha

  • Monstro must be some sort of compulsive eater to go after a boy made of wood.

  • :| that whale has serious issues.

  • you know damn well, NOTHING should have been that freakin' big and swift in the waters. I was so scared to swim as a child and this was why

    XD

  • i think this is the movie that made me boycott swimming lessons

  • I finally know why the whale is called Monstro...

  • I am almost 18 now, and the noises that damn whale makes still terrifies me.

  • That cat is so fucking cute, but this is a hell of a scary scene for a childrens film.

  • this god damn film gave me a fear of whales and the sea in general.

  • nice comments peeps couldnt agree more.stuff nightmares are made of.not meaning to diss disney but this is terrifying!!!!

  • Scary, but after the donkey scene, your child's already been emotionally scarred for life, so what's the harm in letting him or her watch it?

This movie raped my childhood. I am dead inside

  • @UniversalHeat

I agree with you completely. When I was a little kid, the donkey scene scared the crap out of me. But the scariest scene in any Disney movie, for me will be the Evil Queen's Transformation from Snow White.

  • @DisneyClassicsFan no the movie that raped my childhood was stephen king's IT. this movie was awesome compared to that horror flick.

  • @DeathGodRiku

That was horrific as well. The movie that raped my childhood was Jaws. I was so scared of that shark :)

  • @DisneyClassicsFan jaws...only saw the 3d one and that made me lol.

  • @DisneyClassicsFan

I agree on all those counts (It though in Hindsight is kinda hilarious)

However, can anyone tell me...What the blazes is wrong with this whale?!! Seriously!!! It's out for blood!!!

  • @DisneyClassicsFan there are two disney scenes that terrified me. one was the rat scene in lady & the tramp. but the absolute scariest scene in disney history in maleficent in the fireplace (sleeping beauty). :,( caused so many sleepless nights

  • @DeathGodRiku IT scared the crap outta me! but now I LOVE IT. tim curry is great as it

  • @TaffyRaphie TIM CURRY WAS THE CLOWN! OMG!

  • @DeathGodRiku IT holy shit i now shiver just hearing IT that was so scary i was shitting myself while watchin that movie i felt sorry for the kids still that really fuked my childhood up :(

  • @RECKOGNING1 actually if you go back and watch it I bet it won't be NEARLY as scary as it was when you were a kid.

  • @DeathGodRiku true

  • @DisneyClassicsFan yes... i agree... friggin bony hands

  • @DisneyClassicsFan Well in 30s Snow White wasn't a film for children, it was rated mature in England when it was first released after few weeks premiere in US

  • @DisneyClassicsFan Now, go and see AKIRA XD

  • @DisneyClassicsFan

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGREEEEEEEEEEEED.

    She is my childhood fear!!!!

  • @DisneyClassicsFan or in the rescuers when Penny is in the well getting the diamond!

  • @DisneyClassicsFan I didn't think this was scary but I always felt The Lion King was pretty dark, evil and twisted when I was a kid. When Scar killed Mufasa it taught me that jealousy can cause even someone like my own brother to turn on me like Scar did to Mufasa.

  • @UniversalHeat How about the wolf from "Make Mine Music"?

  • Comment removed

  • Even though I was a scientific child, and knew the greatest danger of being nommed on by a whale would be untangling your hair from the filter - I was still horrified.

  • Monstro is the reason im scared of the ocean..... DX

  • @AProudArmyGirlfriend And Im 18!!!

  • Where is Chuck Norris when we REALLY need him?

  • @ 3:03 OMG!! lol that whale is PISSED!!!!!

  • Need wind energy? a sneezing whale will be the solution xD

  • Who wants to go on a whale watch? haha :)

  • Why does this whale go freaking berserk for like nine tuna fish, a scawny old man and like his puppet?

  • cuz he's monstro lol :D

  • Monstro must be Moby Dick's psychotic cousin.

  • heh... I always feared Monstro. One of the few disney "villains" (though thats not true, it's just an animal) to actually strike fear into me. But now looking back on it.. it wasn't monstro that scared me. It was his eyes.. anyone who can draw eyes like that honestly has psychological issues O_o;

But now that I look at this again, I have to laugh a bit. Look at how monstro is just "floating" on the water. It's just funny :).

  • Jonah 1:17

  • Monstro = the "Jason Voorhees" of whales

  • Monstro = the "Jason Voorhees" of whales

  • Monstro = the "Jason Voorhees" of whales

  • i miss this kind of children movies! todays stuff cant reach this!

  • Just looking at Monstro sends chills down my spine, and I'm 18!

  • @knowledgeable13 the one whale where you can let the japanese hav him.....even green peace would understand

  • Same here and I'm 18 too. He's so scary he makes Jaws look like a goldfish! Not too mention Stromboli or that whole Pleasure Island donkey sequence. Still I used to watch the movie all the time and sometimes it was just for this one scene alone. This was back when Disney was kid friendly yet mature enough make more intense scenes.

  • I totally agree with you, I looove this movies.

  • @knowledgeable13 well if it makes u feel any better im 22 and think hes scary lol. and the donkey scene is soo creppy 0_0.

  • is there an english version of this?

  • @Clarkofkrypton

    Yes, of course :)

If you want, I'll upload it:)

  • yeah, that'd be great

  • @DisneyClassicsFan that'd be great, much appreciated

  • @DisneyClassicsFan

please im going to the funfair at skegness

today and i dont want to miss it

  • Aaaaand now I'm scared. Fuck this movie and his phobia-inducing giant whale ;___;
