It's really a tenth amendment thing. Ron Paul is of the opinion that the constitution doesn't give the federal government any authority over states in matters of education.

Do you think schools and education would disappear along with the Department of Education? Open your mind and consider what it would be like without the ED. it's not that hard. Look at the numbers pre and post 1980. And if you were in school in the 70's and have kids that went to school in the 90s just look at the difference. It has gotten worse and it has been a waste of money. Not to mention the question: Do you want the Fed. Govt. deciding what to teach your kids?
