  • This song carries me away to somewhere wonderful

  • @muyExxcellentte I thought it was about smoking weed. Maybe that's just me, substituting one for the other. :/

  • I wish they had done an unplugged concert before splitting. This song and a few others would sound great played on acoustic

  • @civiru they did..look for them on torents

  • how can a song be so....perfect?

  • It's a metaphor for sex.

  • One of those moments God wished he was Billy.....

  • Sometimes songs beg you to ask what is and what isn't, they ask you to look for your true self, and to quote another song off this album "you may find your love is gone, or not quite what it seems". In this same way you may find that who you were is gone, or perhaps just not who you thought you were.. maybe it's just me though

  • My body feels old now but that is still the best music in the fucking world!

  • WTF was Billy doing at the end there to make it sound like a wammy bar dive but it wasnt?!

  • @mrlee192

Pressing down the string behind the nut..

  • I love you pumpkins! My favorite band and one of my favorite songs. Thank you Billy, D'arcy, James, and Jimmy! You have saved my life.

  • yup, this is what i loved those days. And now... Where the F#@$ did Billy's talent moved to? A miss...

  • From 7:30 on is Pure Perfection.

  • @zenarrrow from 0:00 on is pure perfection!

  • @SuperCaptainG Well said. I just saw them in Denver on 10-10-11. Great show, 2nd row center stage YEAH !!!!

  • @zenarrrow oh indeed

  • I pressed the "like" button after having only listened to the intro.....

  • love

  • Dumbass crowd thinks the song is over halfway through.

  • I like the simultaneous guitar solos of Billy and James. Two distinct styles that mesh together.

  • james looks like a self-contained techno-chink. not a slam, just honesty.

  • fooking Epic....I saw this tour and it was unforgettable....Always and forever a Pumpkins fan!

  • Always loved the nuances of the Pumpkins live performances...they weren't content to be jukeboxes and play songs exactly like their records live....many of their performances are raw and on the edge of their sleeves.

  • Its hard to say I have heard that Billy is a dick but I think at a certain point the other members got tired of touring I think I would after awhile.........

  • RIP Jimmy Chamberlin

  • @MrWishuwould You do know that Jimmy isn't dead, right?

  • sonic excellence. this one and jellybelly!

  • sonic excellence. jellybelly also too!

  • oh man, absolute favorite fucking song off of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

  • Remember the Good Times .Dont forget the Badddddddddd and againandagain.......

  • Too bad all the good bands have egos completely destroy what possibly be ultimately some the greatest music bands will never play. SP, Pink Floyd. to name a few. Absolutely amazing by the way.

  • but in lyrics hes always bagging god if u say hes a devout christian so be it i juz like his music

  • This song made me fall in love with lengthy fade-ins.

  • this guy is cool even though hes a athiest

  • @ia17666 Corgan is actually a pretty devout Christian.

  • this guy is cool even though hes a athiest

  • Rockpalast! Great gig

  • IN MY MIND IM EVERYONE!!!!

  • billy is the fucking king of feedback!

  • @82907 You're so right. No one does it better.

  • James Iha an amazing guitarist

  • Nirvana started the movement. The Pumpkins with Mellon Collie took it to a heights no one had thought possible.

  • my fav pumpkins live performance ever

  • Yeah, it's okay I guess.

  • In my mind im everyone at 6.13- fuckin brilliant

  • sp forever

  • and in my mind I'm everyone ... everyone of you

    Corgan= Rock n Roll God!

  • Best Smashing Pumpkins line-up ever!!

  • @Saritah1508 Plz let us not hear the BullShit. There's no other line up.

    THESE ARE THE SMASHING PUMPKINS.

    Other shit are Billy's ego-fails.

  • @glaukus666 : Despite you don't like it, SP is still around, face it.

And the new ones are not that bad, don''t be so close-minded.

BTW you need to work on that aggressiveness

  • @Saritah1508 Internet communication is known for misconveying feelings. I wasn't at all aggressive, perhaps a ;) at the end of the sentence would help. As far as the new SP or the several attempts in between with other names, they are simply not good enough. I return to you, the open-mindedness suggestion. Cause if you 're comparing the SP with all the rest of Corgan's stuff you're a real fanboy/girl. 90% of peeps are dl'ing new SP stuff simply out of nostalgia. It's actually HARD to listen to.

  • @glaukus666 Don't be silly, lonely is the name is amazing

  • @glaukus666 I actially dont mind the new stuff, true I think most of them arnt great but a stitch in time and freak would be up among some of my favourite pumpkins songs. True, I dont think they will ever produce anything as amazing as siamese dream or mellon collie but you have to judge the music on its own merits, not just compare it to them in their hayday. I think it is a step in right direction myself

  • @Saritah1508 You mean Billy Corgan and friends, they should tour with Axl Rose and friends :-)

  • tomorrow im gonna see em here in Buenos aires, they perform at Luna park stadium!! I still cant believe it!!!

  • Best band ever

  • this song is beautiful...!!xx

  • sucks that they're a 90's band :/

  • seriously amazing composition in this song

  • Stand out song from a group chasing nothing but MUSIC. MUSIC people in a slip stream

  • this has to be one of the best songs iv ever heard

  • @wheredoyougetoff1 i love them there is no other band like them...my favorite always and forever....

  • 8:34-8:46.

  • che ricordi...

  • rock on, billy

can't wait to see you in Houston........

  • Saw them play this live in '96 (with Filter joining them onstage).Best live performance EVER!!!

  • who likes this song AND Kingdom Hearts? Well if you like em both, check out my channel! I just made the FIRST EVER KINGDOM HEARTS AMV FOR THIS SONG!!!!! Its got great timing and lots of awesome clips. So come on and head over to my channel and check it out! And while you're there, go ahead and subscribe!!!!

  • i love how all their songs are from every genre of music!

  • Now here's an interesting question: Billy's tone here is probably because of his electronics more than because of the Strat itself, possibly? I'm wondering if you could achieve this same tone on a Tele with the same electronics

  • My favourite Pumpkins song.

  • Yes, they are the most talented musicians I have ever heard, and I have heard LOT

  • Been listening to Mellon Collie again lately after about 10 years. Its a fucking sick album, should be in the top 100 ever recorded. Underrated.

  • @muddwell Word.

  • Never saw a great, great musician and poet???? Now here's your chance and be Billy's guest.............

  • so much sustain. i love it.

  • BILLY IS A FUCKING GENIUS!!

the best poet in the universe

  • I wish I had seen this live! Great song!

  • This song is so good!!! It make my mind fly away form everything and take it to a jurney of joy :D

  • Fuuuuuck... they will always be my favorite band. Perfect example right here.

  • You can hear all the sounds of the ocean. Deep calm water. Waves crashing on the shore. Whirlpools and whales and whispering seashells. Violent storms and beautiful untouched mermaids. It's all there.

    Billy's masterpiece.

  • D'arcy is so hot in this video! The Smashing pumpkins are hands down the greatest band of all time!

  • I'd love to see them play a couple festivals this summer

  • @faridjabba

No it was 96 in düsseldorf germany at the phillipshalle :) some time around Easter - Rockpalast easter rock night

  • nice one, what year n wher pls ?94?

  • Hands down Mellon colie is there best album followed by Siamese dream then Gish. The others dont count

  • In my opinion its kinda tied between Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream, theyre both fantastic.

  • C'mon, Adore and Machine deserve at least some credit. For Martha, Blank Page, With Every Light, Crying Tree of Mercury.. these are great songs!

  • I do agree with you : ) i think Pisces Iscariot should be somewhere in there 2. get collection of b-sides

  • @41senna65 What about pisces Iscariot that had some amazing songs on it

  • It just gets better and better! This is what a proper live band sound like! Jimmy Chamberlain is the reason I play the drums

  • @Dougie208 Jimmy Chamberlain rules!!!

  • I had the disctinct pleasure of seeing these guys during the MCIS tour and they kicked ass. This is such a lovely song, one of my favorites from this album.

  • I love 8:22 when he startles James Iha with the behind-the-nut bend.. awesome.

  • I love moments like that.

  • remember i was into philosophy when sp was rage and readin platio;s republic this song reminde me of dream floating back in time clouds tlakin to socrates plato understanding god and morals ....

    lol

    great song great band

  • es mi favorita del Mellon Collie.. y mientras más larga la toquen más me gusta

  • They just don't make em like this anymore....

  • na miña terra cando é grande dicese CARALLUDO,e esta xente son moi pero que moi grandes

  • abofé que sí! son (ou mellor dito, eran) os mellores

  • Ball of garlic someone tossed onstage! Didn't you read below? Bills a Wampire!!

  • What does Billy kick at the end?

  • Billy Corgan is actually a vampire

  • OH GOD

  • This is one of the most bootlegged shows on the 1996 tour, along with the Brixton Academy acoustic/electric show.

    Great performance!

  • This is my fav band of the 90's I hope they still can make music like this for many years to come

  • This is the first time I've seen this song live; it completely blew me away.

  • Rock and Roll the meaning:

    -react

    -penis position opinion (marriage rank)

(poor person, rich person, prof kid)

    Ans: SAFE ENGINEERING

  • i wish i were in 96' again to change most decisions of my life ;-(

  • I was in that Show. A small Festival with other great Bands like Sonic Youth, back in 1996 i think it was.

    AWESOME! :)

  • i am also proud of being born in the nineties but it makesm me sad that i dint have the chance to see them live with the original ban

    i miss darcy

  • That definitely makes me proud of being born in the nineties

  • does anybody else think billy and the pumpkins dont get enough fucking credit for their music definatley one of the best bands in the past 20 years!

  • agreed

  • i totatlly agree, i only got into them the past few years, iheard 1979 in mtv and loved it and started listening to all their stuff. i recongise some songs from when i was a kid like 'tonight'. they deffo dont get enough credit, alot of people havnt heard of them

  • So true, very few people seem to of even heard of them

If it wasn't for stumbling upon Tonight Tonight on Kerrang! I probably still wouldn't of heard of them

  • @fletcheyboi Yeah every store in casper has no t shirts music videos or anything i think they are way better than nirvana and the best band ever

  • I'm a highly learned individual, my IQ is very high in accordance to society and I believe the smashing pumpkins are I'm sorry I went speechless because words cannot convey absolute truth, without any waste, to be humble is just to know the differences that are such. Please understand what I'm trying to say. A picture can't do it justice neither. I'm forever at a loss when it comes to The Smashing Pumpkins.

  • @ValdorThe1st Are you trying to brag or be philosophical? Or are you talking about The Smashing Pumpkins?

  • @ValdorThe1st Wow, such a learned person would use better grammar. Just sayin'.

  • @ValdorThe1st porselina is perhaps the best balad ever writen

  • @ValdorThe1st In accordance to SOCIETY? That explains a lot.

  • @fletcheyboi Billy when I think about it doesn't get enough credit at all. But, they do have the music to stand by them. And what I mean by music is, well listen to this video. I l still love this stuff 15 years later.

  • @fletcheyboi I agree. Billy even made mention of this in one of the recent editions of Rolling Stone where he stated that he deserved more credit than he got for his work. Even those who hate the Pumpkins have to admit that their music is quite impressive in it's complexity and uniqueness.

  • @LotusCarsLtd The lack of critical recognition is definitely is a curious thing. The Pumpkins weren't even in Rolling Stones 100 greatest artist list a few years ago, but Nine Inch Nails were? I'm not knocking NIN, but come on..... Pumpkins influential can be seen in today's rock bands like Silversun Pickups and the Killers

  • @fletcheyboi

I completely agree; Billy even said something similar in one of this year's editions of Rolling Stone. Some people talk-down about SP's major hits but fail to look at Billy's/SP's massive body of work besides those hits. Porcelina is an amazing and genius song as are a lot of the non-singles.

  • @LotusCarsLtd It's because a large portion of society who think of Lady Gaga, Brittany Spears, Justin Bieber as "great music" wouldn't know great music if it hit them in their face. Outside of the Pumpkins singles that got airplay, the Pumpkins experimented and did their own thing despite what the norm though of them. Alot of their stuff off of Adore was some of their best IMO as well as Machina but it wasn't poppy enough for mainstream media so they took a shit on it. Fuck-em

  • @fletcheyboi definitely!!! I would also love to see their new song Freak from Teargarden by Kaleidyscope on a Rockband or Guitar Hero game!!! That song is awesome!!!!

  • Lol some fag on my page pretty much insulted smashing pumpkins. He listens to techno rave bullshit though. I'd slit my wrists if I had to listen to that shit everyday. Love SP

  • It was billy not kurt cobain who revolutionised alternative music in the 90's!!!

  • kurt opened the gates so that the revolution could happen, but yeah, SP and STP were the leaders of that revolution, really

  • Actually it was Frank Black.

  • no way, nirvana brought their sound to the mainstream, but billys an excellent musician too

  • @aidodonohue To tell you honestly, I've always liked The Smashing Pumpkins better than Nirvana. That is not to say Nirvana wasn't isn't without their merit in terms or revolutionizing Alternative music (I hate that term for music), but The Pumpkins were way better musically. And the direction Billy went in the later part of the 90s definitely influence "Alternative" music to come. I remember listening to Siamese Dream and Gish in the early 90s as a teen more than Nevermind or In Utero.

  • @fatcatbuzz Hmm both good.

  • @aidodonohue so true.

billy had talent and really pushed the boundaries of what had been done before.

kurt was definatly a charismatic dude.. but musicallyi dont think he could touch billy.

    truelegend.

thats why i got the pumpkins heart tattoo on my heart,.

  • @Fishlet30 ON your heart?! Holy crap that's hardcore.

  • @Fishlet30 ON your heart?! Holy crap that's hardcore.

  • @Fishlet30 That's really sweet :)

  • @Fishlet30

The Siamese Dream album cover one? I got it on my arm!

  • @Fishlet30 dude, you don't know how many years i've been thinking about getting the same tattoo, haha!

  • @Fishlet30 I have the same heart over mine as well!

  • @aidodonohue why does it have to be one or the other? the world is shades of grey. they both did.

  • @aidodonohue Kurt opened the door, Billy CHANCED the door

  • @aidodonohue Kurt opened the door, Billy CHANGED the door, and continues to change and evolve his sound. It's true without Nirvana there is no market for the Pumpkins, but Billy took it and ran with it.

  • BILLY CORGAN, PERFECT

  • to all those kids who listen to pop- this is MUSIC, listen to it once in a while.........simply stunning

  • Love the whale sonar guitar echoes

  • amen

  • i heard this song here at guadalajara

    it was fuckin great...

    also daphne descends

    amazing

  • i saw them last year, very good

  • This performance is perfect

  • La canción me parece super imaginada, creativa, intensa y con la magia Smashing. Es super chévere... Gracias

  • si es lo mejor de lo mejor

    y yo los vi!!!!!

  • wonderful song! one of my favorite!

  • well jimmy quit the pumpkins so now its just billy.... the smashing pumpkin

  • he smashes them well

  • Ok, appearantly this entire show was professionally recorded.

So what are the chances of getting it on a DVD of DVD quality?

  • But anyway, this song is amazing, this performance is amazing, and the Pumpkins are amazing... and I'm glad Jimmy isn't dead!

  • yea...i think he gave his best playing in SP in zeitgeist...i think that mission's over for him.

  • You know what, I feel like an idiot.

I remember way back in high school hearing about how Jimmy was no longer in the band because of his heroin use. I suppose my brain just archived that as "Jimmy Chamberlain died of Heroin overdose".

Then I looked online after hearing the shocked responses after my post and realized I'd been wrong all these years! I didn't even know he rejoined the band a while back.

    Sorry for the confusion everyone!

  • great live-performance with godlike last 2 mins.

  • in 3.28 it soo reminds me of thru the eyes of ruby..."and if you spin your love around..."

    great song, love it!!!

  • goodbye jimmy...... :(

  • what's wrong with jimmy?? is he leaving the band?

    i'm sorry bt obviously i'm not well-informed at all...lol

  • he's left the band already !!!!! only billy left now of the original. even so - i will follow with all my heart

the pumpkins are the greatest for ever

  • they are a great band :D

but...what does billy does to all of them!?

i mean, first james, d'arcy and now jimmy??.....lol

  • true, jimmy left on good terms apparently but i'm sure billy can be a nightmare! ah well, i;ll let him off since he's a genius!

  • lol yesh, i think so too! :D

  • what d'you mean? o.O

  • Umm... ok. if hes been dead for years then why a few weeks ago did he quit SP.

  • ...... Are you sure you're not thinking of Jonathan Melvoin? Jimmy Chamberlin is alive and well. Unless there has been some elaborate conspiracy happening with a Jimmy Chamberlin lookalike that is equally talented at drums for the past few years.

  • the intro to this song is completely hypnotic. one of the best song intros ever.
