yea if u look up above him, there in no crowd in the stands, they were probably doing sound and light checks at the same time. plus he isnt wearing his live clothing, and playing as hard and headbanging like he normally does
Yeah what´s with the haters anyway? He´s not Tomas Haake or something but his playing is very clean. He´s not the fastest ever but he sounds very confident and what he does he does it easily. And when he plays the songs the timing between the double bass and the bass guitar is simply perfect. He gives the perfect background for the band to sound pro. I like his sound very much. Plus his style is different from others. Wrengen is one of the pioneers of the modern metal sound.
@quackbeef Man I love overtones. Jazz uses maple drums for those warm open smooth tones, metal usually uses steel for the "bite", and I have no category, but I like brass for those wet ringy overtones. They give so much attitude and I love em!
the tech does most of the tuning you n00b. the artists basically comes in nd plays. the tuning. set up and care is all done by the drumtech while touring
To a point that is true. The drummer has their preference about the tuning (i am a drummer and have gigged with a roadie) and what happens is simple trial and error with the roadie meets the drummer showing them what they like. Then the roadie can just step up and tear down and do his job with ease.
Nope, this is the sound check. The musicians don't play as well as they can because a sound check is only to set levels for the mics and emps etc... And besides. So not alot of effort required. It just sucks i your the engineer, because you have all of those mics to set levels for lol
that deff was a sound check because drumers have to tune there drum and make sure it sounds good and that all the drums are intuned with eachother. trust me. im a drummer iknow.
its a soundcheck dude, they have to make sure drums are intune, and that the sound is ok and ready, i'm not an expert but, that deffently is a soundcheck
It would be hard. The reason why so many drummers don't get more famous then what they should is because of the music genre they are in. And the complexity of the music. I saw him live and his solos are awesome with nasty on double bass but people like Danny Carey will get more props because of the more complicating music and off time signatures.
@ndogg360 Only reason why you never see him pulling blazing fast kick patterns is that the music doesn't ever really call for it. He CAN do it, but it wouldn't fit the music.
With rock and metal drummers i being one of them as i am sure you. We like either of 2 ways. Either level or angled. With angled it is "how" angled do you like. Most of us angled dudes like it anged so that we can play the snare pretty effortless don't have to think about where you left hand is going when playing the snare. You notice he is just playing. With drums it is all about how you like it. I have been playing for a long time and i am in a weird place now where i change this and that
yea man, definitely agree with you. it's all about comfort. one thing eric singer said on his pearl video about every drummer that stuck with me is, "your setup, is your setup." i like my snare flat and my toms fairly flat because it helps me get more of the stick on the drum. but i've also played with angle toms and it did have an effortless feel to it. i think changing things around is good so you can find what you like.
I was at that show! amazing!

if you're waiting until the sound check to make sure your drums are tuned correctly than you have some major problems.
