@trechan He's making sure that the area is clear forward and behind before he indicates to the pilot to throttle up.

The directors always keep their hands visible when they have an aircraft under their control.

weird, for us its two fist together brakes on, when he moves his body left to right see if clearing the aircraft like you said. trechan if you interest you could look up the aircraft signals natops manual and it give an understanding of both flightdeck and flightline hand signals.

Awesome video. The highlights that tells the viewer where to watch the pertinent action are just awesome. The whole thing us beautifully coordinated. At first I couldn't understand the delay, but then you pointed out the pilot signaling his readiness with the salute. Is there any audio comm during this operation?...or is it all hand signals?

I had a question. For training the new pilots like in this video, do they use carriers that are at their home port and not deployed or do they have special carriers for this kind of training?

@bigbfoot1 : The orange and whites use non-deployed carriers to qualify.

I have. Procedures are the same whether it's an orange and white or it's a fleet bird. The only difference is the ordies arming the aircraft.
