  • The drums sound alright to me but in the video he says they're "awful" :s

  • @skywardism

    hi

I did a little video on your request. hope it will help

  • I'm happy to see you have fridge magnates.

  • @eRealist

sure! thats good memories from our family trips

  • Is it easy to load your own samples in too?

  • @MrChemicalCaseuk

    yep

just copy them to SD card and insert into slot

  • ну а на русском слабо?

  • @manay73

    нет, не слабо ))

просто я пользуюсь youtube как огромным источником уроков, а они на 99% на английском. Мне было важно что-то дать взамен.

  • @bobritsky

  • @bobritsky

I do not use social networks, so I don't know where are you live. But if it is Moscow I could give a tripod to you for a couple of months.

Thank you for your videos. They have helped me to make a choice.

  • @pepelnyy спасибо!

    thanx for your proposition mate.

I'm in StPete. I have already bought tiny tripod - lets see how it will work.

  • it sounds like my first drumcomputer from 1987 or even worse. Do you somethimes bypass these sounds while working on the PC or do you use these drums all of the times?

  • @perothing

yep )) I wonder why Zoom didn't invest some money for better drum sounds in R8

I prefer using only metronome for recording when I do it on R8, or use some drum loop to get groove feel. When R8 is plugged to PC I use it only for effects and input\output of audio.

Built in drums in R8 are very nice feature and you can value it when you are away from PC and you need to make some scetches with some drum patterns.

When you back home - replace these drum tracks with good ones.

  • nice job man

  • ur english is perfect. how's the machine ? still works good? thanks

  • @2009korte hi

    thanx mate! everything works fine.

I quit using VST effects on PC - record with R8 effects

  • hey wanna check with you, can i just get a mic in and go around recording all the instruments individually? oh and how does the multi track recording work?

  • @death251

    hi

yes for sure u can do it with 1 mic. U will need headphones as well, to hear what you've recorded and to isolate new mic recordings from those pre-recorded tracks.

basically multitrack recording is just what you've said - recording 1 or 2 tracks in one time to separate tracks, then 1-2 more to different tracks etc.

  • @skywardism

    hey sorry for delay.

it can be done easily in track seq edit mode. press "track", choose "track seq", with cursor keys put position marker on the beat there you want to change meter, then using cursor keys go to top part of display where info about bars/beats is and change meter.

Hope it will help. If not - I will make small upload on that issue.

  • i was looking for something that i could use a drum pad on for just single sound effect samples for shows while i play drums, i know it has the control input but will that work

  • @3vansmus1c

no. this thing is not for that.

You should look for some Alesis or Roland products - they are for drummers.

  • @bobritsky i've looked at alot of rolland and alesis products but all the ones i've looked at dont have internal storage, but i still wanted this for samples and as a drum machine, but im pretty sure on the r8 you can use a drum trigger pad on the "control in" just for start/stop sample

  • @3vansmus1c

    hi there

check this one - samplepad for ALesis

    it can load samples

  • @bobritsky thank you, this is just what i was looking for

  • does this work on windows?

  • @jkmyagoo

yes, it works fine on Win and Mac

  • This is really an exceptional recorder. I got a little Studio Tilt Stand for it on eBay, and now it's perfect. Excellent job Zoom.

  • Im gonna sell my MRS 8 to get something like this one hahaha, who wants to buy MRS 8? Name your price it is still in pristine condition :-)

  • @healinggreen are you able to use a drum trigger on your mrs 8

  • Good information about Zoom R8.

  • Thanks for the demos and review. :) I ordered one today.

  • @Wgrandall

    Good choice.

I could ask Zoom guys for some gift for promoting their stuff :)))

  • Thanks bob- i ordered it and will be getting it this week-For the price and the ease-and it does sound very well- and whatever else always (as anything) can be added when or if you really want to toss it into Logic,Abelton etc....

Thanks for the advice-I took it

    John B. (New Orleans)

  • 24 bit 96k this thing sounds awesome for $300

  • @sorstudios

dont hesitate. if u need more tracks to work with - take R24, but i need portability

  • @sorstudios R24 is 24bit/96k ?

  • @sorstudios

    yes.

  • @bobritsky 48k/24 bit...but still awesome

  • @sorstudios

same as R8 - 96k is only for using it as Audio Interface.

When using as recorder - 48k/24 bit maximum.

  • Bob, you are playing some funky riffs! It sounds great.

    Bill

  • @2billwhite

    thanx mate!

    will post new track soon.

  • Thanks BOB- I knew the drums would not be-minum at best but is the quality of the rest of it good enough and as easy 8 as the revies say) to export it to Logic, abelton and can i just use my Electron or 808 ,707 909 roland eletronic kit. Love to know-if this is really worth it-long as i can add the drums and toss it into the Mac/Pc music program of choice

  • @jonbon242

    Hello Jon.

I can say it worth every cent I've paid for R8. Of course some drawbacks are here, but very minimal.

To export just plug R8 to USB and drag wav files from R8 to any VST-host and work further - layer some drums, effects et.c.

  • Is the rest worth it-I mean i can hook a 808 or machine drum to it for drum but is the qulity good enough so I can transferre to studio logic and do the post and offical mastering/

  • Yes, I would like to see a video how it works with DAW software. My R8 arrived today :-) so I will have a play round with Abelton

  • After watching your video reviews which are very good, I have ordered a Zoom R8. Thank you for the info. Only thing missing is one using DAW software.

  • @chocolatedipmike thanx for that!

Do I understand you right - you'd like to see how R8 works with DAW software? I can do this :))

I've tried it with Ableton Live and Cockos REAPER - everything works. Only problem was to use R8 as control surface in REAPER but after reading some internet I;ve found a solution. ^))

  • no, it has zero built-in memory, recording is possible only to SD card

  • @skywardism thanks for that!

  • Can you export tracks to an USB Stick, without a computer?

And has it build in vocal effects?

(sorry, if my english is not correct)

  • @epiphoner1996

No, if you want to export anything you should use R8 - PC via USB connection or just take out SD card and put it to PC's card reader.

Vocal effects - yes, it has special vocal oriented effects like de-esser e.t.c

  • @bobritsky and, has it vocal effects like harmony voice simalation or intelligent pitch correction?

  • @epiphoner1996

    No, No harmoniser or auto-tune.

  • @bobritsky OK, thank you verry much

  • You are welcome.

If you want a good drum mashine - no. If you want a good sampler - no. But if you want a small convinient recorder with great additional functionality - yes.

  • Just what I wanted to view. Do you think the R* is a good buy?. Thanks for posting!

  • yes, you can create and edit patterns right in the R8.
