They fail to mention the huge increases being made in alternative fuels in the private sector. Wonder why.

I've got admit he went over the top, and kind of dodged the question, do consider that he represents the entire country, and that includes industry., which account for 35% of our greenhouse gas emissions. When people demand regulations for industry it puts the Prime Minister, whoever it is, in a VERY awkward position. Most greenhouse gases come from us, the people, not from industry. YOU regulate industry, don't demand the government do so to the people it represents.

I know Canada is SCREWED if we do not stop consuming Oil for our energy needs.
The price of Oil will double there is nothing we can do about it... so the sooner we get off it by switching to renewables the better. So a carbon tax and a cap and trade we create incentives so WE stop consuming oil. Then in 10 tens years when the price of Oil is double we will have no worries since we dont use it and we can sell to the states at the higher prices.

Layton's plan: put emission limits on companies so they don't pollute more CFCs and pay more money for it.
May's plan: copy Dion's plan.
Study Layton's plan and you'll see better change and better standing for the environment unlike loser-conservatives here and there...

Its the Kyotoites who are narrow minded! They refuse to acknowledge that Kyoto was a failure, and worse they refuse to accept rational criticism that goes against the Kyoto dogma.
Harper says 1) all countries should have binding targets, 2) Canada will have the greatest impact by developing new technology, rather than buying credits and sending the cash to countries without targets. That's a perfectly rational position to take, but the Kyotoites treat it as blasphemy. I'm not swayed by dogma.

Interesting. Harper seems to refuse to distinguish between air quality and pollution per capita. It's the kind of dodging of the issue that the theater of parliament thrives on.

As far as politics here in Canada goes this is a really exciting segment of it. Whoo69, they spoke French because the P.M of Canada must by 'law' speak fluently French and English. As you can probably tell, the constant debating keeps our Parliament real sharp but they never real deal with anything but circular arguments and double-speak.

Canadian Parliament is pretty funny in a way. People shouting random things like "what a joke!" and "what a crock" (if you listen closely at about 3:41). If only Bush were in Congress to hear that about him.

Debating is important as the Party"leaders" must think on their feet. It does serve a bigger purpose.
Can you imagine if Mr. Bush had to stand up in Congress and justify his actions daily? Enough said. Policy is discussed and reworked in committee behind the scenes and in the Senate. It comes back to the "House of Commons" 3 times before the final vote that may make it law.

I personally have become a candidate for the Canadian Action Party, and promise, this crap will stop. its about time we got a former soldier back into the house to take some control of these guys. They look like a pack of undisciplined school boys with the shouting out. How counter productive. Would be nice to see a politician answer the question that was asked - Directly. Medicine whether it tastes good or bad, still must be taken.

In "An inconvient Truth" the first reason given for climate change isn't cars or industry...it's population. Al Gore's own charts show the corelation between the rise in global population and global warming. There are too many goddamn people on the planet. Sadly the people who keep having children are poor, uneducated, and easily manipulated....like most Liberal and Tory supporters.

Climate change is happening but it is not man made! The Conservatives are smart enough to know that but have had their opinions crushed by the public. MY we are so fortune to have Mr. Blaird, a man who single handily has more smarts than over 100 other Governments on the face of this earth.
He now can even now attempt to explain the scuttle nuances between a Carbon tax and a Carbon Credit as he plays politics with our Health.
Definitely a Bright light in the Harper Cabinet when set amongst other all stars such as Mr. "where did I park my Car? O'conner and Mr. Stockwell DayDreamer and even Mr "How does this look" himself.

Do your god damn research. Dion was environment minister starting in 2004 when greenhouse gasses DROPPED! The Clean Air Act is a facade, and Dion was not involved in the scandal. Anyway thanks for uploading this.

Some skeptics in our Government tie our climate increase to Solar Flare emissions etc.from our sun. They don't accept the idea that an atmosphere full of Carbon might act like an insulating blanket and in effect trap heat in. These same people tend to "cherry pick" stats rather than compare the rate of Climate change along side the Industrial Revolution over and oil use the past 100 years.

The vast majority know that Earth is warmed by the Sun and that even other planets are being affected by "greenhouse gas effects", "global warming" or whatever you want to call it. So, are you going to tell us all now that other planets have very high CO2 emissions from cars, trucks, planes, and factories? LOL

yes its true, other planets r also "naturally' effected by Global Warming. Venus is an excellent example of "extremas" of Global Warming at its best. However, u failed to grasp the MAIN underlying issue, which is that CO2 emissions r the end products of human activities that significantly AID (further increase)in resulting in GW. b/c of these man-made "extra" GW "helper" gases, the effects of GW r significantly increasing at a frightningly rapid rate. Dion has a point. Harper doesn't get it.

My only problem with the climate change debate (despite some shaky evidence) is that all government can do is propose more regulations and larger programs to "control" the problem. (read: more taxes).
They fail to mention the huge increases being made in alternative fuels in the private sector. Wonder why.
