They did make one, and it was slower because the Awd system they used (off the aussie adventra X8 (5.7 ls1), 0-100kmh in an amazingly slow 8.2 second) was too ineficient. this is the only reason subaru can get away with such small motors, because they have an extremely efficient drive train.
It's really sad that they couldn't come up with better styling. I was hoping for something that resembled one of the originals. Mine go's low 12's at 109 mph and it has an infinitely adjustable fuel metering devise on it and weighs 3600 lbs.
please god tell me you hit consistent mid to low 12's with better tires...this is why im choosing an sts turbo...more horesepower per pound of boost then anyone and it bolts right on....amazing what a young man testing out turbos on taccomas can learn to do with stock vehicles..on two guys garage or someshow they put one on an SSls1 rated at 269rwhp and it put it up to over 400 at like 6 or 7 psi...and im ls2..
dude an sti would own a gto all day espially when u start taking corners and the sti launches way better hens the awd only if u had huge slicks on the gto
Maybe its high elevation, 90% humidity, and 100 degree weather for these times but when I ran my GTO i was getting easy 13.6 not shifting hard and got a 13.3. This was 2 months after I learned how to drive manual and got the car. Weather was 70 degrees and humidity was around 40% at almost sea level. I was 100%5 stock. Just because a car has 600hp does not mean it should be doing the same times it did when it had 400hp because of stock tires. A slight change with the launch is needed.
hey mama boy first you fucken gto is moded okk try with moded one wrx like you and show me your power >>you can not beat moded wrx in zero >> you are fucken ediot lool
Thanks for the response. You need to get some drag radials and go run again!! Your 13.6 - 1/4 times were due to poor traction right? I managed to squeak a 13.02 @ 107MPH using a friends DR's. You might get into the low 12's or better if you change your tires! I'm thinking about forced induction also - might go with the APS twin turbo setup if I can find an installer. Cool video!
Traction. As stated, he's running the stock tires - he even drives around the water trap in the vid. Drag radial and perhaps some help from pedders and low 12 sec runs (or better) should materialize with regularity.
Amen! Also, if you haven't already planned to do this, you should consider replacing your stock 2-piece drive shaft with a solid single piece from BMR. Many GTO owners with power adders such as yours, who've managed to overcome the traction issues, then go on to break the stock shaft when the hook strong at the track. Better to take care of that before getting the DR's and pedders. Good luck, and post more vids after your next round of mods!!
You should be okay, as long as you don't add any more power and/or push it too hard at the track - no 3500-5000 rmp launches. The stock CV's are pretty strong (good for 700rwhp) and the stock shaft will definitely break before they do.
What are your mods? I usually manage a 13.4 with my stock M6 GTO on stock tires. Looks like you dipped int the 12's on a couple of passes - the end of your vis shows what looks to be a maggie. Is that your only mod? What tires are you using?
@ghostwrx It is much better than the accient system used by gm manufacturers.

FYI, they actually made that, it's called the coupe4 and HSV made it in Australia.
Aussie to the end indeed.

I was afraid of that. You are right...I should.
But....I still want to see how far I can push the stock system. I know they put our CV joints in an Ausi SUV. And I believe they are dana axles.
I'm going to push themfirst...I think.

ok...I figured the shaft might go first.
Plus I'm auto so...I'm a little better protected..I think....;-)
