We know about 2 billion different substances by now, but only a few millions are patentable. Only man made synthetical substances are patentable fpr medicine/the pharma industry.

However the point is: No industry or company in the world will let u make a product when the substance is not patentable, nor will u get research money/funds for this. Even if u find a cure for cancer, nice, but is it patentable? no. So, u have to find something patentable, new, synthetical manmade, good luck... nearly immpossible with this little variety.
