  • what boat are you on ???

  • @1218nicholas We are on Ivo's Key West, Bay/Reef boat, 19 1/2 feet long, center console.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water

  • is that a snapper pole because it looks weak

  • @themontaukmonster1 We like to use medium heavy rods that seem to handle these fish with no problem. Thanks for writing & good fishing!

  • Are you using Power Pro?

  • @bigfri5 Yes - one of my favorite braided lines is power pro. Thanks for tuning in and good luck on the water!

  • @thundermistlures do the viper spoons work well from the shore too

  • @stevenclimber Yes, teh viper sppons work well from shore - just remember that they are a light flutter style spoon, which gets heavier when you add bait, but you may also need to add a weight about a foot in front of your viper spoon to gain more casting distance.

Once you cast out, let it flutter down then point your rod tip down towards the water and begin a slow retrieve - will work great for you!

    Good luck on the water.

  • do people eat bluefish?

  • @MultiWTFVideos Although blue fish are very fishy, many people do enjoy eating them. We like them grilled over a charcoal barbeque. Basted with an olive oil, lemon & seasoning mixture, it becomes a wonderful dish. Give it a try!

    Thanks & good fishing!

  • 8:07 kid hooks the back of his shirt

  • @midnight0falcon Good find! We laughed when we saw that as well :)

  • dang thats a small net..

  • @momo2317 Thanks for tuning in. That small net is actually our favorite bass net, but we end up using it for everything :)

  • @MrPokemonfan231 bluefish are just ruthless fighters if u go for them put on a stronng metal liter

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Blue fish give a fantastic fight - it you catch a big one, you're in for a great time! They are very strong and they aloes jump out of the water.....lots of fun!

  • I see a little container of gulp what was in it, what did you use it for, and how did you rig it?

  • @xxmonitorlizardxx we like to use the GULP leech - black in color. We run them on the back of a viper spoon and they work fantastic! The Viper spoon is the perfect way to fish a GULP leech - it makes it come alive in the water and fish can not resist the flash-n-flutter action of the viper spoon, followed by a trailing bait, such as the GULP leech.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • just bought a new viper spoon i cant wait to test it out. and can i fish it from a jetti (the rocks on beaches to seperate beaches)? thanks!

  • @OneHitKillGaming Congrats on your new Viper Spoon - you are going to love using it! The Viper Spoon is a light flutter spoon, and you can be cast off a jetti. It will gain some weight once you add your trailing bait, but if you still need more weight, you can add a split shot about a foot in front of your viper spoon.

Otherwise, just cast it out, let it flutter down, the n point your rod tip down towards the water and begin a slow/steady retrieve - it will work great for you!

  • hey ivo i live in buffalo and theres literally a river 5 minutes away from my house lake erie and niagra river i tryed a little quick fishing with some garden worms at the niagra river and boy caught 2 bass 1 white perch and 7 yellow perch and i was wondering where can i find the rules and regulations for all those fish thank you very much

  • how much was ur boat

  • @KISSESANDPIGLET This boat was bought in Canada, but made in the USA - today, it woudl cost somewhere in the $30K range

  • what size spoon? and how do you hit the blues? by jigging or just realing it in ? please respond id highly appreciate it

  • @woopsreptiles Try a size SP4 Viper Spoon. Rig it with fresh (not frozen) fish such as mackerel, menhaden, sea robin belly or other fresh fish. You can use whole fish, fillets or strips. The key is that it must be fresh. Rig your Viper & let it out about 100 feet away from your boat. Do not use any weight - the Viper will be suspended. Just drift or slow troll & you'll be good to go. Thanks!

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Probably around 2-3 lbs. Thanks!

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Try whole sqiud for both fish. It should work for you! Thanks & good fishing!

  • is it possible to tie two viper spoons to the line

  • @spookycheese123 It is possible to have two 3-way set-ups on one line with 2 Vipers - one above the other. The Viper on top could have a short leader - say about a foot long. Would not recommend using 2 Vipers flat lining as there may be no action on one lure due to interference with the line. Thanks for your inquiry!

  • hey can someon tell me if it is normal to catch a baby blue/snapper in a canal in nj

  • @DaUalldayx3 as long as it was salt water, it will definitely be normal as the baby blues can be found traveling inshore during the summer months.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water.

  • Where were you?I have been fishing at:Cooters pond and a creek large creek conected to a river I have casted and catched a bream

  • @marnienorris We were salt water fishing in Cape Cod area. Nice catch! Bream are good eating. Good fishing!

  • what reel were you using

  • @dwai94 ...the salt striker reel form Cabela's.

Thanks for writing in & good fishing!

  • Congratulations! Amazing video! This video was added to website: fishing-hunting.INFO

  • @fishinghuntingGR Glad you enjoyed our video and thanks for taking time to write to us and adding us to your web site.

  • Yeah where is this?

  • @deniz00128 We were fishing in Buzzards Bay, MA and had a great time!

  • where is this?

  • @greatsantini7 We were fishing in Buzzards Bay, MA and had a great time!

  • @thundermistlures i fish in buzzard bay to how deep of water where you in? and can you tell me any place to jig for mackerel for live bait

  • @greatsantini7 We were fishing in 20 to 25 feet of water - out by the bird island gong buoy, drifting between the buoy and Cleveland ledge channel.

For the mackerel, we head of of Plymouth and fish in 50 to 70 feet of water. If you can not get out there, check with your local tackle shop for fresh mackerel (not frozen)

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water

  • @thundermistlures do you keep the fish? Also soon im going to buy fishing equipment is trying to catch a bluefish to hard for a bluefish(long island sound)

  • @oscarfishlover01 We enjoy eating bluefish so we do keep some. There are plenty of blues in Long Island Sound. You should have no problem to catch them. Good luck!

  • @thundermistlures to unhook them can i use regular pliers? there thin but not needle nosed

  • @oscarfishlover01 Sure, regular pliers will work as long as the hande is long enough. Thanks!

  • What pound test do you use?

Me and my dad only get to go blue fishing one week a year so i wanna know if 12 pound mono with a 25 pound braid leader would be good for landing fish this big (or even bigger)

    Please reply

  • @xkillswitchx23 12 to 14 lb. mono is plenty strong for blues. The main concern is they can easily cut mono or braid leader. Try steel leader & you should have no problem. Good luck!

  • @thundermistlures

Ok, we cast spoons from the surf, and last year we had steel leaders but it killed the action of the spoons. Do you think that the less action cause by the leader would make the blues not bit?

  • @xkillswitchx23 Having less action from your lure will certainly have an impact on the number of strikes from fish.

The steel leader is always good to use for blues. Find a method that your lure will function with the steel leader - perhaps a thinner, shorter one - additional swivel? Thanks!

  • o my...i fish off shore..and man i dont get action like that...ive cauhgt blues...but man nothing like that.its just man that viper lure looks awesome just dont wanna get it stuck and lose it.man wish i had some master fisherman friends lol. tired of going out for hours and not catching nothing lol

  • @anthonyc1113 glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for writing in - hope you have many great days on the water!

  • The beach i go to< at certain times in the year ppl bring coolers to the beach because these things get stranded on the beach chasing the minnows in the waves, very good to eat, very fun to catch as well

  • @Omgzitzrocket They surely are aggressive. We've never witnessed this & would find it very amusing for sure!

Thanks for writing & good fishing!

  • what do u rig the viper spoon with? or do u just jig it?

  • @Besties8771 The Viper Spoon is not designed to be jigged but rather trolled or drifted. You can rig it up with cut-bait strip, whole or strip squid, small whole fish (the head is located on the hook closest to the spoon), whole fillets of smaller fish such as mackerel, & soft artificial plastics. For blues, the Viper can be fished while drifting & without any weight added to your line. Just bait your Viper & send it out about 50 - 100 ft. away from your boat. Thanks & good fishing!

  • @Besties8771 you would use artificial bait real bait and cut bait such as chicken liver

  • ONE THING THAT I DO IS TO CATCH MINNOWS AND HOOK THEM THROUGH THE LIPS AND USE A BOBBER SO THE MINNOWS JUMP AROUND AND BECOME STUCK AND THE BLUES WILL COME AND SNATCH THEM UP

  • @jerseyst1 Blues are very aggressive and at times will take just about anything they are offered. Your system definitely works great. Thanks for sharing & godd fishing!

  • What length leader where you using?

  • @jawsflounderace Generla rule of thumb - we like to go about twice the length of your rod as a leader line. This way, the knot sits roughly, between your reel and the first eye on your rod (so it does not interfere with your casting). Also, should you need to re-tie for any reason, you will have enough leader line to do so, without having to re-tie on a new leader line.

Thanks for tuning in and until next time, good luck and good fishing!

  • 8:07 he gets a fish hook in his shirt

  • @nosredna1624 Good observation....we got a good laugh at that too :)

  • What size works best for blues and stripers?

  • @Drfisher11 We recommend sizes SP4 or SP5. One bait that you may try is a whole fillet of mackerel. The SP5 will also accommodate a whole small mackerel with the head located on the hook closest to the spoon. For both fish, you may drift your Viper without any sinker and about 100 feet back from your boat. Set you drag & prepare for a hit!

    Thanks for your inquiry!

  • One more question. Sorry for all my questions. What size viper spoon works best for a large variety of fish? Sp2? Sp3?

  • @Drfisher11 The size SP3 will accommodate many spieces of game fish including muskies.

Thanks for your inquiries & good fishing!

  • I'm sorry not pike but walleye and tiger Muskie

  • @Drfisher11 Again, Vipers will work if slow trolled for both spieces. Thanks

  • Do viper spoons work good for largemouth bass and pike too?

  • @Drfisher11 Viper Spoons will work for both spieces if trolled or drifted. Although for largemouth, it's best to cast for them. We have a casting spoon called the Python Darter which works great for both spieces. Thanks!

  • what color viper spoon works best for bluefish?

  • @Drfisher11 We like to use the green mackerel color, which is color code 750. It gives off plenty of flash and the Blues really like this color. Straight silver also works really well.

Thanks for writing in & good fishing.

  • What color viper spoon works best?

  • What color viper spoon works best for bluefish?

  • What bait did you put on the hook?

  • @Drfisher11 We were using mackerel on the back of a size SP5 Viper Spoon - it's a dynamite combination.

Thanks for tuning in - good luck on the water and good fishing!

  • do u recommend to use a viper spooon or those fake things on the surf beacuse im going fishing today and i want to catch fish with out wasting a whole lot of bait thank you

  • @barbar2223 Viper Spoons work great tipped both artificail or live/cut bait...so if you want to use artificail bait on your Viper Spoon, go ahead. The bait will stay on your hooks nicely, so you shouldn't waste a lot of bait.

Good luck on the water today - we hope you catch plenty and have a great day on the water!

We also have plenty more great fishing tips on our Thundermist Fishing Tips .com web site.

Until next time, good luck and good fishing!

  • What is the best line to use to catch stripers and blues?

  • @Holyjtizzle123 It's a matter of preference. Monofilament line rated 14 to 20 lbs is good. 30 pound braid is also good. For braided lines, it's recommended to use a fluorocarbon leader. Thanks & good fishing!

  • where were you sishing?

  • @Holyjtizzle123 We were fishing Buzzard's Bay. Thanks!

  • how did u fish the viper spoon and what did u put on the hooks?

  • where were you? and how far out

  • @xkillswitchx23 We were out in Buzzards bay, out from Woods hole...great fishing in this area!

  • @thundermistlures where is Buzzards Bay?

  • @xxJayxBoyx14 West of Cape Cod region. Thanks!

  • i mean the rod that dug was using

  • @minichinatown Doug was actually using a freshwater muskie rod, made by Quantum (sorry, I can not remember the model)

Although it was a fresh water rod, it did very well.

  • @thundermistlures thanks and very nice fishing have fun with your trips

  • @minichinatown No problem. Good fishing to you!

  • wat type of rod is that

  • @minichinatown Cableas, salt water striker Rod...it s decent rod and well priced as well.

Thanks for writing in and good fishing!

  • Nice Catch.... Congrats... Way to go... By the way... How did you get it away from the rocks?

  • @ecrusso Actually, there were no rocks near our boat. Thanks!

  • i stay in scotland where do u get the viperspoons and the green mackral and the blue sanrdine

    how much are they

  • @16MiniMan The best place to get the Viper Spoons is from the online store at Thundermist Lures web site. The Pricing varies by size and model, stating at $6.99 CDN funds.

You will love using the Viper Spoons in Scotland as they will work great for you!

Let us know if you have any other questions as we are always happy to help. Until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • a scup is a porgy right?

  • @xRandomChannel That's correct. Thanks!

  • What pound test line would you recommend when fishing a viper spoon from shore, with a 5 inch plastic worm on the back? I have a couple of questions.

  • @Allaroundstuff For blues, 10 lb test mono will be fine. As a side note, the Python Darter will cast much farther than a Viper Spoon. If you're planning to purchase, the Python is your best bet & will accommodate a 5" plastic worm nicely as well. Thanks & good luck!

  • Great vid! How do these work? Do you just cast them, let them sink and reel or do you sometimes jig? I fish alot off of beaches and don't get out on a boat much. Can I catch stripers, blues, fluke off of the shore with these in long island sound?

  • @Allaroundstuff You can cast the Viper Spoons, but they are best used when drifting or trolling because they are light - they get hevier once you add your bait & work great for all game fish.

The Python Darter is a casting spoon and also work great for blues/stripers/fluke and this will work great from shore.

Also, If you like to jig, the Boa Jig'r is fantastic!

Glad you enjoyed the video & thanks for writing in. Until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • When you use these lures (Viper Spoons) do you just cast them out and reel them in at a normal pace? Or do you cast it out, let it sink into the water and reel it back up?

  • @BxBadBoy1017 The Viper Spoons are very light - so if you cast them, you will want to let them sink down close to the bottom and then begin to retrieve. Although the Viper Spoons are light, they get heavier once you add your trialing bait.

The Python Darters are a casting spoon and thus, are easier to cast.

Thanks for writing in and let us know if you have any other questions as we are always very happy to help.

Until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • @thundermistlures Also im so sorry, how tall was the rod?

  • @BxBadBoy1017 The rod was 7 feet long. We like to use 6 1/2 foot - 7 foot rods as they are a good, general purpose length, for many applications.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water.

  • And uhmm sorry for being annoying but for his rod, did it have a lure weight restriction? And does it really matter if you go over the lure weight recommended for your rod?

  • @BxBadBoy1017 We've used lure weights that were heavier than the rod specified with no problem - but the rod was a medium/heavy action rod.

If you are using heavier lures, typically, you want to have a rod that has enough "backbone" to set the hook. So if you plan on using heavy lures, make sure you use a medium/heavy or heavy rod and you should be o.k.

    Until next time, good fishing.

  • @thundermistlures Was Doug's rod an offshore/boat rod or a regular spinning rod? and if you don't mind me asking, where did you get it?

  • @BxBadBoy1017 We think it is a Quantum Classic rod (boat rod) and we know that it was purchased from the Toronto Sportsman's Show. Thanks!

  • what kind of pole and reel did doug use?

  • @BxBadBoy1017 Both rod & reel is from Quantum. Rod was medium heavy. Thanks!

  • where do you catch them?

    Take me with u.

  • @1ozgursarikaya Blue fish are all along the east coast. We like to catch them on eh coast of NJ, RI, & MA

Blues are a lot of fun to catch - just be aware of their sharp teeth as they will cut your fishing line in a second!

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • where do you catch them?

  • @1ozgursarikaya We have caught these blues in Cape Cod area. Basically blue fish can be caught in near shore seas in eastern North America and also in many other parts of the world. Thanks!

  • I've given up on using Shad for Bluefish, they always get bitten in half right behind the hook.

  • @quack447 If you like to use shad, a Viper Spoon should do the trick. Fillet the shad & impale the whole fillet on the harness. Chances are, the blues will be in your boat! Thanks & good fishing!

  • @xavier9706 That's great! Thanks for sharing!

  • @xavier9706 Ivo was using the salt water striker rod, by Cabelas. It's a very nice in-shore rod.

Thanks for writing in and for tuning in - until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • hahaha those "Viper-Spoons" sell 5-for $38....what a fuckin rip off, who wud spend 8 dollars on a goddamn spoon

  • @Bbfishman Thanks for sharing your opinion & good fishing to you!

  • @Bbfishman people will spend well over $10 for a lure don't feel bad

  • ur fishing action in your videos are good..but ur narrating is homosexual to say the least

  • I was just down at indian river in delaware and we caught a bunch of 'em off spoons. I havent tried my python darter yet but i garuntee they will nail that. They put up a great fight too! Great video

  • @SPORTSxKiiD12 Blues are fun to catch - no doubt! Good fishing!

  • @SPORTSxKiiD12 wat spoons do u use? i use a bucktail with a gulp mullet

  • @SPORTSxKiiD12 wat spoons do u use? i use a bucktail with a gulp mullet

  • Caught a 22 inch Fluke last week....

  • @franv71 That's a nice fish! Thanks for sharing!

  • Ease up on pushing the Viper so much. Sometimes less is more.

  • @SeabearVideo Thanks for writing in and sharing your thoughts with us - much appreciated.

Until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • blue fish remind me of sharks

  • @MrMinime24 Blue fish have very sharp teeth, so I can see where there would remind you of sharks!

Thanks for writing in & good luck on the water.

  • THOSE POLES DO LOOK LIGHT

  • @mighty9178 They do look light, but they can easily handle the fish that we were targetting. Thanks & good luck on the water!

  • This video seems more like a documentary and an infomercial for the Viper than a fun day of fishing.

It also seems the people are using rods that are too light, but with braided line that is too heavy, because the fish are taking almost no drag.

  • @darklordbill They were using medium heavy rods with braid. That combination will work for bigger fish such as stripers. They were prepared just in case. Thanks for your opinion & good luck fishing!

  • @nmigliore Casting a baited jig and retrieving it would be easier, however, if you try otherwise, cast your line out, let your lure sink a bit and then point your rod tip straight down and begin a slow retrieve.

The key is to have your rod tip pointed down and the retrieve must be slow...this should do it!

Unit next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • caught a 50 pound striper last week

  • @brndmore7 Excellent!! Good fishing!

  • @smoothcriminal997 You could reel-in as fast as you wish. The fish are very fast in warm water. Mind you, even a slow retrieve will also work. Good fishing!

  • I've never used any lures or fake bait. can i use this of a jetty and how would i use it? just cast it like i normally would ?
