But the fights in Gabbage Seed Destiny weren't real fights. If Shinn was focused, Athran wasn't wishy-washy, and Kira wasn't God; then whoever would win would be up in the air.

he survived it becoz he didn't got stabbed in his cockpit but his nuclear reactor which was shut off, arcangel wounded his gundam when they blowed up a compartment while his phaseshift was off, the cockpit is the strongest shielded part. he came back so strong becoz he already was that strong but he went to the arcangel all the time instead of really finishing shinn off, plus he had a improved gundam.
So yeah. It wasn't a real fight. But it's known as script immunity. And even if Kira did escape via his cockpit, that wide explosion would've killed anybody (since it trashed Shinn's Impulse). Fukuda and Morosawa are horrible at their jobs.

Characters who are "ultimate" also tend to be annoying; like the rich kid who brags about having all the toys. So yeah. Characters were better during the days when Amuro was focus and Char atleast participated in what he did 100%
