It is a myth that Amusement Makers owns the rights to PC-98 stuff, Amusement Makers being an unofficial development team whose membership constantly shifts. The simplest and likeliest explanation is that ZUN can't think of a way to bring back Mima into the plot without it seeming hackneyed (like Alice's re-introduction).
@kurosujiomake Then let me bathe you in the signs that Mima will appear! Just at the touhou 13 demo release, ZUN posted several Mima pictures on his Pixit account, one art picture, and one picture with the touhou 13 artwork and one showing different pictures of Mima's expressions...
@kurosujiomake Seeing as the demo dictates that it's based around death and spirits, I'd expect it. If it doesn't, I'm going to bombard Zun with avocados.
@kurosujiomake don't count on it. ZUN is too much of a dick (sorry but him removing mima was a dick move) to put her back in. he says he would find it weird to keep the pc-98 in the games and would be hard to fit a story with them in them, but he could've found some way to do it :(
Wow, this song is very good! I don't know why some people just ignore PC-98 touhou, in my opinion they're very good games, and the music is very good too for being 8Bit music.

(for some reason i think the shot pattern of sanae on the beta is very similar to mima patern on PoDD and MS)

Mima can possible come back, because Yuuka did. Yuuka is also from PC-98,so ANY pc-98 can make a suprising appearence.

I have read in an interview with ZUN somewhere that he really has got problems with bringing back characters which have been missing for some itme.
Said he wouldn't have an answer if someone asked "Where habe you been all the time?"

Not 8-bit at all, but I definitely agree about it being a very nice song and PC-98 games to be kickass (3,4 and 5 at least).
