Ive talked to Ben in real life and this is what he told me. In the first place his real intent wasnt really trying to win, he came there to make a performance unlike any other, show the different side of competing instead of staring at the yoyo hardcore not even paying attention to the crowd. He came there and blew the worlds minds away and did what he wanted to do..

I think it's funny a lot of people are concerned about whether or not he won. To me, it doesn't look like he was trying to "win." He was trying to put on a heck of a good show, which he did. Whether or not he gets first in the judges' minds is of little importance if everyone else thinks he had the best freestyle. Yoyoing isn't about scoring "points", it's about performance. And Ben's a performer, plain and simple.

apparently a flamboyant smile and sloppy cheer leader moves are what it takes to get first... only reason i watched this vid is because i saw the judges scored this one higher in the artistry/control category and risk category than the first place guy. This is an amazing performance and an excellent show, but it's not really competitive, which is why I can see it getting 4th place. His tricks were really flashy and great for a show, but he spent a lot of time doing a lot of extra fillers, as opposed to a really competitive player who spends each and every second doing a trick.
