This is the price we pay when we elect foolish leaders who would not serve themselves. Clinton and Bush refused to serve in Vietnam...and did not learn from those mistakes!!!
Why don't you put up tombstones? Crosses are torture devices. Were those soldiers tortured too? If not, it's dishonest to use a cross. Besides, promoting a religion during a war is self-defeating. Where is God? On the throne?
Do you really have to question that here and now? How about just letting them be honored and leave religious/political/societal issues aside? It is more about honoring those who have lost their lives for our country, whether you agree or not. Otherwise, your suggestion also would suggest that Arlington should be changed?
I completely agree. We should show what these men and women purchased with their lives. Hundreds of children under the age of 12 are no longer in Saddam's prisons. Men no longer killed so Saddam's sons can take the wives. Food and aid actually being delivered rather than stolen in the Oil for Food program.
I was there last Monday, July 30th, 2007, it's still there - and I'm still recovering from my visit. Go there - take people there, especially young people - it is a powerful reminder of the price we pay for setting loose the dogs of war once more - may God and these families forgive us.
That's too bad for the people that died in the war.... but come on, I don't want to see this stuff when I go to the beach.

the city really doesn't support this... something more permanent wouldn't be allowed. They barely allowed what it is to continue.

Yes it is. It will make you cry every time you see it. Each time I have gone to see it, the crosses have spread further & further out in the sand.
