  • Smoking is a way to get toxins into your body. some foods, sugar and alcohol are others. A healthy diet without soda, and more natural organic foods would be a good preventative measure. Research good supplements and exercise. There are a lot more things to do, do your research.

  • WTF, everyone with Gerd (Acid Reflux) worries about this cancer but Gerd isn't even a main risk factor. Approximately, less than 0.5% of non-smokers and normal drinkers who have chronic Gerd actually develops esophageal cancer. The esophageal cancer scare is part of the reason why Gerd medication is so expensive. Stop taking your Gerd medication, because it's a waste of money. Just eat well, maintain a healthy weight and done drink much or smoke at all. I do all this, have Gerd and I feel fine.

  • @flyingpowerlogitech

Yes, my dad shared a room with a 18 year old boy with Esophageal cancer, so yes it is possible.

  • Is it possible to have this when you're only 17?

  • Does anybody see the point of this video. it really has a sarcastic view on cancer. it kills so many people over and over again. The basis of cancer is that it can hit anyone! the point of smoking and drinking is true but do you want us to be zombies over and over again. ps Cancer is A Bad thing

  • @ChurchofGOD7thDay

I'm sorry to hear that. Good that they got it all out..

My dad is getting kemo. He's getting it at the hospital, every 4th week, and then pills at home for 2 weeks at the time. Then 2 weeks break.

Becouse his cancer has spreat to his lungs, so now he also has lungcancer, then they can't operate. Kemo is the only way so far.

Today he was in, got an CT, and a lot of blodtest. The 10th we will know if the kemo has worked

Thank you. :) I will pray for you too.

  • Well it could be that smoking and drinking is helping the cancer develop, but my dad has esophageal cancer - and he has never smoked, and he dont drink that much. He is dying becouse of it anyway - So you can get it anyway. And die anyway. My dad is 'only' 52, but i'm 14 and my sister is 12 - we dont deserve to lose him! Period.

  • @luralauralura

I'm also 52 and just had surgery to remove esophagus and larnyx due to cancer. I have 5 children ages 11, 13, 15, 16 and 20. They can really relate to how you feel.

How is your dad doing? I pray for him. Has he had any medical treatment?

They were able to remove all the cancer during my surgery.

  • Hahahhaha, suffer Christopher Hitchens! You Iraqi baby killer!

  • my mom died last january because of this type of cancer!she doesn't have any vise like smoking or drinking alcohols...we don't know where did she get it!

  • Sure, drinking and smoking increase the risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus, but it is the acid reflux that causes the adenocarcinoma of the lower third of the esophagus that is dramatically increasing in this country. Who cares, what doesn't cause cancer. The only 100% way to avoid getting any type of cancer is to avoid birth...

  • i have something called diffuse Esophageal spasms, when its active i cant eat or drink, it is rare because i was born with it and diagnosed with it when i was 12.

  • My brother didnt drink or smoke and he died at the age of 30 with this terrible cancer

  • True. There is also a vaccination now available against heliobactors which cause a large percentage of esophageal and stomach cancers.

It should however, be stressed, that smoking cessation is the single best decision any rational person can make.

  • Thats kind of taking the narrow route don't you think?

  • bulimia causes it to

  • i hope this gets to people.

or they listen to what this video says.

ive seen what this kinda cancer does to the person.

  • Awesome video!

In This Time's a Charm; Lessons of a Four-Time Cancer Survivor, Donald A. Wilhelm tells his real-life story from a patient's perspective about surviving cancer four times. His intent is to give his readers a true depiction of what cancer, and its treatment, is really like. "I've had pretty much had every treatment and every drug out there at one point or another," says Wilhelm.
