Nice Car Man Love It my dad has one with a 550 Engine with a Steel forge Crank shaft with corvet transmission and headers and yes it has a cam and i tell u this sounds so sexy, well sir u have a nice car :)
Can I give some friendly advice from a Man who knows... Switch carbs because that one just can't supply the fuel air needed when the turbo builds boost... get a Carb made for blow thru turbos and hold on to your hat ....
i've run this combo for a year or so now with no issues from the ebay turbo gt45, cam is .462/.482 comp dual energy. i run a 3" downpipe with a removable muffler for track days and i did upgrade the carb to an 850 demon with annular boosters that i modified for blowthough use. 14.1 at cruise/ 12.7 at wot with no mixture issues.a blowthrough carb is nothing more than a further modified off- the-shelf carb. it's not hard to do, just takes some research......
That motor defiantly needs more cfm and hope to god he was smart enuff to get a blow threw carb not like this other idiot on you tube that is trying to prove that his edelbrock afb works flawlessly on his twin turbo setup
Hey man with just the single, what kind of exhaust are you running? what size downpipe? is it a y-pipe into a dual exhaust? dumped at the axle? any mufflers? thanks!
hey iv been looking and reading up and theys turbo kits off ebay and ever one is talking bad about thim i was just wanting to kno if u have had good luck with yours and do they rlly give u about a 100 hp on stock motor or how much did it help yours....
What's he running for a cam? I want to build a twin turbo 327 everyone's telling me to go for cubic inches I'm looking for an efficient combo that's sensible on the road as well as performs at the track. I could care less about suckin that much more fuel when i stomp on it.
@fm3t10 Well I can't tell you how many miles have been put on this particular car as it is not mine, but the owner recently told me he's driving it quite a bit with no problems. On my turbo Iroc, I have just passed 10,000 miles with my ebay turbo with no problems at all.
By " 600 cfm 1 piece carb" do you mean a regular carb or blow thru? I am hoping it isn't blow thru because I don't see why a non blow thru carb wouldn't at LEAST be streetable at low boost.
@jimmjimm6699 You can put a turbo on just about any stock engine. How much success you will have depends on how well you tune it, but most stock engines will tolerate at least 6-8 psi with a reasonably conservative tune.
sorry to tell you but this is a custom kit built from a stock stainless crossover pipe from a late model chevy truck, the turbo is the gt45 with the 1.05 exaust housing. i do not recommend ebay turbos that are un-proven but the gt45's are durable as they get......still working perfect ......
hey man how is ur ebay turbo holdin up... can u pm me seller if its still good or not? im thinking of getting gt35r for my s/c cobalt and converting it to turbo
ay dude can u check out my el camino and see if i willbe able to rig my engine to have turbos. because i want to buy the kit but im not sure if it'll work my el camino is on my videos
ok im getting a turbo kit from ebay really soon. and was wondering about the fitment? was it true bolt on? and were the pipes bent alredy for the car?? thank you
@Ninjafightergaiden No they will generally not bolt right on. Some of the ebay turbo kits are pretty good deals for what you get, others not so much. I don't know of any that will bolt right on to any chevy setup. Search google for 'the turbo forums'. You'll find plenty of info on this subject. Good luck!
I commend you for your work! Ebay turbos DO WORK. I am running oen right now. Check out my video (ebay turbo round 2) You are right, these turbos are low pressure. ive noticed high pressure will kill the oil seals.

very nice setup how is the ebay turbo going? ive been told the ebay turbos are bad on quality. what type of turbo is he running? is this turbo kit completely ebay built?
how are the turbos from ebay? I want to put one on my mustangs and want to get opinions but people are fast to put those turbos down without even buying or seeing one.
@GOODolAMERICANMUSCLE I can speak for myself and two other people I know locally that have had no problems out of ebay turbos. That is not to say you won't get one with problems, but I'm of the opinion that if the endplay is right and it isn't out of balance then there is no reason it won't hold up. I'll spring for a decent brand turbo when I put some money into the engine though, just to be safe.
@zz3astro Alright that sounds good. I got a 86 5.0 that I am looking to put this on. The one thing I have heard about these turbos are that the seals get blow from the lack of oil restrictors. Have you had problems with these? Great looking cars btw.
@GOODolAMERICANMUSCLE No problems here, but my car has pretty low oil pressure anyway because of the miles. It idles hot around 14 psi and never sees more than 50 when it's cold and turned up. Turbos don't need excessive oil pressure and a restrictor is a good idea. Also your drain line must be pretty big and unrestricted. It is best to go directly into the top of the oil pan, although I used my fuel pump blockoff plate. I will change to the oil pan return when I rebuild.
@bluebulk As far as I know it's a Holley one piece... I think they made them for a short time around 1999-2000. Can't seem to find any info on the web though.
@whitroc01 I am working on getting some new video of this car. Haven't talked to him lately but last I heard he'd been driving it around all the time. Not sure about the suspension but these guys do a lot of racing so I'm sure it's set up decently.
no intercooler?!
