  • Great work, thanks for posting, this and your other video where you accidentally give the tail measurement for "this" application, have been very helpfull.

    For those like myself, who had to start with nothing, perhaps you could mention how to work out what the ideal tail length should be, and also if it matters, just exactly how far down from the thimble should the winch line should pass through the tail ?

  • @UCmumstaxi Proper "tail" length is determined by multiplying the diameter of the line by 63. As you are constructing the thimble end of your line, make sure that when you have the thimble placed and sized in the line, you still have the 63 times line diameter to bury. For example, 3/8 diameter line converted to decimal is .375. Multiply that by 63 and you get 23.625. I always round up so your tail will be 24" long. This is what should be buried in the line past the thimble.
