  • What e-collar work did you do prior to this?

  • If you use E-collar, you are not a true retriever trainer .. get so sad when I see this film.in Sweden, this is illegal ... thank God for that.

  • @kexfem I agree. I taught my dog to do the retrieve using Lonnie Olson's Backchained Retrieve with a clicker. She learned it in one day, and has never failed to retrieve her dumbbell since. There's no reason to have to force a dog any more. I wish people like this would just TRY to adopt more humane methods. She sure doesn't look like this is any fun for her.

  • @kexfem That makes me want to move to Sweden! This video was horrid.

  • This is much the way Margot trains at Applewoods. It really works since we just got our first CDX! The tap is on the electronic collar, so helpful to make it black and white to the dog

  • Nice dog. Movement is distracting. Especially when the dog starts moving.

  • I want to teach my Dog this, I'm glad I found it, and thank you for producing this Video, its an eye opener for me! I dont understand the tapping, because it seemed happening when the Lab was doing it and not doing it? I'll watch it some more, thank you.

  • Wonderful video. What about teaching the dog to reach or dive for the bumper? Or is this a preliminary skill to teaching the Force Fetch?

  • This is working on hold separate from the "fetch"

  • Okay, thank you for the response. This is a great idea for an obedience exercise. I may use this on my puppy--I think she is a little immature to begin the Force fetch, and this would be really productive to work on until then.

  • when you say tap tap tap and then replace- you are tapping with the e-collar at a low level or a warning level or what?

  • Download their (Ponderosa Kennel) e-collar training file (PDF) and you'll see the table on page 14. It's made of PVC pipe and plywood (coated with indoor/outdoor carpet).

  • Where did you get that table, or did you make it yourself? It looks solid.

Nice dog and a well-done video.
