dave mustaine (megadeth) asked jeff waters to audition for lead guitar but he turned it down to continue with annihilator. (this is according to a interview i read with jeff). marty friedman got the spot.

@czr7j9 Thats true, Dave Mustaine has also spoke of it in an interview, it was back before Rust in Peace. Could you imagine what RIP would of been like with Jeff Waters on lead? Marty Friedman did a phenomenal job on that album, but theres something about Jeffs querky geeky personality that really comes out in his playing, and it's incredibly fun to listen to. In my opinion Annihilator deserve a shit load more attention, mind you, most good metal guitarists know and respect him.

7 fret stretch isn't a big deal when it's that high up on the frets, but basically it's fret 5 to 11( okay it's doable), frets 3 to 10 and 1 to 7 you've got monstrous hands or your hand/arm position so so weird that it'll be near impossible to play the those notes effectively.

Imo Criteria for a Black Widow is a classic. Was great to hear Randy Rampage sing for Ann again. I actually like some of their newer albums like Schizo Deluxe and their self titled album. Although not classics they are still imo very good.

does anyone else notice how his vibrato is just small shakes of the string with no rhythmic definition? his licks are good, but the vibrato is very lacking. not terrible, but lacking. the solo sounds like it was all just one big improv, but its chopped and put in. he messed up a lot in the outtakes and he would go back to insert the parts that he messed up on dragonforce style. you can see those mess ups in this dvd and these licks arent difficult
