@Wheelsgr ha! this video is sooo old!! check out my new hair channel, "chescalocs" the videos are sooo much better. i'm sure you'll look cute tonight!
@chescaleigh Hmm: update, didn't have a rat thingy and didn't like how the up-do suited my face but I did something that combined some flat-twists like you did on your newest vid plus a fake bang. If I get some good photos I'll definitely post on the fb wall - i'm a locstar, baby!
I'm kind of in love with your videos. I may as well get that out of the way first. Second, how do you lock your roots up? I've been doing the root-roll and it's been pretty unhelpful xD
whats a good moisturizer that i can use everyday 2 keep my locs from feeling hard n dry? ive been having that problem lately n nothing seems 2 work for me..PLEASE HELP!!!!
Jamaican Black Castor Oil is what I use to moisturize my dreads. BUT: it's really thick and smells a little smoky, so you can mix it with some other oils to tone down the scent. I use it because I'm older and my dreads are thinning. I have chronic dry hair and found this product online. But, don't take my word for it, just type in Jamaican black castor oil here in the search bar and see the testimonials yourself.
@jerseyking456 Have you tried aloe vera juice? I had the same problem with my first set of locs and I have been using aloe vera juice (you can get it at the health food store) mixed with water daily and it is great. I also use Nature's Blessing on my scalp and just started using some Taliah Waajid protective mist spray that i used as a loose natural and it seems to be doing well. It makes my hair relly soft, but I only use it after I wash my hair. I hope this helps.
omg che! at 2:07 if you pause it, it looks like a drooping dead face, the way the light hits! it's fuckin crazy!! but i mean, ur beautiful, it just totally freaked me out! i went to pause it cuz my fiance called my name and when i turned back i was like OMG WTF!
I love the part when you turn from Nice and Sweet Chescaleiagh...TO Cruella DaLEIGH in a matter of seconds....LMAO!!! LOL, lol...omg funny woman you are...
You should love, it makes you laugh and look at your self like WHOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAA !!!! I DID THAT.......GO ahead girl, love the vids and you are such an aweome woman!!!! Stay blessed and always be encouraged!!!
I keep watching this tutorial trying to decide which I'm going to do first this or the hair bow, step one getting over morning lazyness and do something other than the obligatory bun/ponytail lol thanks for the how to
lol. i'm sorry. when you yelled at the dog at the start of the video i started rolling. nice vid though but 1. my hair isnt long enought and 2. i might be a lil to gangsta to pull it off. lol. just messing. actually i really cant.
Greetings sis! I cant take it anymore! The word "DREAD" was used in a negative term meaning "DREADFUL". There is nothing "DREADFUL" about our hair. The correct term is "LOCKS", which is exactly what our hair has done. But I LOVE ur vidoes and ur energy :) P.S. Ur assistants (the dogs) are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i don't give words that much power in my life. i know it has a negative history, but i know there's nothing "dreadful" about my hair and don't see anything wrong with it. for me, it's personal preference. i don't see one term as more "correct" than the other. thanks for your feedback.
Your videos are nice. I really love your energy and spirit. Stay encouraged sister and keep crankin out the loc vids. I am trying to get my sister some ideas for hairstyles for her locs. I am growing out my hair as well. I only have an inch and a half of natural hair just yet. So I am just starting out on my journey.
Hi Salme1970. The word dread does indeed come from dreadful. The term comes from the Rastafarians (I'm one of them) in Jamaica. Our hair shall be dreadful among the heathern, or it shall be dreaded among the heathen. That's how they refered to it themselves. It was also used in derrogatery way towards us, but that's a part of our history, and we should always embrace it. All real Rastas still use the term out respect for our history and as a sign that we don't care what other people think of us!
Wow I didn't know that. You just taught me something also. I hear black folks call them locs or dreads all the time. I guess I had not thought about it. But thanks for the info, and history. :)
Whilst I prefer the Zutons version to Valerie i also much prefer your style to Amys! So clever! but wasnt that bobby pin u 'bit the sides of' already wide open??? strange observation i know but hey - my main observation is that ur hairstlyling skills really are to be admired!
i bit it to make it tight again. if the pins are too wide (like mine tend to get because my hair is so thick and i bend them out of shape) they won't hold. they'll just slip out of place. you want a pin that is tight so it will hold your hair in place.
if you want to do different colors and keep the same "rat" lol you can use hair spray paint they come in alot of different colors and can get it from any hair supply store. thanks for the bee hive tips!! sooo excited to try
this iz gonna b a really weird comment but wow i luv ur armpitz hahaha....itz soo perfect n smooth...mine iz kinda stumbly frm shavin them ova n ova n i hate dat
haaa! i've actually heard that before! so it's not so weird. i wear tank tops year round, i gotta keep my pits nice and smooth. hehe. i wish i had a secret, but i really don't. i just started using shower veet and i love it.
well if shower veet workz i will buy it n try it...or maybe i can stop shaving n start waxin them...oooor i'l just wear long sleeve turtle neck 4 the rest of my life...can u just imagine haha...thnx 4 da reply sweety ^_^
thankfully, veet isn't a wax. it's basically like nair, but it doesn't smell bad. it's really great. i can't wax, my skin is super sensitive and that shit HURTS. don't be a slave to long sleeves. let your armpits "run" free!!
I'm in high school and i really want to get dreads (i'm saving up) but then i started to think what am i going to do with it when i have my formal (omg!!!!!!)? Then i found your beehive video and your victory rolls video (hooray!) and i would like to say thanks, i've got something to do!!!! :)
Great video. I have long curly hair but I'm gonna try to do this to my hair. It might work if i dead lock it (twist my hair so it looks dread-like). Thanx so much! If it works, Ill try to put together a response to complement your video. okay? Ciao!
I ran across this video and it was very useful. I was helping a friend get ready for a black-tie event and we could not decide how to style her hair for it. If they only knew that it cost $2.00 to pull of the look the would have not believe it. ;-) Great tips love!

loves it. how do you get such smoooth underarms? haha! you don't have to make a tutorial video .... just explain it to me (or you could make one if you want to hehe)
ha! i dunno! i just shave! nothing special. i use cheapo razors from walgreens, and shave w my body wash. i wish there was more too it. us florida girls have to stay ontop of our pits, since we tend to wear tank tops year round. ha!
I'm just starting out with my dreads and never thought about all these different styles you have shown. Definitely going to be using your tips in the future.
Do you have a video on how to just put them back in a ponytail without useing a hair tie and just letting your bangs hang down a lil and through them behind your ears
You r very pretty, I love your skin. What product do u use on ur face? Thanks about the beehive lesson. I don't have dreads but i'm always experimenting. I'm going to do this technique on permed hair..wish me luck...

Hey Girly , thanks for posting a video responce to my video. You did a great job and im glad you can now wear your Dreaded amy doo. Oh and btw the first pin you used is called a "hair pin" and the 2nd is a bobby pin. Keep up the good work.
i mainly wore a lot of scarves and hats. but sometimes i would pin my bangs so they were kinda sticking out...i don't know how to explain it...if i find a picture i'll send it to you. glad you liked it!
