going to craigslist for wheelchairs...why didn't I think of that before we actually shot a film for class and used a wheelchair that was in a room and I never thought of getting my own lol.
i dont recommend this too much.. i myself am in a wheelchair and i am a video producer.. what happens is that when the wheelchair is rolling the front wheels pick up every single little bump. so unless you have a COMPLETELY flat and bump free surface you will still have shaky video
Check out The Smart Pod channel for an alternative solution. You can mount the smart pod on a jogger or a stroller to get a similar effect. Please check it out. Thanks.
you problably can do that with a pickup truck, but it will be extremely hard to stablize the video, but if you can, then it would be a cool pan. Since the back of pickups tend to bounce up and down, you will have a grinding effect. I tried it with an atv and the stability was terrible. We actually attached a tripod on the front of the atv. It was fun to film though.

The Wheel Chair is a wonderful idea, to be used a single tool in your tool box of video tools. Use it where it works best and stay within its limits. Excellent Idea... :-)

i used the name "wheeLCHAiRtiger" in the on-line gaming "Vietcong" since the year 2000 & Battlefield 1942: Pilot:wheeLCHAiRtiger etcteras BFvietnam-BF2 :)
pretty good idea but i think the shots were a little to shakey for video or movie quality you are better off just either buying a dolly such as the painted sheep or making one yourself.
Wow I thought you needed a car to do that! Thanks videomaker your articles and videos are amazing and just a couple minutes ago I subscribed to your magizine!
Just thought I'd add that if you use anything with inflatable wheels, deflate them to half (you have to experiment). That way you'll be able to ride over small bumpy surfaces smoother.
Nothing beats a golf cart!

the whole point of a dolly is for the video to be stable and not shaky, a wheel chair dolly just completely defeats the purpose

making videos with wheelchair? i think it is shaky and just ok. try making videos with 4 bmx bike tires on a quadpod :)
amklon2clark 4 years ago
is there any videos on it? what's a quadpod?
CRAZYconTHEsk8er 4 years ago
...for example: tripod = a 3 legged object as a cauldron, stool or table.
...quadruple = consisting of 4 parts.
...4 bmx tires installed & assembled for improvised quadru-pod. thank you for your time.

No offense to disabled people but since I am not disabled I'd look like a retard riding a wheel chair for no reason, so, no thanks :)
