  • Why the fasting?

  • @FroIsPower Sunday is the only day we don't feed our residents, this is perfectly fine, many places only feed their animals a few times a week. Big cats in the wild don't eat every day and we use the fasting day to our advantage to better care for our cats. When it comes around to monday night feeding time our cats should be hungry and come running for their food so if we notice any cats that don't seem that interested or refuse to eat we know we need to monitor that cat more closely :)

  • damn nature you takin our meat

  • Aww they look some what really friendly....

  • MIMIC...PROCESSED FOOD FOR LIONS & TIGERS...NO WONDER ZOO-FOOLERY VET BILLS ARE SKY HIGH...STUPID PEOPLE!

  • How did the Liger come to be?

  • @pow1983 She was rescued in december 2008, we're unsure where she was born?

  • i love what these guys are doing

  • do these big cats ever get any exercise? the cages they reside in look quite confined, aren't they provided with a spacious area of some kind?

if thats the case even though you guys are feeding and taking care of them and all, they're probably miserable in their caged life

  • @Jeruwalter the enclosure size for our tigers, lions and liger range from 1200 sq ft to 3 acres, we provide them with regular enrichment that they can play with and they're free to run around as little or as often as they like. We're sure that living their entire life in a cage is miserable for them, we do our best to provide them with the best life possible in captivity and this is the only option for the animals we rescue.

  • do you give the animals boneless meat?

  • @SerratedPaper We give them boneless meat and meat with bones, they can crunch up and digest bones fine :)

  • @SerratedPaper You can give your housecat chickenwings. Just make sure the bones are RAW. Cooked bones splinter up and make a mess inside kitty.

  • Lol the Lion eats with manners XD

  • you guys are amazinggg! To do that everyday must be so exhausting, and the cost as well!! do you ever find yourself financially stuck to feed the cats??

    i hope not :C

  • @planetshakerxx Thank you. It does make for long days, it costs over a million dollars a year to run the sanctuary, we are forward thinking and have never been unable to provide for our cats :)

  • Is it weird that this made me hungry?

  • One of the things I must do in life, let it be wrong and unorthodox..but I want to buery my head in to a male lion's mane. I swear before I drop I WILL do this...

  • Dang those are big cats! Where did you get the Liger?

  • @SpavVy1993 We rescued Freckles the liger from a backyard in Mississippi in december 2008, you can read the full story at: BigCatRescue*org

  • @BigCatRescue Wow someone actually kept a liger in their backyard?! Thats just wrong :( Such beautiful animals shoulden't be kept in backyards, small cages, circuses, basements etc.

Not to mention they can be dangerous becouse their so big and they NEED lots of space. I think you guys are doing a great job taking care of them. You guys kinda remind me of DogTown exept it's big kitties lol

  • thats how much a pro bodybuilder competing in the mr.olympia eats a day

  • 250 dolar is nothing for 24 gigantic cats lol

  • Is It just me or did the bangle Tiger Laugh when eating? LOL "This is mine, H aa haa." LOL

  • you need to feed the homeless

  • do you guys have an rusty spotted cats?

  • @XxServalcat24xX Nope! :)

  • i just watched the feeding vid, i would like to ask a question, do they require more meat out in the wild as opposed to captivity? also i would like to thank ppl like you for educating yourselves on the proper dietary requirements of captive big cats. i have sent you money in the past and its nice to see you take time to show us what the big cats need. thank you for all your time and energy in the care of the big cats.

  • @teriag Good question, the cats in the wild use more energy in the wild so I'm sure they would like more! In the wild they consume much more in one sitting, unlike in captivity where we can feed them smaller amounts daily rather than just on huge meal a week. Thanks for your support, we are doing our best!

  • i love how cameron eat his meal and zabu , ohhhhhh i reemember when i see this 2 fellas in real life , i waste 24 pics only in cameron and zabu :-D

  • 2:40 haha jojo :D

  • WOW i mean theres still HUMANS starving to death in the world but we can afford to feed lions and tigers that much meat so we can save them and use them as entertainment for other people....... this world is ridiculous.

  • @sikweedhead Big Cat Rescue is a sanctuary, we don't use our cats to entertain people they can come say hello if they feel like it or stay at the back of their enclosure out of the way, it's completely up to them. We are able to rescue and feed over 100 rescued big cats thanks to our donors :)

  • @BigCatRescue what your doing is good but im just saying this world needs to get its priorities right......tigers would kill us any opportunity they get so why are we saving them and not starving children in africa or palestein? im just saying if i was you i would sell the lions to people who would take good care of them like scarface and give the money you get to charities............you know im talking sense here.

  • @sikweedhead This is exactly the problem we are trying to put a stop to, private ownership of these big cats needs to end, they are dangerous, wild animals that don't belong in backyards. These cats can't help themselves and we are working towards ending the abuse and exploitation of these animals.

  • @BigCatRescue scarface could handle his properly and so can mike tyson.......i want you too personally go up to them and tell them that what theyre doing is wrong....i triple dare you...do it and come back to me if your still alive

  • @sikweedhead Scarface is a fictional character, but I would definitely educate Mike Tyson about why owning a tiger is abusive and ignorant to the needs of the animal :)

  • @BigCatRescue sikweedhead are u seriously trying to argue with an organization that is doing all they can to save these animals and has has alot of sucess at what they do? Seriously just stop talking cause you have nothing to argue about.

  • @BigCatRescue , don't let anyone like silkweedhead upset you because you're doing a great cause. There are so few of these ceaturesleft in the wild and in danger of extinction.

It would a terrible thing for future generations to never get a glimpse of a live lion or tiger in the wild or in a zoo.

You're right these creatures have no voice, so ppl like you need to be their voice.

  • @PantheraAtrox

    2:51 - STAY AWAY THIS MINE -

    3:26 - YUMM YUMMM YUMMMM -

  • @sikweedhead you are very ignorant, you know nothing about wild animals... u better go and watch scarface instead of posting stupid comments here

  • @BigCatRescue

woahhh cameron look so healthy :-) and zabu sexy i just love BCR i wanna be a tiger , lucky cats

  • @sikweedhead Humans can repopulate, there are more than enough of us in the world for that. We wont ever die out. When big cats like lions or tigers die, there is NO bringing them back. And like Scott said, BCR is a SANCTUARY for the animals so we CAN SAVE THEM. BCR tries to STOP humans for using them as entertainment. And people in those countries that you say have no food, those are the main countries that use these animals as entertainment.

  • @sikweedhead .. Your an fucking idiot! haha. Animals are just as important to the world as any human being, to me they are more important because all humans do is destroy earth and really fuck up the balance of animals. Do some research on the ecosystem and get back to me with your so called "sense." I would save a starving animal before a starving man. You proved yourself as a dumbass the second you started using scarface to make a point with animals.

  • @sikweedhead easy take all those starving people V.S all those rescued cat's to get those meat bucket.

i'm pretty sure those cat's would not need those bucket that day.

  • That's a lot of food. lol

    Beautiful animals.

  • i will die soon but im glad , all this tigers and lions found a good place to live after all , god bless u guys from BCR , show to the world we still good guys and girls helping this majestic creatures.

  • I LOOOOOOVE how zabu eat , is like a inglish girl eating in a royal dinner , shes sooo cute i love herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and cameron eat soo relax i like , no one will f%$^& with my food soo i eat relax my tasty chien mmmm yummm

  • got hungry.

  • feed them milk save the money .they used to drink milk when they were babies.i hope you get my point. thanks

  • @mamoo319 They need to consume meat once mature a diet of milk wouldn't be healthy :)

  • @mamoo319 grown mammals cannot be sustained on just milk due to lack of certain enzymes to decompose it. only baby mammals got those enzymes, you know.

didnt u ever ask your self why there are so much milk products - well thats why to prepare smthg u could digest

  • that tiger really wats you to back off of his dinner

  • A single lion or tiger at big cat rescue seems to have a 4 to 6 times better live than one me :/ . They probably deserve to have better lives than 95% of humans though.

  • damuyumnn tht evn looks yummy to me nom nom nom mmmmm

  • I'm Hungry :D

  • is it true that a white tiger is a result of inbreeding?

  • @viky10400 Yes, they are inbred in captivity, they do not exist in the wild.

  • @BigCatRescue so is it 250$ a day? And what about the other cats so they get the same type of diet? In total how mugh does it take to feed all of the cats a year?

  • @BigCatRescue , is it 250$ for all the 23 large cats? What About the other cats?, what sort of diet do they get? Would you put them on wet or dry food? Or do they get meat like the rest?

  • @Keeneyes4utube Yes it costs $250 just for the tigers/lions/liger at BCR. The other cats get a similar diet, we switch out chicken quarters for chicken necks :)

  • Do butchers or anyone else who has it available ever donate any meat? Thats a ton of meat O_O

  • @BellaDanceswithJack Not really we have to be careful, we need to know where the meat came from and it needs to be USDA approved etc... We sometimes get people who want to donate a deer they hit with their car for example but we cannot accept, the deer may have parasites that we don't want on the property....

  • @BigCatRescue Have you ever thought about having your own "farm" for them? Kind of like having breeder mice for reptiles?

  • @BellaDanceswithJack I'm sure the thought has crossed our minds, but it would be too much work, we want to focus all our efforts on providing a good home for our 100+ cats. Also their would probably be lots of issues to get this started then it would bring more pests onto the property etc..etc... :)

  • 2:27 ... is that a liger?

  • @antifilipino Yep, that's Freckles the liger we rescued in 2008 :)

  • pretty sad to see all that food going to the animals. not hating or anything but there are WAY more people in this world who need food rather then these animals :/

  • i still want a tiger......food is ton of money tho

  • Do they ever get live prey?

  • @nfwlpw No, only the rehab bobcat kittens/bobcats get live prey :)

  • That bucket is NOT enough for one tiger or lion in a day. They need more than that

  • @KatiushaVN4 Believe me it is plenty of food each day for a tiger, true they do eat more in one sitting in the wild but then they go days sometimes weeks without another kill, so for captive tigers who aren't roaming miles everyday and hunting what we provide them with is more than enough!

  • @BigCatRescue Well said =] that looks really good, if i were a tiger/lion i'd eat that :P

But i noticed, 250 dollars for 450 pounds of meat, is that right? 50p for a pound of meat? Can that be right? :s

  • @AliiiiLewis It was right back then (year ago) it may be a different case now??

  • @BigCatRescue I think he means its 250 dollars a day per cat to feed them almost 24 pounds of meat flank and poultry

  • ...I'm hungry now.

  • how come the male lion was not given beef to eat? It was eating chicken only? why?

  • @kwfine Lions generally prefer chicken to beef and vice versa for tigers...an interesting fact for you there! :)

  • @kwfine in africa raising chickens is a big thing for the food for humans and also for lions while asia raises cows

  • Ligers?

  • geiuy dont feed your dogs with meet cuz this is make there wild instincts come back...

ask who ever u want...(search on google or something...)

feeding your dogs with meet can make them agressive....

  • @DarkGlobusO thats bollox, i feed my dog meat all the time and his soppy as shit, its how you bring them up not there diet

  • man i wish i was a lion. so much food and caring. don't see the point in being human any more. lol

  • im jealous... im gonna brake into the zoo and steal those steaks!

  • why do you giver tigers a meet, but to lion a chicken meat??? its unfair

  • @yaoiwisa We give our lions beef also, they just prefer chicken so they get chicken more often :)

  • @BigCatRescue i feed my cat dogs meat

  • @BigCatRescue

My brothers says he wishes he were a tiger in a zoo because the tigers get to eat a lot of chicken.

  • @BFMVpwnsBieber I bet he'd rather be a wild tiger though! :)

  • why are they in small cages like that? Or are they let out after meal time?

  • @r8offire This is what we call a "lock-out" a smaller cube cage on the side of their enclosure, this is where they get fed and where they can find fresh water each day, they have access to it and the rest of their enclosure 24/7. They have sliding doors on them, these are closed 30 minutes before feeding time so we can safely place the food on the slab then open the door to let them in! :)

  • Ever consider having someone just go boar hunting near that place? central FL is crawlin with em lol

  • they eat alot, this must be expensive for them all

  • and the camera operator is the second dish ? :D

  • and the camera operator is the second dish ? :D

  • hehe those cats must love eating there if all that was cooked (the food not the animals) id be a happy fat man =D

  • 2:51 he say: hey camera guy , get out or i will eat u 2.

  • wow all that for only 1 tiger??

  • Do tigers really need 20 pounds of meat to maintain their size? Impressive. If we ate as much meat relative to our size, it would be like 7+ pounds of meat a day. We'd get high chance of heart attacks etc of that :)

I dunno, it seems very inefficient to me if you need so much meat a day. Big gorilla's for instance also weigh a lot but they eat like 10 times less protein and a lot less calories as the diet I'm seeing here.

No offence ofcourse, tigers are my favourite animals, but still, damn!

  • This is a full feed day which we don't feed them this every single day, we have lighter days and whole prey days etc... But this is how cats are designed they're not omnivores they eat protein and nothing else so they need this much meat.

  • @SinisterSkip its because cats have extemely strong muscles that burn energy quickly thats why they are lazy most of the time

  • what state is this?

  • BCR is in Tampa FL :)

  • grate job keep up the hard work I can't wait to visit this place this summer

  • Pretty funny at how Scott says "come take a look" at about 0:17 and then closes the door on us. XDDDDDD

  • wow! that's a lot!

  • wow! that's a lot!

  • That food looks delicious! Lucky tigers

  • I learned a lot from this video, so thanks!! but Do you know how many ligers are there in the world?? ;)

  • Thanks for watching, I have no idea how many ligers are in captivity, sorry :)

  • Man this video is AWESOME i go by your guys place alot around the citrus park area in tampa,FL in town n coutry 5***** and favorite

  • Thanks for watching, you ever visited for a tour? We have 45 acres and around 130 big cats!

  • i got plans to go on a tour on my brithday on june 7th 2010

  • Sounds good, I recommend the morning tour, it'll be cooler and the cats will be more active :)

  • So wait, $250 x 23= $5,750 USD

    $5,750 x 31= $178, 250

How the hell can you guys afford this? How does your 'bigcatrescue' make revenue? Is it strictly from donations? How does this work?

And is your company a not-for-profit organization?

  • Hi, yes we are a non profit organization, Our annual budget is around 1 million dollars! We can afford this because of all out tour revenue, individual donors, company sponsors etc... we get no government support so we are constantly thinking of new ways to make money to provide for our cats :)

  • Big props for feeding all the cats with those huge amounts of meat!

Must cost alot of cash to be doing this - but I love what you guys are doing! :)

  • Thanks! You're right it costs us about $2000 a day and our annual budget is about 1 million dollars! Thanks for watching :)

  • Did Freckles have any trouble eating her food prior her surgery? How come it took you guys that long to fix up her bad teeth?

  • No, she had no trouble at all, they use the back teeth to grind their food and she ate well. It was just a matter of letting her get comfortable with being at BCR, timing with the vet etc...

  • is there such thing as a hybrid siberian tiger and a normal lion

  • Male lion + female tiger = LIGER, female lion + male tiger = TIGON, does this answer your question? Let me know :)

  • well i get how they are made but is there such thing as a whit liger or tigon

like a siberian tiger and a lion mix does it fur change in pigment??

  • Siberian tigers are golden just like bengal tigers, I don't believe there as ever been a white liger/tigon bred before?

  • Wonderful animals.

  • wow...that;s ALOT of meat! r scott and other feeders vegetarians now? LOL...it's so awesome that u guys r educated about how much and what to feed these cats. they r blessed to get good care:)

  • Many of our volunteers/staff are vegetarians yes! Thanks for watching and supporting us without this we wouldn't be able to do what we're doing! :)

  • wow! at 3:21 is that a white tiger..?? very beautiful!!!

  • Yep, that is Zabu our female white tiger we have at BCR, beautiful but a lot of white tigers are inbred, did you know this?

  • what do you mean by inbred white tiger..?? sooooo fascinating creature!!

  • White tigers are caused by a double recessive gene and many of the white tigers you see in captivity today have been purposefully inbred in order to create this desired white pelage. They are not a seperate sub species of tiger and very very rarely exist in the wild, yet they are the most popular with people.

  • I really respect you for what you are doing with these wonderful creatures, I think that's what separates Humans from the Animal kingdom, We have the ability to care for them.

You have an awesome job there my friend.

    God bless you for it.

  • Thanks for the comment! :)

  • 2:26 is that the Liger??

  • Yep! That's the one and only FRECKLES!

  • who is the one around 2:45 licking the cage. I giggled for some reason because my cat would do something like that after he ate

  • That was Bella, I don't think she was licking the cage she was just using her back teeth to chew on the meat and making some weird head movements?

  • So who is the messiest eater there? :)

  • That's a hard one, we have quite a few, especially when it comes to the "mush" this can get spread around all over the place by some of the tigers. Nala is one that comes to mind :)

  • LOL Wow, then I'll tell my cats not to feel so bad that they drip around their bowls ;)

  • Wow these big cats are such eaters, they got a huge stomach. You guys must have spent at least a million dollar a year just to feed them.

I love zabu, she is so quiet and gentle. Unlike other big tigers and lions, she eats like a lady. CUTE!

  • They are, they could eat several times what we feed them each day in the wild then not eat for a long time, our annual budget is 1 million dollars! Good guess, Zabu might appear gentle at times, but don't let that fool you she's still a tiger and can be aggressive when she wants to be! :)

  • I love Zabu, she is so quiet and gentle! Unlike other big tigers and lions, she eats like a lady with manner. CUTE!

  • white tiger + Liger wow you got some rare cats there =P

  • wow, they eat so much.

  • @ 2:51 that tiger looks so content and happy :)

  • Does a leopard eat as much meat as the tiger, lion or liger per day?

I am very interested in hearing how a liger roars

  • No leopard eat about a third of the amount compared to a tiger or lion at a cost of about $2000 a year compared to $7500 for a tiger! I've never heard Freckles the liger roar yet, just kinda growl!?

  • i subscribed cause i love cats and what you guys stand for.

  • Thanks :)

  • my tigers tigons ligers and lion eat about 200 hundred pounds of meat a week each now we have a lot of big cats because the big cat zoo is in my yarf

  • I was wondering something can u guys make a video about ligers?please it would so cool.I love ligers.

  • We will be doing one in the future, we have a video introducing viewers to Freckles our liger if you wanna check it out...

  • im hungry now

  • Steak....rare...right?

  • the tiger is fukin huge

  • sorry, that should be at around 3:09-3:11

  • That was so cute at 3:12 - 3:13... actually sounds like he was saying Mmmmm! or Yumm!! hehehe

  • 2:27....it`s a liger??

  • Correct! That was Freckles our liger we rescued from Mississippi before christmas

  • cool =)

  • that last male wasn't aggressive towards the camera man, yet he was looking at him the entire time, and I think that some of the others did that too

  • That was Cameron the male lion, most of them look at you when they're eating, just in case!

  • FOOOOOOOOD :D

  • Mmmmmm! YUMMY!! :D thank you sooo much for keeping these animals safe, without, you, we might have not seen these beautiful animals. they might have gone extint. thx soooo much!! :D

  • A tiger bit the keeper in the leg the other day at the Memphis zoo.

  • Yeah I heard about that, we keep it real simple here, we never go in the cats enclosure, we clean from the outside. We also don't switch them out into different areas at night they have full access to their whole enclosure 24/7.

  • 2:14 is so cute!!!

Geez those cats eat a lot.

    Also, I'm a vegetarian. LOL

  • Eventhough I love dogs and am not at all a cat person, I LOVE BIG CATS =) They are beautifal, majestic animals and are just awesome... Here in Karachi, Pakistan this friend's friend has 2 full grown tigers (traditional orange and black), one white tiger, a leopard, black panther and an African male lion full grown... Apparently Simba the lion is fully domesticated... I really want to become friends with him and meet him soon hopefully but I've heard cuz he is getting bigger thts not a good idea.

  • I don't think it will ever be a good idea to have contact with any big cats, they are big, powerful and unpredictable whether someone says they are "domesticated" or not. Stick with domestic cats!

  • That is a lot of food! No wonder why many people that own big cats as pets don't feed them well. This has to be expensive!!
