Anyone comparing Pharrell to Chad and saying one is better than the other might as well compare a guava to a papaya. Pharrell is more hip-hop/R&B-inclined; Chad is more pop/rock-inclined. Are they both equally talented at what they do? Hell yeah! Anyone who can sit here and tell me that Pharrell is weak is either deaf or is more of a visionary than Pharrell is. Listen to In My Mind and Out of My Mind and THEN tell me that Pharrell is garbage or was the weak link in The Neptunes. You can't.

i sort of agree. I do think Chad is a more versatile producer, but then Pharrell has way more solo credits, so it's never a very fair comparison. That said, In My Mind was weak. Out of My Mind had better production, but that was because of questlove. Lyrically, I cant stand In My Mind. Pharrell's lyrics are always like that. just..ugh. but they just make great music together. if they ever release a n.e.r.d instrumental compilation album, I'm pretty sure that'll be the happiest day of my life.

I have to agree with GTD. In my mind was one of the lamest albums I ever bought. Mostly because pharrell is a one string guitar lyrically. "I can rap about the drug game even though i never did it and girls." The whole album felt like a remix of the same two songs. Even Out of my mind could only put a pretty face on his "meh" lyrics. And this is coming from a huge neptunes fan. (me)
