my mom work for royal carribien nd my fam. goes on deese ships 3 times a year. nd i been on dis ship last xmas. im nt rich but my mom got a liiiitle discount nd it was a week of pure FUNNN. yu shud try dis one soo bad. i dnt wanna tell yu all thts on it cus i dnt wanna spoil it or tryy to make yu feel bad or jelous. but it really fun yu shud try it one day.!
It has been documented that the carbon footprint of this new ship is less than half that of a ship built in the 90's. The cruise lines are looking to retire the older ships for several reasons, the carbon footprints being one of them. The capacity and efficiency being another.
I'm an architect and deal with carbon footprint information when I design buildings. I found the info about Oasis carbon footprint from some statistics I ran across.
I do have quite an attraction to cruise ships, who knows, maybe some day I will look into what classes I need to take to become a Navel Architect.
Carbon footprints are crap! Mother Earth has been here longer than we have. She has seen species evolve and become extinct over millions of years. We are just another species. Mother earth has had climate change before; for anybody to try and tell me they can reduce a "carbon footprint" and save the earth is rubbish. As a species, our life is just a chapter in Mother Earths' diary.
She will decide when to close our page in her history. Nobody else. Then she will continue her life as planet.
Stop complaining about hate. I for one think this ship is awesome, but I also believe that the out-of-the-box design architecture like this could also work on land. I believe companies like Royal Caribbean are attracting architecture that should someday replace our choking suburbia. At the rate at which these staterooms are growing, they could easily replace the average size house for the same price, much cheaper than an apartment, and all of this because no more in-city highways, traffic, etc..
Hey, I wouldn't want to board this thing even I had $1,200 to spend on this. I'm just naturally averse to the idea of traveling on something that uses up a stagerring 19,790 pounds of fuel a day and dumps acids, detergents, and plain old crap directly into the oceans. But, hey, that's not as important as having 12 pools and 6 basketball courts.
You've got to appreciate the unique irony of the situation. Its a company that markets itself as those people who will help you appreciate the beauty of world out there in comfot, but at the same time damages that world irreparably. Now if they put a nuclear reactor on this killer, I could see it being viable, but until then, I hope you enjoy yourself. Honestly.
Don't forget to post a video of your experience of this great new ship; I'd like to see an in depth vt. of the actual suite or room you are allocated on board, including the bathroom and the balcony.

Holy christ !! what is the carbon footprint of of this awful monster going to be ? How many tons of trash is it gonna dump in the sea every day ? I guess royal carribean has decided to kill the planet singlehandedly.
If you kept this "monster" at land and made it a real city, you can save a lot of money on fuel. You would also save a lot of land and utilities as well. A building this big would also be more stable to terrorist attacks than standing towers. The Pentagon building still lives, but not the WTC towers. It's an unlikely idea that such big buildings would grace the American natural landscape rather than the sea, but it seems these ships are paving the way for public acceptance of arcologies.
Like the Burj Dubai will this be remembered as a relic of the bubble? Or are more positive times ahead? Only time will tell but I remain optimistic :)
