And apparently the king was some sort of 'gate guardian' to another dimension.
@AlanxEurope Some spells have special powers in certain situations (like "Reanimate" spell, that if used on undead kills them instantly and if used on Tr'Santi droves them to suicide), the "Lightning" spell armonizes with the "Spear Thrower": if you use the spell with that weapon in hand, the spell won't be cast, but the spear will be charged up like a lightniong rod, whoever is hit by it gets struck by lightning, usually its overkill but there are some practical uses, like this one...
The fact that the end of the game is a big insectoid boring monster boss puzzle thing, is perhaps the ONLY disappointing part of this game. Every other character/boss I felt true hate for, and felt so madly satisfied when I chopped their fucking heads off. But this final boss was just a letdown emotionally and even in terms of the action. (Begs the question, did there even have to BE a boss?)
It's too bad! But of course, the game is still great regardless. HD Remake anyone?

This game was so fantastic because of the terrifying atmosphere not because of gore an violence. There were lots of bloody games with better quality (graphic), but not even one single game reached Undying. So to put more gore in it would NOT make it better ;)
It's a good horror game, but I've always felt Clive Barker tells his stories soooo badly. He has good ideas, but he doesn't transfer them correctly. The angles are all weird and wrong, his timing is off, no real build of suspense and it's pretty predictable. I just hope we get to see something really shining from him one day.
i remember i could always kill the king within like 3 minutes, all i had to do was hurt him when his bottom part opens up, then when hes is weak, id hit him with 2-3 x-box bolts, with the lighting magic attached to the bolt, and he was dead in no time.

that wasn't keisinger.. remember the dream patrick has after killing ambrose (or aaron) can't remember.. when we see the king being buried alive on the isle of standing stones.. at the end we see the face of the monk who 'puts the lid on' :) .. that's who we see in the end of the game and that's why patrick knows him.. PS: the big bug thing isn't the king it's just a guardian.. the king was the guy beeing buried..
Actually, it was Keisinger. If you go to the Undying forum "Standing Stones", you'll find a multi-page thread written up by two programmers of the game answering a buncha questions left unanswered from all the cuts made in the game. They explain it was him and that it was meant to leave the possibility of a sequel.
Great video, i have completely forgotten about this game, infact i never finished it, i was somewhere near the end when my old pc died, and i never got into playing it again (mainly because the fights get very repetetive IMO).
the editing was nice, although it would have been better if we've seen more fragments from the places, like the manor itself, the caves, the monastary, the cellars...
Well, the game does set up a very immersive (and terrifying) atmosphere. I'd film a few clips of gameplay... maybe when I get the time to do so. I'll have to see what I can do.
The final boss is incredibly annoying in terms of the time it takes to kill it. As said before, all boss fights were cut to make the movies under 10 minutes long. To kill the last guy, destroy the two arms closest to it's gut. After this, it's "whatever-the-hell" opens up and sucks you in. Shoot at it and it'll close. Shoot at the head that opens up. After about 5 minutes of doing this, it'll die (or so we think).
The Disco of Death has to be the most insane piece of genius I have ever witnessed in a game. Its a shame they never went ahead with the book/comic. Could have been superb.
All the boss fights seen in these videos were (drastically) cut short due to timing and music length. Heh, you really didn't want to see me dancing around the bosses for 5+ minutes, did ya? =D
It all comes down to knowing how to kill 'em properly.
Nonetheless, thanks all for the comments. What you've seen here is pretty much all there is to see in terms of big, brutal fights. Let's hope Clive Barker's "Jericho" ends up just as good!

Like I said in part 2 - this is some good editing. It feels like a movie.
By the way - I never really understood how to kill the final monster. I just shoot it where I think it hurts and it eventually dies.
I also don't quite understand the end too. The middle I can follow but the end totally confuses me.

The Disco of Death has to be the most insane piece of genius I have ever witnessed in a game. Its a shame they never went ahead with the book/comic. Could have been superb.

All the boss fights seen in these videos were (drastically) cut short due to timing and music length. Heh, you really didn't want to see me dancing around the bosses for 5+ minutes, did ya? =D
It all comes down to knowing how to kill 'em properly.
Nonetheless, thanks all for the comments. What you've seen here is pretty much all there is to see in terms of big, brutal fights. Let's hope Clive Barker's "Jericho" ends up just as good!
