  • omg i have this gun well not that caliber its in .22 i have no clue what gun it is but it looks just like this except its missing the buttstock and foregrip it even shoots still

  • now to realign your shoulder..

  • Do people still paper patch their self loaded 45/90 bullets? If yes, can you make a video about this, what paper is best used...etc?

  • God thats a beautiful gun

  • Your a fat price of shit and an old fart

  • What model was the rifle?

  • Yup nice gun just to bad there has never been buffalo in america the large bull like animal hunted by the wrongly named buffalo bill among others is actually a bison

  • 8) i love it.. im gnna be hunting with a h&r 45 70 this upcoming season.

  • im a lefty, im a righty too. growing up my dad taught me to shoot, write, and pretty much everything else with both. He has broken his arm and leg a few times and he advocates ambidexterity in all things :) fantastic rifle! You sir are a lucky man, as will I as soon as I buy mine. Though I am lazy and will get the 45-70 so I can just buy ammo for it.

  • r buffalo rifles legal in australia

  • 2 things 2 say: first: I THOUGHT I WAS ONLY LEFT HANDED PERSON WHO FIRED A GUN EVER! AWESOME! (one of the only left handed peeps, probably the only left handed kid lol). second thing i wana say: no offence to any americans who read this but this is one of the only reasons (there would bo loads of reasons if i wasnt in my home town with my whole family now lol) i wanted to stay in America! i got to fire a gun but not hunt :(

  • great video..............had me laughing awesome rifle

  • Wow- and buffalo are much bigger than a harmonica.

Their is a great movie with Tom Seleck using an old Buffalo gun. I forgot the name of it. Good movie. Reality is always better.

    Thanks for the post.

  • @DamnYourReallyUgly Quigley down under

  • it would be awesome if a dyslexic person saw the intro of the vid and thought it said shooting my dad with a harmonica haha

  • In Quigley, in the scene where he is explaining his Sharps rifle, he says the cartridge is 45-110, not 45-120.

  • @Gary7even You are exactly right, David has a disclaimer on here somewhere right after he posted it.

  • Nice vid! nice rifle too. I liked the 4 shot group, did you wipe out between each shot or just blow it through?

    Regards, John..

  • @Kniferest Just blew through!

  • @Kniferest John I use Swiss 1 1/2. I clean every 15 shots in a Match or before change of animal. At my ability at this time wiping would not be worth the added motion/stress during a match. I have shot a 35 shot string with little or no difference in accuracy. This was done in high humidity, summer day, temp in the 70's F range.

In this just blew through cleaning every 15 rounds. TY for asking:)

  • Your dad is one awesome shot....so are you dude..great rifle..560 grains would have alot of terminal energy..I bet you it drops a moose instantly..

  • Please explain to me anything about a .30/30

  • Harmonica made in China. Shoot more of them!

  • Great shooting, nice video and good information. I had a customer come in the store last weekend talking about his 45-90 he got from his dad. Had to research it.

  • Were those brass cartriges longer than the 45/70? Or did they just add more gun powder to the same cartridge.?

I know the barrels were up to 28 and possibly 31 inches long.

Just to add.....can you use smokeless powder in place of the black ?

  • on the first shot it was like you shot the guy playin the music

  • Rednecks, yeeeehawwww

  • i used on of these to hunt birds when i was a begginer, yea that was REAL smart of me.

  • it's for hunt thhank in the west ?

  • This is why I never want to live in America.

  • @torrobinson Please explain in greater detail.

I see nothing wrong with this. I would have rather seen him shoot a rabbit hopping by and blow his brains out.

  • That's nice shooting you guys do. Nice groups.

makes me want to go out and buy a Sharps.

    Max

    Australia

  • Hi: Enjoyed the video. I have been thinking about getting a Stevens 44&1/2 repro from

CPA rifles, but I see that some Winchester High-Walls (new) are available in 45-90 for about 1/3 the price they charge. Money is very tight these days, so even though I like the Stevens a lot, the price of the HighWall is right.

  • @Srbija575

I really liked my Browning Highwall 40/65 has a single trigger and they win

Matches. 45/90 without a recoil pad is rough. Even with repeated strings

40 plus sighters in a Match will take it's toll.

  • It's a joke you can't stretch your rifleings from shooting far distances.

  • Very nice video

  • dude. I'M your dad.

    dude

  • That was a great video! Nice music and good shooting too. I appreciated the technical comment.

Would you be interested in making another video called "Plinking at an ex-wife at 1000 yards"? I'll provide the target.

  • How come your harmonica's are made in China? Why don't I just go down to the dollar store and get a harmonica there?

  • They are not and you could.

Only target Harmonicas come from China.

This one came from Cracker Barrel.

    Dad

  • You gotta watch shooting too far you can stretch the rifleings in the barrel, cool gun.

  • What does the distance have to do with and how do you stretch the rifling?

  • Mr. Jayson You blow tube to soften the fouling. In low humidity you can only chamber a few rounds then the cartridge is so tight it will not go in enough to close the breach block. With the blow tube I have shot more than 50 rounds without cleaning. Accuracy takes a nose dive on about the 30th shot. So in Matches I clean about every 15 rounds. What they used to do in the 1800's is a whole other story....kb8njh/aka Dad

  • Sorry I listened a few times. What was the purpose of blowing air down the chamber?

  • To blow out airborne particles, basically, the grit in the smoke.

  • Thanks. Also saw it dine in the Quigley Down Under movie and wasn't sure. My 1874 Shiloh Sharps Quigley Rifle comes this week just wanted to make sure. Thanks again.

  • Mr Jayson..Waiting on my 1874 Sporter No. 1 will be two years on 2/28/10. It's a long wait but when it gets there you will have the best.

Congrats on getting a shipping date!

    kb8njh/aka Dad

  • Shiloh called Sporter No. 1 should arrive on 2/10/10. Wed. next week. Less than the promised time, by 18 days.

  • @MrJayson1464 to blow the burned gun powder residue out of the barrel

  • @MrJayson1464 also keeps the fouling soft with black powder. easier to clean

  • @MrJayson1464 also to soften up the burnt blackpowder. Swabbing is goos to do right after the blow tube..

  • Comment removed

  • @MrJayson1464 to soften the fouling as well. makes it easier to clean the rifle. otherwise it will bake on.

  • nice music beautiful beast of a rifle exelent knowlege and marxmenship

  • Good vid, superb rifle and I love the laid back presentation.

  • Dude, that is a terrible waste of an irriplaceable Horner mouth organ!

  • @tprdfh51 ;)

  • great video,I enjoyed watching it and learned something, good job!

  • interesting... and very different from the other videos and i like the detail 5/5.

  • Nice shot!

Shoot a piano next time, they are better to see at 100 yards ;o).

  • Nice shot! I know you didn't do that to a Seydel harp! :)

  • Great video.

Your dad is incredible with that rifle!

5 stars because I've never seen anything like that.

  • The 1,000 yard club started in Western Pa. We have spotters at 600 yards in case of a wound. Also, I've done much more harm to a harp than that rifle ever could...by PLAYING it, LOL! I have a .45 flintlock I might take to some uppity harps I got. GOOD VID!

  • I've never taken a punch with that much energy. It's awesome.

I did notice a critical typo the BPCR guys are going to call me on, I'm sure. The Quigley rifle was the .45/110, not the .45/120.

  • What's the kick feel like on that rifle? It looks like it moved your father's whole bocy back.

Also do you have something against Hohner harmonicas?

    Great video.

  • Something that just came to me, now that you mention moving the whole body back... I'm a big guy, 6'2'' 250 pounds, I shot about 20 shots prone and switched to bend because my lower back was sore and it was messing up my groups. I hadn't thought about it, but that's probably why.

  • That's some good shootin' !

I love plinking with my guns... I shoot my air rifles more than my firearms, cuz its cheaper and allows for more shooting.

The name of the song playing was "Little Rabbit" ?

I learned that one on harp from Buddy Greene's version. Cool song and fun to play !

  • Mojo, you are the man. That was Little Rabbit. Air is nice, not many rifles you can shoot inside, either, eh?

  • OK, Dave.

Have you started writing a script for your full length motion picture?

If so, and you need a writer to help you, ask me.

I love your humor and think there certainly is a market for you and film.

Ideas for plot, characters, and setting is all I need to get started.

There's gotta be a harmonica or two (or more) involved here.

    Yessirree.

    Aloha..........SQB

  • Yes m'am, Suzie Q, I write for a living, but you can never have too many writers!

  • Nice grouping! Remind me never to run from ya.

Im an old Marine and we shot 500yds. with open and peep sights in 1966. OOOOORAH

  • Remind me to never run from YOU and thank you for serving our great country. OOORAH

  • deshiblue got to ask...odds against it.. did you ever meet Carlos Hathcock or Col. Lands

I think Carlos won the Nationals at Camp Perry

near that time...also Jim Owens Sr. former coach of the Marine Rifle Team?...anyway your my HERO!...Thanks for your Service...DAD
